VIDEO INTRODUCTION: On the 5th of October 2022, the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies including Russia agreed to cut their production of oil by 2 million barrels a day. This is so much oil that it accounts for 2% of the entire world's oil supply and this can have some severe consequences on economies all across the world including the US, UK and India. Now considering the fact that both US and UK are already at the brink of a recession, this oil spike could escalate their situation to a disaster!!
Which is why, in response to it, the United states are passing something called the NOPEC bill!! and the UK govt is deploying something called Price cap strategy!! So in short, Russia, Middle east and the west are now engaged in an oil war that could decide the fate of the world economy in 2023!!!
So the question is,
What exactly is OPEC and why are they cutting down their oil production?
What is this NOPEC bill all about?
What is UK's price cap strategy?
And most importantly, how will this oil war affect India and the world in the next 1 year???

A global recession, defined as a contraction in annual global per capita income, is more rare because China and emerging markets often grow faster than more developed economies. Sigh I am very disappointed in Americans, I have been warning of this since 2017 and no one listens. They just call us lunatics, get extremely indophobic and run us off the platform entirely. FYI, Biden's sanctions are starving 30 million to 50 million people in the global south ( according to estimates by the world food programme, world bank etc). They are gonna cause massive fertiliser shortage which will worsen the food crisis because Russia and belarus produce 90% of fertiliser. Then USA is trying to stoke civil war in Tunisia because they have phosphate used for fertilisers. Also, Biden is re re re negotiating the Iran deal and he has stubbornly dug his feet in the ground which is holding up Iran crude that could calm oil prices. But because he royally pissed MBS and UAE off, they gonna get mad if USA tried to lift IRan sanctions so he has dug a nice little hole for the world right now. Meanwhile, all its gonna take is for china to start its own insurance companies (read about the redlining of land China did and then compare that to Nixon his nature preserves and gold shock. It is not about nature but bolstering the currency) to undo all of EU efforts. And china has been doing this with venezuela for a while. How do you think China developed a massive presence in latin america? I mean I could go on and on and on but yeah USA media only manufactures consent. The whole coverage of the war is wrong. They are not even discussing what is really happening, aka Russia getting access to the black sea and how important turkey is because it controls the dardanelles strait and why armenia azerbaijan conflict is playing a massive role. And how all of that is gonna affect everything. BEcause once they get that access, how are you gonna differentiate between middle eastern oil and russian oil to begin with? There is so much. Although that doesn't seem very hard to switch away from. If Saudia offered to insure them, they could charge the same amount, and be pretty sure that they'll come away with the same kind of profit that the UK insurance company is coming away with. Especially when the alternative is to suffer large losses in case of a recession. It would be simpler if the UK etc. just made a deal with OPEC to continue buying oil at the current price for a few extra months, even if a recession results in lowered oil prices. That way, you're not forcing them to take losses on your behalf, and they don't have as much reason to try and sabotage you.

i am in the UK now and market crashes yet it has not bottomed, It has no business at this level in the first place, pumped up by the Fed and central banks around the world. You can still be 100% invested at this level. Good luck! I prefer to sell the bounce and keep 50% cash. I will not get back into the market more than 50% if S&P is not 30% lower from here. I trade and make quick profits. With this inflation and my expectation on the economy, I am ok with 70% cash. I don’t short the market. Just keep selling the bounce!

Actually there is no complexity here. Our education model is very bad. We were not taught to think out of box , why and how...never been created curiosity to dig out answers on our own from school days . We were taught strictly to memorize what was printed on text boobs and rewrite on papers without mistakes. We got one advantage out of it, I.e good memory retaining power. But lost reasoning power in this process.

@@1mol831 You are wrong man . Even if USA wants to dig out it's own oil, first of all, it is of impure quality Shell oil. Secondly, the cost of putting up oil digging machineries & labour charge in USA is too high. And the crude oil becomes so expensive after it was refined, that cost of selling price would become 10x times higher than other OPEC countries oil price. OPEC crude oil processing is easier than USA shell oil which produces toxic substances while refining it to get other petroleum products. That is why, USA is depending on Venezuela now.

As a trader/investor, I find gaps in the explanation (as forwarded by my friend), and let's not get caught up in the headline-making world news of the day today. Crude was $140 in 2008, and in 2021 the high it saw was $115. Crude is in a secular long-term bear market, and the US though having its own oil reserves, is not investing any more in drilling. With the latest inflation reduction act, the US will provide its consumers/people 30% of the expenses on solar installation. All this leads to the further fall of crude, especially now more so with the hike in interest rates as America wants to squeeze out excess liquidity in the global market (with 60% of its currency outside in the global markets) than in the US. Saudi Arabia is priced at $76 per barrel for the next year in its annual budget.

I actually disagree. OPEC is not an oil cartel because it acts and protects its interest. It's a western propaganda to call it a cartel because it does not serve their interest. There are countries in OPEC which have been exploited by western countries before they joined OPEC. OPEC gave these countries the money that is theirs and not to some western oil company that simply exploited a country's natural resources. An example is BP (British Petroleum) exploiting oil fields in African countries. They joined OPEC and got protection.

This price cap strategy will definitely backfire on Europe. The Saudis and their OPEC+ allies will simply reject selling the oil at a lower price and they can play the waiting game a lot longer than Europe can.

The price cap will only be on Russian oil, and Russia is entirely dependent on oil sales right now to keep their economy floating. However, I agree the price cap will backfire. The Saudi's and UAE are clearly concerned about its potential to be used against them in the future, giving them strong motivation to back Russia and see it fail. And Europe has no leverage in this matter, and the US very little.

I;m not sure what point you're making, but the Saudis certainly don't want another price war. Which could happen if Russia is forced to increase production to cover the shortfall from the price cap. But that won't happen so long as OPEC + keeps the market tight.

It doesnt matter if something was Rs 10 a few years ago. If your only choices today are Rs 12 Rs 40 and Rs 50 on top of which you have to put in resources to actually use it, you will always buy Rs 12. And pleas keep yourself informed. You seem to be under the impression that Saudis are going to do a price war against Russia. That is not going to happen. They settled with each other long ago. OPEC + which includes Russia is going to have a price war with the west. The west keeps threatening and using sanctions on Russia. And Saudis were caught in pricing wars between Russia and USA and were pissed at USA demanding they losen the taps every time or inability to sell at high prices to global south while west guzzled cheap Russian oil with sanctions ( see what happened in 2014). So Russia and Saudis decided they will restructure the world oil supply chain. Russia will increase its influence in developing countries by supplying them oil and they will be reliable buyers because they wont sanction Russia. And Saudis can charge high prices from the west. Why else do you think EU is losing its mind right now? And developing countries are happy because they will be protected from the offloading of cost of war west decides to wage without looping anyone else in. Seriously if you people want to harp on some nonsense propaganda go on Fox or CNBC or CNN or whatever. This place is for sensible discussions

No oil companies are investing in new traditional wells, let alone fracking. And please keep your tone respectful, being rude doesn't make you sound smarter, especially when you're clearly having trouble keeping up with the conversation. I never said there would be another price war between Russia and Saudi Arabia, in fact I said the exact opposite. I said the Saudi's have every reason to ensure the price cap fails because if it succeeds it could lower prices in the short term and, in the long term, could be used against them. Finally, developing countries are not happy about the price of oil. Even those buying discounted Russian oil are still paying historically high prices for oil. Rs 12 may be the best price they can get right now, but they were paying Rs 8 a few years ago and western powers don't seem to care about the effect their sanctions are having across the globe.

Great episode! It's always nice to see a thorough analysis without some propaganda goal. But I think that the monopoly of UK insurance will be gone soon - they are not the only ones who are experts in this, since there are many countries with islands and shipping studies. Russia can benefit once again by providing experts and logistics plans, once more breaking EU spine
