How Should You ACTUALLY Play Palworld! | Difficulty Affects MORE Than You Think! 

It's not Pokemon with Guns, but Ark with Pokemon and I'm glad you recognize that! I appreciate your objective reviews of the game and it's helped me set the record straight with some of the dissenters and discourse surrounding the game currently

I'm really glad there are options to turn down specific aspects of the game. I'm not a fan of hunger in most survival games so being able to tone it down is fantastic!

I love the various difficulty options. I'll likely use custom. I want enemies to do normal damage but i don't want the grind or survival mechanics being tedious.

i'm not gonna lie, I'll be on an Easy server. I'm too old for the rush-to-your-dead-body thing. Easy mode sincerely seems to make it into /more/ of a mon game. I love that option being there

Palworld is like a dream combo for me, I love survival games and I've been a big monster collector fan since Pokémon came into existence, Palworld has aspects to it that I think suit the genres it's crossing over better than most games match their mechanics Thinking of starting on a harder difficulty and possibly moving to a custom difficulty model for multiplayer co-op (or PvP eventually) Thank you for covering this game and giving it exposure so the community is aware of it and can grow

Great video Your perspective as a Monster-Taming game fan has been really valuable because I think this is a Survival game which draws Monster Game fans and that is a diffferent audience than Survival game fans generally. I recall for Ark having to increase the taming timer and even in that taking 20+ minutes to tame a dinosaur that died pretty quickly was agonizing, I look forward to adjusting the settings hear to keep the game challenging but engagin .... Also I want to make sure Night is like Half as long as day is haha.

I have watched some people play and I can't wait to put my hand on it! As someone who have put over a 1k hours in botw, play minecraft 3 times a week for 5 hours at least, obsessed with pokemon and love FBD games... This game is everything in one bag, I can't wait to put 100s of hours I it😊

I've been watching your videos for a bit (sorry for not subbing until now) but I am in that hybrid between Monster Taming Game Fan and Survival Game Fanatic. So I'm super excited to see this. I also saw that there are base levels. I hope that if not now, but in the future, we can tweak it so we can raise our base levels faster but keep our regular EXP gain normal since I don't want to be max level after an hour in-game, but I also don't want to grind out for 40 hours to get to base level 7 or something like that.

I play all games ever on easy. Im casual and proud. Gaming is my passtime so i just want a simple fun experience to pass the time.

If you set the difficulty and then go look at custom settings. The settings will be set to that difficulty and that was what I was hoping to see in this video. Showing exactly what was different. As I'm probably gonna play on hard cause I have a feeling that is the authentic palworld experience from what I have seen so far and what servers are going to be set too. As the first npc talks about how all the others in his expidition were eaten. As I wish this dialogue changed on different difficulties. Cause I know that isn't really happening on normal or easy and I also wish for the game to have a reward for playing on more difficult settings. To make players challenges themselves. Otherwise I really don't like difficulties in games. As I'm fine with a story difficulty for people who just want to enjoy the story. My biggest gripe with server based games are these settings. That essentially let's people ruin the games for themselves. Setting everything to astronomical numbers and just getting bored real fast. So I wish and hope the game adds systems to reward for playing without heavily editing the settings or to give you more for having harsher settings. Like stronger pals or better chances for Lucky pals. As most games that don't have difficulty settings just do better and have more interest and if they do have difficulty settings. The ones like Dead Space 2 or Remnant which reward you for harder gameplay is the way to go. As I hate playing the game too hard if there is no incentive, but also hate playing it too easy making the normal gameplay not feel very strong or engaging. So I always find myself deterred by difficulty settings. Trying to decide what I can set it too. To have the most fun. Imagine pokemon just being a game where it took one pokeball to catch everything. You one-shot every enemy. Your pokemon took next to no damage. Gaining a full level for fighting pokemon that are lvl 1 at lvl 80. Where would be the fun in that. There just wouldn't be. As why it's pointless for pokemon to have these settings and would only hurt the game if it did.

I just put it hard with no changes, and it's already hard until you get used to it. It's pretty fun once it becomes a bit competitive

me, my wife and 2 brothers are so excited to play this on day one. super excited how we can adjust difficulty since we all work full time and don't wanna play for and hour or 2 and get NOTHING done :D

Always nice to have custom settings, I want it to be hard. With strong and durable enemies but I also want exp gain, hunger, resource gathering and stuff to be "normal" speed

I'm no noob when it comes to survival games but tbh I only ever heard of the Pal's part of Palworld until just recently. That being said I do want to just focus on Pal's however as long as I can turn hunger down as low as it can go if not completely off then I'll be fine. Like I want to experience the game as it is but my last few games with hunger systems weren't kind to me.

I'm really looking forward to Palworld especially because when I was younger I never had the pleasure of playing all the games like this, but I did sink a few hours into Miscrits on facebook. Do you know by any chance if the achievements are tied to the difficulties at all? I really dislike those type of achievements but since I like hunting for achievements I end up playing differently than I want to

Can you change the difficulty later? Or do you need to start over to switch difficulties?

Palworld gives me the same vibes as Terraria in terms of loose story gameplay goals, different difficulties, etc. I guess dropping pals means all the pals in your party disappears? Then the last mode must be permadeath. It means death means you die and have to make a new character like permadeath characters in Terraria. I wonder if you can only build your base on top of existing land or you can adjust the land and make changes?

If Im playing on an offline world alone or with my friends, can I change difficulty and custom settings mid-run or is it like V-rising where you have to decide when that world as generated and cant ever change it?

normal difficulty with not losing my stuff on death would be fine by me. It can get recursive at times with the thing that killed continuing to do so as you try to get your stuff back and can just get really annoying. Also might tone down food because it's always just felt like a timer that stopped the fun for a few minutes as I stuff berries in my face.

I only ever played on hard, and in retrospect, I'm so glad I did. There isn't a really endgame at the current stage of development, so taking my time to get there was a blessing in disguise.

The music is "Semifinal Battle" from Pokemon Colosseum, which is a good game that I recommend.

Is there a way to see the exact setting for every Difficulty stage? For example i would be interested to use casual and the tweak maybe a couple of thing. Or set everything to "normal" and then tweak it to be a bit easier/faster progression. But as far as i could see, the custom section always has one default but we cannot see the actual values of the 3 Presets?

Saw a review that said the game is easy, but they failed to mention that hard mode was a thing so I'm super happy to hear about it. The tone of of your video made it feel a bit like you were being condescending toward higher difficulties though which is a bit disappointing. Regardless I appreciate the info. There are a lot of games that I desperately want to enjoy but can't due to them being too easy for me. Knowing that there is a hard mode and several parameters I can alter makes me way more excited about Palworld. Thanks!

Can we change difficulty at any time? I'm thinking hard mode honestly because I don't mind the grind but I would hate to make some amount of progress and then want to tone it down and not be able to.

I'm actually going to crank the settings up to hard and then turn down only a few things. For this being early access, I imagine a lower difficulty will have a lot of players blasting through everything that in the EA too quickly and get burnt on it before a week is even up. Theres not enough building pieces and stuff to go hard in building, I heard the dungeons are pretty repetitive too. So in order to make my game last a bit I'll drag it out through some of the gathering mechanics and making the pals harder to catch, also make the pals more spongey and hit harder to add to the difficulty, kinda like a souls like Pokemon feel lol, but get rid of the losing all pals on death, thats just a little too brutal lol. Looking forward to this game for sure.

Am i going to be able to catch one of the earlier pals & just stick with over leveling it to endgame? Make it my anime Pikachu? Only catch others for mounts & factory work & such. Ill look into the breeding later, thats the most intriguing thing to me.

I don't think Easy is for monster taming fans because battles too get easier. Custom mode is where it's at. That's the mode I'll play on. Eventually.

Can you change difficulty or world settings once you set them?

I would like huge groups of them so the ability to quickly obtain large quantities of recorders without much travel and to not have to spend as much food is a serious must

I love how many players who makes similar guide videos how to customize the setting to how to actually play Palworld and then clank the EXP rate to the maximum. Seriously, I understand higher exp rate means you level up faster, but the level cap is 50 (for now) and it get boring when you can reach that cap in just a few hours. I set my EXP rate to 0.5, but with Pal encounter appearance rate to max. This also affect bosses and alpha's (normally one, now it's three appearing??).

It just blows my mind that Exp. Rate can be multiplied by 20. That's nuts. This comes out like...6 days before the calendar day that another, totally different game I am *really* looking forward to launches: Tekken 8. So, I think I'll go ahead and appreciate this rare opportunity. Feels like a cheat code honestly, and 0.1 Hunger Depletion and Stamina Reduction Rates? Very fun. Even more excited for this than I already was. For me, in Eastern time, it is just two 3:00 AMs away! So...a little under 36 and a half hours. A day and a half!

Palworld is looking really good, but I am still only carefully optimistic about it. Because I DO remember Craftopia and how that game is still in Early Access. Honestly looks like they shifted development over to Palworld, which makes sense, but also feels a bit shitty for all the people who bought Craftopia expecting it to be a full release one day.

To tweak or not to tweak. That is the question.

Is there an option to disable permadeath on your pals? I've heard that by default they just "faint" in battle but die if their sanity runs out while working at your base. Are their alternative penalties for running out of sanity?

The only thing I would tone down is the crafting time for everything. While uping the regeneration of the HP in the palbox and the player, when you're in a safe zone no reason to wait for those a long time.

Something to note, its pretty common to double or more the gathering amounts in games like ark when playing pve. I would recommend anybody playing this game to change only the QoL settings like gathering, catch rate, etc... if you can change catch rate I mean. Edit: another one is buffing certain character stats like weight and stamina.

considering its early access and stuff might get wiped/ needing to make a new character for when multiplayer happens ill prob jsut stick with easy

Yeah arks a perfect example of grindy. And if custom can always make things more difficultly while having time for crafting or certain things set to a easier time

I’m currently playing on what I like to call insane mode. I’ve turned down all the player and pal stats so I died to a level 2 lambell like 6 times before catching it as my first pal. Oh and yeah took about like 8 spheres. I need to redesign my base because my farmer pals can’t do one task pick up the item and bring it to the food bin without going hungry. I’ve probably spent about two hours+ in just farming cause I accidentally leave my base with not enough berries (like 100+ lmfao) then by the time I get back my pals eat through everything and they’re legit starving xdddd I totally messed up the npc’s players dps though cause my pals like one shot the human invaders but they struggle against pals 5 levels lower 😂. Oh and my bow shots crit deal 1 damage to level 2’s 🙃

Custom difficulty? Blessed. I don't care if this stays in EA-land forever now. I love being able to customize out how I prefer to play for survival games.

I pray that over time they create a solid, reliable and durable system to store Pals, similar to Pokemon Home, and that has a way to track who captured/where/when and the ID is strong so it doesn't become something uncontrolled and full of hackers

I just don't like the fact the company advertised it as a monster catching game with gun combat and big arena battles and not this Rust/Ark-esque style of gameplay that I've seen in the videos. I didn't know there's no real story and you make your own server (or join one) I was under the impression this was a story mode game with the option of drop in & drop out co-op available with missions, etc. I don't remember any crafting in the trailers aside the ones done by the Pals, it seems they kinda tried to get the attention of Pokemon and Monster Hunter fans with the trailers but left out the core of the game which is crafting, and may be a turn off to some people (sadly me) (Great videos btw, new subscriber)

I've never understood how making eggs take longer to hatch or raise up increases difficulty. All it's doing is wasting time. Nothing about it becomes more difficult other than your social and work life

Lots of mixed opinions about Palworld. Seems lots of people say it's pretty barren and the gameplay loop is boring and repetitive. I'll have to download it on Friday via Game Pass and try it for myself though. Also, 3:01 "an frozen egg"

I dont mind games being grindy, but it has to be reasonable. Ark for example is *NOT* reasonable if you are alone and it becomes pointless if have a bunch of people. I am happy for the options.

Hard difficulty gives me a lot of DayZ vibes, losing everything upon death, I know it's not in game yet, but I hope they add a permadeath option where if you die the entire save gets deleted.

Idk how I feel about how they did difficulty. There are a lot of games that sort of do it the opposite way. Harder difficulties usually ramp up damage taken and make enemies harder BUT give you more xp/loot than normal to reward you for playing harder difficulty modes. This just makes the grind worse which honestly is kinda ass lol

Good game, but I don't like the fact that you can skip challenges by capturing low level pal with bonus xp 10 times for each pal and still can level up to 50. They need to fix that.

Play on normal peeps. Easy might be alluring at first but could be rather stagnant towards late/mid game. Yes, hunger bars can be rather annoying but some games do the feature justice. Don’t adjust yet! Play the game, get a feel for it, then adjust accordingly! ^^ I am very experienced survival game enthusiast (over 4k hours on Ark) and this game is very promising!! I just always recommend playing on default/normal before tweaking server settings!
