I have a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 with 80k miles. Only had 2 owners it’s whole life. And that 6.1 hemi is a monster. Reliable and powerful 🏆 I will be getting another 6.1 SRT to build for fun but I’m keeping my Jeep stock. Highly recommended
Year late but the 6.1 is my favorite mopar engine can’t wait I’m deciding between a 300 and a jeep. Neighbors are gonna hate me I will definitely be letting that motor scream
Fabulous. My son in New Zealand, 3 year ago, my 65th birthday, SURPRISED me with 2008 SRT 8 6.1, and it is my daily driver. Fabulously reliable and bliss to drive. Near 100,000 miles and 2nd owner. It is RHD and sold brand new in New Zealand, assembled out of Austria, by Magna Styr, a very very old engineering outfit, owned my Daimler AG. Clear coat is lifting a little on mags, so I also must have them refinished one day. The only repair was a Shift Lever in the gear console, made in plastic. 10 minutes work and cheap in New Zealand. I will be buying new wheel bearings this year, front rotors also, a complete set of plugs as well, and a full set of pads of course. I will also fit a K and N. Or MOPAR unit if not to dear. I will be dealing with ROCK Auto here in the US and bringing the parts in. And new boot struts must be bought this year.
They're a good car in Aus got 280,000km just now need to change the rear subframe has actually split where the diff bolts up to makes a hell of a sound when going into drive or reverse other then that been good car.
Amazing car brother. I had the exact same car that I sadly traded in on my current Ram 4x4 but I sure regret it. Mine I found with just a little over 100k on the clock but it was extremely well preserved for the year. If you look at my channel there is a walk-through of it. The paint is pretty darn near immaculate as is the interior. Everything worked when I bought it except the blend doors for the HVAC system on the drivers side vents. That was a relatively easy fix. The ride was super solid except for a little rattle when going over bumps. I later found the upper control arm bushings and ball joints to be bad and replaced them completely. Afterwards it was tight and rattle free even when going over bumps. I did notice some rattles later which I hadn't noticed before because the control arms were so bad but it wasn't the suspension. Turned out that the under engine cover you mentioned was missing on my car which I didn't care too much about until I discovered that it is a structural support member for the front bumper and bumper support. I ordered a new one on ebay along with all the factory clips, nuts and bolts. Once installed this baby drove as smoothly and quietly as a new car. Didn't take away that the suspension is very stiff do to the OEM Bilstein shocks and struts which on mine had been recently replaced according to the seller. I did discover a serious issue with it after owning it for a week or so. It seemed every time I filled the fuel tank, it would repeatedly stall the next time I stopped at a stop light or parking lot. Kept doing that. Was getting very concerned as I was thinking it was going to be some serious mechanical issue since it wasn't throwing any codes in the computer. A lot of research later I discovered that there is a recall for most of these cars involving the fuel tank. Apparently there is a fuel tank venting issue that causes it to basically vapor lock when the tank is full. I contacted Chrysler and they transferred me to the SRT division. Apparently all issues regarding SRT vehicles are handled by a special SRT division at Chrysler, doesn't matter how old the vehicle as long as it is a legit SRT vehicle. They checked my vin number and told me my car was indeed affected by the recall and their records showed that it had never been performed. They got in touch with my preferred local Chrysler, Ram, Jeep dealers to set the appointment for me. I brought it in on my scheduled date and they even gave me a rental for one day. They had the repair done by the next day. I thought that was amazing since as a former Chrysler dealership tech and service writer I know rentals are usually only given if you have an extended warranty in effect which clearly I didn't. SRT division even called me a few days later to make sure everything was fixed correctly. Blown away and that's considering I worked at a couple of dealerships in my younger days. I had left the automotive industry shortly after SRT was introduced across many models besides the Viper so I didn't get to see the SRT division in action. Hopefully they are still intact but I hear SRT is going away completely soon. Hope its not so but do check your vin number to make sure it isn't one of the affected models. If it is, you'll get a new fuel tank and associated venting modules installed for free. Anyway, good look with that amazing car!
I have an 06 and it bout 2 months just hit 200k and man it’s an solid car and fast all I’ve done is change the oil and transmission fluids and just put a new windshield with rain sensor today nice ride#southcarolina
@@thakideli299484k miles is hella good so i’d say around $9-10k ish maybe a little bit more but i usually see alot of them on fb marketplace around that price range
I agree with your opinon. My daily driver's a 2006 Chrysler 300C SRT8 similar to yours, with almost 220'000 miles (350'000km) on it. The rear differential's beginning to be slightly audible (if you know where to get a new, tell me ^^), the gas pump and the throttle body went wrong on mine, had to replace them. Also, a few suspensions issues in the front. But that's it for now! I change the oil every 5000-6000 miles. The most reliable car I've experienced so far. I don't know why some people say it's bad, cause it's not. It's a simply built car, yes, don't expect a german feeling. But I believe its simplicity is its force, it's great, comfortable, and sounds great. I'd buy it again for sure.
The Pentastar 3.6 is turning out to be a reliable Engine as well, now into its 3rd generation. Even with high mileage people are saying that their Reliable and the power is not diminishing.
I think with all electric cars coming out the hemi will be a classic gold mine with car clubs I see dodge painted the engine block orange after the 426 Hemi
I have the srt8 with the 6.1. This same car, black also, except mine has 70 0000kms and in mint condition. (2 tiny rock chips and somebody must have hooked and broke off an inch of the chrome trim on the passenger side when I was in Home Depot. Questions… How collectable is this car right now? And what should I do with this car? Keep it because of low kms? Most people think it’s a new car and are very surprised when I tell them it’s age, I love the look of it. Love how I can get away from anything on the road in two seconds, cuz I don’t like being crowded. Or asked to race. Sell it for more than I paid? I did pay 13000 CAD two years ago. And where in America is this car most sought out? Only a lover of this car deserves it. Maybe me.
I have 2006 srt8 I have it sense 2008 I have 92,7770 mi on it and we still love it. The only thing I would trade it for is 3023c (red) but the jury is still out on it.
@@MattsMotoWoRX no 08 to they changed to newer body shape so around 2011 I think. Good luck finding them though I know in Australia you have a better chance of winning the lottery then finding a set of them
I've had mine for 6 years and it's been very good to me except recently the tcm went bad and then a couple weeks later the pcm went other than that it's been great
I have a 07 300 srt8, thermostat went out, and conductor plate harness is leaking so I'm waiting on all my stuff to come in to change trans fluid well I'm at it special dip sticks and shi, those 2 things are the only problems in 1 year and a couple months of ownership
Your better off getting a low mile 5.7l it’s still performs great and sounds amazing straight piped trust that’s the route I went and haven’t regretted my decision
I bought one for the asking price it was worth it engine and heads were rebuilt at 177K it’s FBO and cam’d, I bought a Design at 74K it failed and I had to rebuild it at 105K I’m at 197K in my SRT-8
