How Puberty Changed EVERYTHING! 

My daughter is 10 yrs old and autistic. We have begun the puberty journey. She hasn’t got her period yet, but I know it’s coming. I came across your channel while searching for videos on special needs girls and periods. It was beyond helpful! Autumn reminds me SO much of my daughter. She was diagnosed with autism and a suspected intellectual disability. She was nonverbal until the age of 4/5. We struggled with potty training…especially with regression. I love your parenting style and your approach. Please don’t stop making content. They have been so helpful. ❤

Hi My name is Shawna I'm 37 year's old going on 38 and I was born with a claft palette and few other different types of disabilities. When I was younger I was confused about all of things and going through stimmings. I had to adopt myself for going though changing way back when. Now I'm living independently private personal lifestyle with no caregiver I have my own place to live in. I can go shopping myself and take care of myself. Now I did go to college online and in person it's was really good to know that my future plans were going to be good for me. I put myself on a budget and plans for trips to go to Scotland and others places. I'm going to be in college classes for baking and pastries. Also business. I’m an adult with autism and I still stim with my fingers and rock my body. It helps me to relax and regulate myself better. I also have vocal stims. I have severe anxiety and stimming really helps with that. I have noise reduction headphones for really loud places.

My son has Down Syndrome and he has behavior issues and intellectual disability. He struggles with speech as well and recently his trying to understand how to use his AAC DEVICE

You are a Queen. I have dyslexia and nystagmus. I also have wrist and ankle disabilities from former injuries. I wanted to be a teacher, teacher's assistant or a student assistant in a classroom for children with autism and down syndrome. In my high school students needed to volunteer to graduate. With my vision disability some jobs where to heard for me. I ended up doing my senior volunteer in a classroom for children with autism and down syndrome. Some of my friends had Down syndrome and autism. Some of the children in my school with autism and Down syndrome where nicer to me than other without.

I am 22 and have CP and PDD-NOS. I love fidgeting and doing things with my hands. I’m in college part time and do many things at my church including singing in the band. I also volunteer with a special needs group called Haven Universe that I think autumn would LOVE (music, games, crafts and pizza). I live in MD tho so that would be almost impossible to get to 😂🤪

I am 21 with Autism as well as other disabilities like William syndrome. I do have an intellectual disability. I got diagnosed with autism at 12 years old (April 2015.) I would say I am pretty independent, but not as much as the average 21 year old. I do like to stim and I have quite a few sensory toys in my bedroom that I like to play with. Hi!! I somehow just found your channel. I am a mom to 4. I have two grown daughters, ages 24 and 21, a 10 year old daughter with Down syndrome and an 11 year old son. My daughter with DS recently started her period and it has been a hard and challenging time to say the least. I was not expecting this at 10 years old!! I was doing some research and came across your channel. I love watching your videos and I can’t wait to watch more of them. You and your daughter are both inspiring!! At the moment I don’t have any disabilities but am being assessed for autism when in grade 7. Also had received an EHCP not that long ago at all! Myself is feeling not wrorried about puberty but has been scared about starting my first period. How did Autumn get on with hers? Good luck with speech.

Hi, my name is Lydia and I am an adult with autism, and I wanted to say that I struggled a lot in fifth grade and sixth grade with my puberty as well along with periods, and it was really hard for me going through that. I hope everything is doing well for you guys. I also the last spring ordered a saucer swing and I am obsessed with it as long as it’s nice outside. I also made myself in my room, a little corner where I have my fidget toys and a hammock chair to sit in when needed. I also go to a lot of different therapies like music classes and painting classes and it has helped a lot! Maybe you can find an activity for her that she would like to do outside of school so she can engage with others that have similar disabilities if she’s not doing one already.

Thank you for sharing. I also find it that a lot of people think all of this behavior belongs with Down syndrome and definitely need more assistance. Specifically in schools. My daughter has Down syndrome but getting tested for autism requested by me because of her aggressive behavior, stimming, non verbal, and other behaviors.

I have noise cancelling headphones for really loud places. I’m a 16 going on 17 in September. I’m a 16 year old with Autistic teen girl with ADHD and Anxiety. I like to flap my hands and laugh when or make a sound that’s similar to laughing when I’m happy sometimes as I have done in the past.
