As soon as Martin McGuinness realized he couldn't win the presidency in a fair fight, he got together with with Pat Kenny to nutmeg Gallagher's campaign in a brilliantly executed piece of lying thuggery. I lost my respect for both McGuinness and Kenny that night and I never regained it. As for the present minister saying that a broadcaster which is now beholden to the government for its very existence "is necessary for democracy and therefore should not be questioned" . . . it makes me want to vomit.

Catharine Martin posed the trustworthy state broadcasters doing a great job during...Covid. Recently moved to Ireland (legally boys and girls please don’t lash😂) because I always wanted to move here, due to my heritage, and love of culture and country. Every day that has passed since I am slowly learning about Irelands politics and recent history, it breaks my heart for my fellow Irish countrymen, and if anything I feel like I moved to the closest thing to the USSR since 1990. Remember RTE's (and most of the MSM's) coverage of Biden's visit here last year - ok - his handlers managed to keep him on a tight enough leash - but the visit was an opportunity for all the mainstream journos here to "look at Biden in the round" and address the issue "without fear or favour" of his cognitive ability - there was an absolute stock of tv clips - as of early last year - that could have been viewed and assessed for that purpose - but - no - other than covering one gaffe made by Biden on his visit here - the MSM provided a pretty favourable - "nothing to see here" - picture of him - what a disgustingly biased bunch of rabble they are !!!

I’m a public servant and I stopped watching rte during their attack on the public service. I remember having my salary cut by almost 20% while I was still living at home making about 25k. Rte ran articles every day stating we had an average salary of 75k and got bumper golden handshake pensions. Twenty years later I still don’t earn close to their lied averaged and they never mentioned that our pensions are deducted from our salaries each week.
