McEntee looked like Alice in wonderland a few months ago after yet another violent attack in Dublin, flanked by 3 cops either side of her, and telling us the streets are safe...must have been those strange mushrooms she had in her salad the previous evening.... I heard the cops are on the endangered species list..anyone who spots one is asked to report the sighting to the Department of the environment.

This justice minister isn't up to such a serious position but lenient and suspended sentences are public policy to keep the prison population low and save money. No violent crime should get a suspended sentence.

There are 700 acid attacks every year in UK. Two a day. But we have diverse cuisine takaways to offset that.

My uncle was assaulted from behind outside a nightclub in the 90s. Never regained consciousness and died about a week later. In court, we heard what a good lad the assailant was, came from a good family blah blah blah. He got a 2 year suspended sentence.

I got 5mnts in Mountjoy for carrying a can of pepper spray once, they called it, (firearm) charges", after I was attacked and stabbed in the chest weeks before while walking my dog. Irish justice system is a joke.

Not only are prisons overcrowded, they are chronically understaffed across all prison services.

So we have a rogue DOJ under this tyrannical Regime , not only that , I have noticed that when I went to seek legal representation against Galway County Council for descrimination of an Irish family to have a Home after a landlord wanting to evict them after being on rental for 14 yrs with no offers of housing from County Council , even though they came under Minister O Briens Tenant In Situ scheme , plus local TD signing the NTQ/Eviction notice for his landlord friend and stated so on the NTQ , was and is a violation of the 2001 and other Ethics Acts . In retrospect , the Constitutional apparatus has been taken away from The People by the judicial system . This is outrageous . As for violence against our youth of Ireland is a tactic employed to strike fear and discomfort in our youth so that they will not stad up for themselves in future Government regimes escapades into removing their Sovereignty and self determination , This is a mass pdy-op being played out on the people of Ireland . A softening up and priming people for absolute Regime rule and the removal of the individuals sovereignty thus the removal of a Nations Sovereignty and Constitutions . We have a compromised Government and DOJ .

Higher and harsher sentencing for violent crime Lower and more lenient sentencing for drug offences

Correction - pleaded not guilty and said that he was defending himself until he was shown cctv footage of the offence.

You hit the nail on the head Ben. Jails full and no one talking about building a few. FFG running the country from week to week instead of planning 10/20 years. Jails full, GPs full, schools full, Hospitals full but no need to build anything is good policy, the FFG way.

Some years ago the judges in the Irish state were informed by the Minister for Justice to avoid custodial sentences if at all possible. The problem was overcrowded prisons . Nothing has been done to resolve this problem. Ireland now has the worst Minister for Justice in the history of the state. Don't expect anything to change soon. .

Ireland's court system needs major reform. These dingbat judges need removing too.

Suspended sentences should be banned in clear cases of GBH and judges should not be given any choice in decisions, be retrained as clearly they don't seem to be able to sentence for gross bodily harm. What is going on? GBH needs to be taken SERIOUSLY. AND AT LEAST 10 YEARS IN PRISON AS A MINIMUM SENTENCE for clear cut cases like those demonstrated here.

We need judges to be held to a jury review of all sentences, suspended sentences for violent crimes are crazy, leaving them on the streets to do it again

It was awful what happened to Natasha, but it was really really weird how the media and government hopped on the story to highlight it..... it was honestly just bizarre.... there have been other cases that are also truly horrific....like the 12 yr old child who was horrifically sexually assaulted when he went to use the public toilets in a shopping centre in Cork 😭😭😭 Why didn't the media and government make a big deal about this innocent child???????? It makes no sense!!! These despicable judges need to resign......they are utterly horrendous. I thought it was just male judges letting guys off...but it turns out there are female judges also letting guys walk free....guys who have in their possession.....the most awful child sexual abuse content in video form....showing sex between adults and children.....the youngest victim being between 6-12 MONTHS old 😭😭😭 This content was uploaded and shared on internet. Female judges let these guys walk........... I just cannot understand what the he'll is wrong with these judges....... Are they actually human at all?????????

It will never be fixed until the legislative branch of government(the dail) removes the leeway the judiciary has on sentencing, when it comes to violent crime. All violent crimes should come with mandatory minimum custodial sentences, that judges cannot suspend
