I’ll summarise this 10 minute for you: wear the watch at the tightness you find comfortable. Ideally, have the watch lug to lug distance not extend over the width of your wrist, but a little extra can sometimes be okay.

I prefer smaller watches too, especially with dress watches. Oversized dress watches really miss the point of elegance and sophistication imo.

Had a Rolex dealer tell me it was better to wear a Jubilee bracelet tighter. He said that wearing it loose is what causes most of the stretch over time.

Any plans for a video with your watch maker who services the watches and the process he/she goes through? As someone who is just starting to learn about watches, especially vintage, it would be interesting to get a better understanding and look at that process.

I have always followed the one finger rule for strap/bracelet sizing. When adjusted/ sized correctly, you can fit your index finger under the strap bracelet.

Another part of the conversation is where to wear the watch - some wear between between the carpels and metacarpels, others wear it over the carpels, and some others around the radius and ulna

When is a watch too small? It would seem that some 34mm watches are too small for me! Some are ok but I have to try them on! I have a 7.75mm wrist! 36mm seems to be the lower limit and 39-42 works well with 40mm being the sweet spot for me!

Back in "The Day", no one cared about watch size because all the watches were 32-36 mm in size. The only people wearing larger watches than that were wearing a dive watch, an aviator watch, or timing a chronograph watch. You are on the right track. Seen so many "small watches" that looked perfect on my 7.50" wrist. Seen a bunch of watches that at 42 mm looked too big and some 44 mm that were just right. As Kwai Chang Caine would say, "who can say". Especially without wearing them first.

I have a variety of case sizes in my collection. As long as the lugs don't hang over my wrist I don't care how big the case is.

The JLC Reverso's lugs slope down a bit so it can look like it'll fit on a smaller wrist. The medium sized JLC is 42.9 mm in length but it can fit a medium wrist. Perhaps you were looking at a one of the larger sized Reversos.

I wear it snug with the pulp of the finger being able to go through.

I bought a Tudor Black Bay earlier in the summer when it was really hot and humid and now that it's starting to get a bit cooler the lugs are definitely creeping closer to the edges of my arm. It's still fine but it's surprising how much of a difference the seasons can make.

Whenever I see someone wearing a watch loose and sliding, I think to myself that they don't know how to wear a watch .

There is a watch that I could never wear but it is historically accurate, even if it is a homage. Steinhart has a 47mm pilots watch in both A dial and B dial. As long as I am not trying to fly a biplane I won't be wearing one. Other companies such as Stowa and Laco have scaled these down to 40mm which is a much better size for a daily wear watch. For me, on my 8.25 inch wrist, I like watches between 44mm and 36mm depending on type. I would love to try on a Panerai Pam111 and a 36mm yellow gold Rolex Day-Date on the president bracelet.

Disagree. Straps should be worn medium to tight. A watch on a bracelet should be worn much looser. Not spinning on your wrist but should have definite movement

I love your channel and have followed it for a while but could you please fix the audio issues sometimes. For example, your audio in the intro is always significantly louder than the rest of your video which makes it very annoying to watch on headphones or in ear monitors :)

I like a snug fit not a tight fit whenever I’m having my watches sized I tell the watchmaker I like a tighter fit but whenever I say that everyone assumes I’m one of those people that wear the watch so tight that it’s cutting off blood circulation in my opinion that’s just way too tight and it’s uncomfortable but I also hate when people wear their watches so loose that it’s flying up and down their whole arm and rotating I wear my watches so that they don’t move and they don’t rotate but it’s not so tight that your fingers are turning purple, to me that’s the perfect fit but being that I live in Vegas and when the summer time comes it’s upwards of 105° and zero humidity I have no choice but to wear my watch’s loose because they get real tight on me if I leave them at that fit my black bay and explorer right now for instance are loose I hate it but as soon as it cools down I run to the watchmaker and have them put back to my preferred fit. But at the end of the day it’s just preference there is no correct way to wear your watch if loose and all over the place is your thing then that’s how you ware your watch 👍
