How ROCK LEE stood on BUSINESS against GAARA

Rock Lee is the only real ninja in Naruto. Everyone else is a wizard or an alien pretending to be a ninja.

It was actually a 3 vs 1 in that fight. We got Gaara, his mother (the sand), and Rigby (Shukaku) versus Rock Lee. But at least Lee tried.

What's crazy is that Lee was saving the Fourth Gate and the weights for Neji, Rock Lee was about to send to that man to the after life 300 episodes early. 😂

Makes no sense how Gaara didn't get knocked out after all of those hits. I don't care how strong that sand shield is, the g-forces generated by getting hit by Lee would KO anyone.

All I can say is two things: 1) Lee had Gaara’s sand dripping off his face while he suffered a small asthma attack after that right hook; but sasuke’s punch just put a little crack in the armor 2) if Lee fought anyone else like that (save for Demon Naruto or anyone using poison/genjutsu/substitution-spamming techniques), he probably would’ve killed them

Lee when talking to Gai Sensei after this fight and before lee’s operation is heartbreaking man. “Why am I the only one being punished like this”

This was literally the fight that made me think Lee should've been the main character of the show, moreover, when guy gave his monologue after Lee stood, brought me to tears, and Naruto getting so angry on Lee's behalf, I truly believe this fight and everything surrounding it truly was the epitome of what this series should have been. Though I guarantee you, Neji was probably going, thank you Gara for fucking that dude up because there was no way I could've hung with him.

It's very annoying when people say "Rock Lee could've beat Gaara but Gaara had to win for plot". This take whenever Lee vs Gaara comes up in different types of was all the time and I can't stand it because it's completely incorrect. Rock Lee could not have beaten Gaara at all at that point in time due to him still being inexperienced with the Eight Gates and Gaara having Shukaku backing him up the whole fight. Like, I feel like people who say this never watched past that fight or just skipped both Sasuke vs Gaara's short match or skipped Naruto vs Gaara. Both Naruto and Sasuke did significantly more damage to Gaara than Lee (Shit, Sasuke made him bleed his own blood for the first time) and it took Naruto summoning a giant fucking Toad to finally take Gaara out because the more Gaara was getting hurt the more angrier he got and the more...killier(does that work?) he got causing him to take on a partial-tailed beast transformation. And you know what would've happened to Lee if he fought that Gaara right? And the whole fight Kakashi was getting on Guy's head on how teaching a child something like the Eight Gates was completely dangerous and reckless while Guy was deflecting Kakashi's (fair) criticisms of Guy's teachings while trying to say how he saw how much this meant to Lee and saying that he would follow Lee to the end only for him to realize at the end of the fight when Lee lost that he fucked up as a teacher by putting all that nonsense in Lee's head because it got him crippled when Lee should've just gave up because he was outmatched. Gaara's arsenal countered his perfectly And there was a whole nother conversation about how dangerous the Eight Gates were when it was getting explained to Naruto and Sakura about how much stress the Gates puts on a person's body and it literally ends with them saying how the final Gate is the Gate that kills people. Lee was never going to win logically. He was outmatched by someone who was born with greater strengths than him and even teaches a lesson that sometimes Hard Work is not enough in the end to overcome Natural Talent or Gifts (something Lee tried to push when he fought Sasuke). The ending of the fight is supposed to make you feel bad for Lee because there was literally no way he was winning this fight and that he was just grasping at straws the whole time. It's a bittersweet ending that should've taught a lesson about themes that were explored in the fight but we get the same whining everywhere about how Lee totally could've won but the plot was just against him (not saying it wasn't since Naruto is a Plot-Driven Story, but to say Lee lost SOLELY because of the Plot is completely incorrect and misses the point of the fight)
