DUDE.....how does EVERYONE forget about SHATTERPOINT??? It's 1 of the MOST unique and widely useful Force Powers in ALL of Star Wars continuity! It's even MORE powerful than the Jedi Wall Of Light! With this Power....Mace can see the Breaking point of a person....a Battle....or even EVENTS! It's SUCH a freaking O.P. power!!!!

Revenge of the Sith made it very clear that Windu was the apex of the jedi order. A wise, but military leader and the greatest of their warriors. Sidious lost because, though a warrior, he had neither the skill nor grit of Windu, and certainly none of the experience. The vapaad lore, wider 'canon' mythos, and all other explanation can be discounted by the mere acting and nuance you see on screen. The master who stays his hand is defeated by one who does not.

When I saw Windu rag dolling an army of droids in the clone wars I was astounded. Then he proceeds to go on a dog fight in the air while riding a droid. He had me sold once he literally one shotted Grievous

Anakin also mentioned it when describing Obi-Wan as "As wise as Master Yoda and as powerful as Mace Windu." He seems to suggest Mace was more powerful than Yoda which Windu demonstrates against Sidious.

Yes, I agree. He is one of the most powerful, and in my mind, totally defeated Palpatine in their duel, in much the same way Kit Fisto is able to dominate Grievous where others could not; his skill set was such that he was able to prevail even if Palpatine was stronger in the Force (presumably).

Sidious couldn’t have ended the fight early, it’s clearly displayed that Mace is already in his form 7 ready stance before Sidious even reaches the group to kill Agen Kolar and Saesee Tiin, Maces skill in lightsaber combat and the force would have allowed him to hold Sidious off and slip into Vapaad IMO, if Anakin didn’t turn up I do believe that Mace would have won outright or Sidious would have attempted to ditch his sabre once he realised that defeating Windu in his Vapaad state was an impossibility.

In the duel with Palpatine, while applying Vaapad, doesn't Mace Windu also add his own power to the melee? Palpatine, in essence, is fighting himself & Mace.

I think mace windu is one of the most powerful jedi. I think in terms of lightsaber combat he is slightly more powerful then sidious. Force wise likely a bit weaker though given we never see the two using a ton of power side by side it's hard to compare. Plus his shatterpoint, force crush and other abilities he always been a favorite and until recent infelt he didnt get the credit he deserves.

Shatterpoint, come on guys, an ability that should never be missed, yeah he's a badass with the glowbat but everyone focuses strictly on his varient of form 7 and glosses over his other abilities... As for how Vapaad works, read how Windu describes it differing from Juyo and states that while Juyo is an out pouring of stoked passion and emotion, akin to destroying a forge and then falling into said emotional states and going along with them. In Vapaad the forge is never destroyed and it is continually stoked from within but controlled, he is then able to take his opposition's fury, anger, hate (etc) into himself and use it to continue to fuel the engagement without it impacting him directly as it is strictly contained, but channeled right back into his opposition.

Mace Windu is the best because he beat the best. Palpatine wasn't holding back waiting for Vader he was trying to kill Mace he just couldn't.

I think mace is just the Achilles heel of powerful dark side users weakness and once he fell it was all good he and yoda was the two the emperor knew can hang with him and anakin. Once yodas right hand man fell it was a wrap

Windus fight with sidious was better than anything in the original trilogy. Windu disarmed sidious, and was unaffected by force lightning, until his hand was cut off obviously.

Mace Windu is my faverout character in the whole of star wars and ranks higher that everyone , (exept palpatine). I'm my eyes he is extremely powerfull, and his seriousness and loyalty to the Jedi ways helps to rank so high on the list!

I 100% agree that Mace Windu genuinely defeated Sidious in that fight however I wouldn't go so far as to say Windu is more powerful than Sidious or even that he was a particularly better fighter than Yoda. I think vapaad specifically is why Windu beat Sidious where Yoda failed. Windu could turn Sidious' own use of the dark side against him, something Yoda could not do. In this way, Sidious was more limited in the battle against Windu than against Yoda. Against Yoda, he could fully unleash his prowess in the dark side whereas the more he did that against Windu, the more powerful Windu became in turn. That's my opinion on the matter anyway.

Personally Mace Windu is one of my favourite Jedi. He has an excellent well rounded build, a very present-moment mindset, excellent pain tolerance and great mental discipline. I would hold him actually as equal to Yoda because Mace is more in tune with his true feelings, it's almost as if he's a borderline grey Jedi.

I'm happy that Lucas said that Windu beat Sidious in the duel. Mace is an awesome character. I think if Sidious would've made it a force duel, he would've beaten Mace, but since it was fairly close quarters, Vapaad was too much for him

Please do one of count Dooku or general Grievous. I know Dooku is a sith and Grievous isn’t a force sensitive but these two are my favorite villains of Star Wars

Love Mace, but he, himself acknowledged that he's Yoda's equal in "neither peace or war," so there's really not much of a debate regarding him vs Yoda.

Hey Master Wave, Mace Windu is my favorite Jedi. Definitely first if not second best duelist of the Clone Wars. I think it would’ve been a good thing if Anakin was taught Vaapad, it could’ve helped him conquer the darkside within himself. If I understand correctly, Anakin never forgot that he wanted to be a hero. And he kindle just went along with Darth Sidious because he had no ‘hope’ left. Also, if he would’ve opened himself up to him maybe Anakin wouldn’t have been so susceptible to Chancellor Palpatines deception. In terms of the Shatterpoint, if I understand that correctly it only tells you the weakness, it doesn’t give you the ability to actually do anything about it. Like, Darth Plagieus believed in his abilities so much he didn’t even fight back against Chancellor Palpatine. But reality is reality. At that moment, asking Master Windu to do anything about Anakin when he’s holding back lightsaber bending lightning is a heavy lift. I thought about how you could use Vaapad against a light side Jedi: The Jedi believed unilateral faith in passivity and detachment enabled them favor with the force. That detachment could also make them unaware to mounting aggression. To this end, Vaapad was used defensively making it seem as if an attack would never come. Cheers!

Mace Windu and Kyle Katarn are two of my favorite Star Wars characters because of how similarly bad-ass they are, though at least Kyle lets himself have fun when he fights, while Windu has to hide it more.

Mace's vaapad was the perfect style to take on Palpatine. It fed off his dark side, and yes, Palpatine was fighting himself.

It would be nice to have the opportunity to see Mace Windu vs Count Dooku. Another duel that would have been nice would be Made Windu vs Anakin Skywalker.

I think he was extremely powerful. He defeated Palpatine,who was pure darkness in his own words which shows how poweful Mace was. He used Vapaad,which is incredibly powerful by itself. May the Force be with you too

Mace Windu is my favorite Jedi he understands not only his nature but also doesn't shy away from the dark side and understands that there must be a balance.

I'm wondering if Sidious was expecting to throw the fight with Mace because of the whole Anakin situation but he didn't understand the extent of how Mace's Vapaad worked and underestimated that.

Listening to this along with some other videos I just came to a conclusion that escaped me. Palpatine knew he was the culmination of the rule of two (meaning the strongest Sith in a thousand or so years). So as he battled Mace and the rest he thought he could win and lost in a lightsaber duel. Also vaapad uses the wielder's darkness as well by channeling it outward meaning palpatine was fighting his own and Mace's darkness. Loosing to mace and confronting yoda made sidiius realise that he had to fallback to his superior force abilities. Unlike his office where he was both limited in space and sure to win in the Senate he (after testing yoda with the force and the lightsaber) loored the grandmaster to a larger space then beat him with the force. This change in tackticks can be seen as proof of Mace's victory and also of how powerfull the 2 top jedi were. In my opinion Yoda was probably more powerfull but Mace had Vaapad which made him more powerfull against sith

Mace is not more "powerful" that Sidious, he is more experienced in actual combat, he is physically stronger, and his combat skills hand to hand and without force etc is above Sidious. In a fight 1v1 like they had Mace would devastate Sidious, I don't know how either of you interpret the fight how you did, but literally Mace is showing off the entire time, just dancing around Sidious while dueling at no point is Mace pressured til Sidious has begun his lightning onslaught.

I love the video mace is prolly my fav it’s a hard battle between anakin yoda mace but to answer your question about if mace is more powerful than palpatine the answer is yes and no mace had the exact style and understanding of the force to defeat palpatine a dark side user shouldn’t be able to defeat mace but a light side user such as yoda, anakin, Luke, even maybe obi wan could defeat mace. But palpatine is more powerful then them individually. In my opinion palpatine lost and won the battle. If anakin never came it would only end with either him dying or them both. It’s either way a fail. He manipulated anakin to betray mace windu he went all out with mace so mace wouldn’t take his focus off palpatine or shatterpoint thus he can’t sense anakins confusion or the betrayal. Palpatine literally says to anakin “I have the power to save the one u love u must chose. “ and after anakin betrays mace and anakin says just help me save Padme i cant live without her, palpatine says the power to cheat death is a power only one has achieved but if we work together I’m sure we will find the secret. Palpatine didn’t even know how to save Padme and may even have know that the betrayal would cause Padme to die. Overall what I’m saying is he was just sayshit to manipulate anakin to betray mace he did not fully know if it would work but that line about Padme did all the damage it needed. Palpatine could not win with raw power he used his friendship and a Jedi of the light side to defeat mace. One on one mace wins because overall mace stops palpatine and the Sith is defeated even if it results in them both dying. But with the help of anakin to help his plan come to fruition. Mace was already the ultimate seven form user even by TPM Era he was able to defeat High Level Form Five Master Plo Koon and everyone else in Saber combat in the order except for THEE Makashi Master Dooku And THEE Ataru Master Yoda which shows Mace was the top three most skilled and powerful Jedi in the order he did not become number two to Yoda until a while after Dooku quit being part of the order yeah.

palpatine was more powerful than Mace Windu however it was stated Mace already Being Comparable To Count Dooku and Being a Master Of Vaapad.. he overpowered the Sith Lord because he turned his own power against them. Therefore Palpatinr defeated himself.

It wasn't the most well choreographed fight. When Palpatine put his lightsaber 3 in away from Maces chest and Mace's arms are out extended to the sides, he could have just used the force to fly his red lightsaber right through his heart.. .

Defeating Mace Windu( if he fought anakin after the sidious duel) would've been one of Anakin's greatest power feats. It would've shown how dangerous anakin and palpatines manipulations are.

When sidious fights yoda he keeps him at bay with the force as he new that he would loose a lightsabre dual to him. So by that account he wasnt scared to have a lightsabre dual with windu, which means that the fight was another form of him manipulating anakin. When someone becomes a sith they usually have to or are forced to comit a horrific crime. I believe sidious was in control the whole time and used the fight to push anakin to step into the fight against windu and the order of the jedi to truly become a sith.

At the time Episode 3 came around Mace Windu was imo the most formidable character combatively but only as far as fighting a darksider is concerned. He would be far more powerful fighting someone like Dooku, Maul or Sidious than he would be fighting someone like Yoda or Obiwan. He is the best literal example of a Jedi's trump card against a Sith. Now Sidious and Yoda are more powerful overall and obviously sit as tier 1 combatants but when fighting a dark side user Mace sits at the same table

Palpatine's plan was to lose to Mace Windu. That doesn't necessarily mean that he let Mace Windu win, just that he knew he would lose if they crossed lightsabers.

Does the fact that the battle started off with a 1 versus 4 not have any bearing? While there was an element of surprise...Sidious started off by fighting 4 council members (including Windu) and killed 3 of them in what seemed like under a minute. If that burst of speed had been used on just Windu, would Windu have gotten overwhelmed? Is fatigue a factor to consider?

How much is power, but how much is training, and skill?

I believe that before Dooku turned, he would slap Windu in a one on one duel. Dooku not using the dark side means Windu loses his main advantage over all dark side users; vaapad. And Dooku specialized in lightsaber v lightsaber combat. He was the premier user of form 2. I honestly think a Dooku not using the dark side would be an extremely difficult fight for any Jedi except probably Yoda.
