that's the point. Bright colours in an animal usually say "don't eat me, I'm poisonous" like the monarch butterfly that or they're trying to attract a mate, like in birds

Depends, look up some photos and decide for yourself. I got stung by one of those when I was a child, from the top of the inside of my thigh, down to my foot. The pain was intense, to say the least. One of the stupid adults I was with treated it as a joke, and dismissed my agony as an over-exaggeration. Thankfully the lifesavers on that beach came to my assistance.

I had one of these wrapped around my ankle in hawaii, think it was a baby, only 10-15 inches long, and the sting surprisingly didn't hurt to much, but what gets your heart rate jacked up is the bright blue/pink colors (Make you think of poisonous or toxic) Didn't help that i couldn't touch it and it wouldn't shake off so i ran up and down the water looking like a crack addict shaking my ankles till it let go.

Merchant Ivory You’re pretty lucky! It was probably a dead tentacle floating around, I got stung by one snorkeling in the FL keys and it looked like someone whipped me across the back with a bull whip. You can feel it stinging from one side of the tentacle to the other over a span of a second or two and the initial pain will take your breath away for a few seconds. I stay far away from them now when I see one lol.

Some people hate the music and effect noises they implement but really it's used to humanize the animals so we can feel and engage with something so different from us like a Portugese Man O' War. We don't really know how it is to have the consciousness or lack of that a jellyfish experiences, but putting pirate music over a jellyfish sail is super effective.

Not 100% accurate. Being a siphonophore doesn't mean it is multiple organisms, a siphonophore is a type of animal. A portuguese Man-of-war is a colony of siphonophores working together.

A sting from a dead one is even highly painful, I would know. One got beaten apart by the surf after its death and I was unlucky enough to be surfing in the vicinity. A detached tentacle had managed to wrap itself around my wrist in the current and immediately I was overcome with the sensation of a fiery rope twisted about my arm. They fade quickly with vinegar treatment, but do not pee on the sting, that's more dangerous than just leaving it until you find vinegar. I'm just happy I wasn't unlucky as my great grandfather, he was ensnared by a live one many years ago and had a scar down his back for the rest of his life. Stay safe my dudes.
