There is a major difference between peacekeepers and peacemakers. The concept of keeping the peace comes from the world and the concept of making peace comes from the Lord. In this video, Jesse Randolph lays out common conflict avoidance strategies the world promotes and compares them with biblical conflict resolution strategies.

So timely for me in what I’ve been going through recently. I see how the Lord has instructed me to see that the problem lies in me before I even addressing it. And He’s using it to confirm me. What a blessing

A year ago a prominent person in church that I highly esteemed slandered me so badly that I lost my reputation as a woman and as a Christian. I lost all credibility. Even though I was very hurt, it’s been on my heart every day to reach out to this person not to ask why they did that, but rather to own up to whatever I could have done that caused this person to act this way. I want to make peace. But I’ve been afraid to do that. I’m afraid that reaching out will somehow make things worse. I don’t know if someone can share their insight with me but are there situations where it’s better to leave things the way they are?

The intent here is good and I received good reminders. But. How does keeping peace inherently dishonor God? At it’s core, keeping peace is simply working not to intentionally create conflict. That’s not sin. That statement is a stumble. Nowhere in scripture is peace keeping condemned simply bc peace making is glorified. The provided examples for peace keeping aren’t even peace keeping. It would’ve been helpful to clarify this given that what the world merely SEES as peace keeping provides no one with peace- only internal suffering. More time, intention, and eloquence is owed here given the age we live in, how words are received, and the degree of influence this channel has the potential to have

I think, in this present time, conflict itself is viewed as the enemy, the ultimate evil. If two people are at odds, that means something is inherently wrong. The world peddles for “world peace” and “acceptance,” a world where no one argues about anything. In order for this to occur, however, all people would have to compromise any standard of right and wrong. As Christians, we know that Christ came not to bring peace but the sword, that we will endure suffering and persecution, and that families even will be separated because of the Christian’s allegiance to the truth. In many cases we are warned not even to associate with certain types of people. So, if keeping peace with someone or a group of people means accepting their error and lack of repentance, or compromising on the standard of truth (Christ) then that is actively dishonoring to God. Before we act to keep peace with others, we are first required to be in right standing with the Lord. Which in turn creates conflict with those who are not. It’s true this video perhaps could have specified a little more if that is what they meant, but that’s what I took from it! If that helps!

@@KassidyBranch It does and I appreciate your perspective, but I do address this. I try to keep comments short though which I guess failed me here. What I'm saying is that what you've described as the world's peace isn't peace at all- hence, the part talking about internal suffering- so, why describe it as peace keeping ig. However, your explanation def still helps because sometimes I forget that I have autism and take words "too literally" (which I lowkey don't see the problem with bc we should use the definitions their given but cool sarcasm and metaphors exist or whatever)😂😂 I nitpik because more and more people are becoming nuerodivergent and more and more people don't know Christ. I think its important to be sensitive (without sugarcoating ofc) with how we speak to each other and explain concepts to those looking for just one more reason to give up on seeking God and harden their hearts.

@@ayiir7 I totally get what you are saying! and I definitely see how his phrasing was a little vague. What we do know, and what we heard in the rest of the video, is that we need to do all we can to 1. “Pursue at peace with all men” (Heb. 12:14a) but also 2. To pursue peace “with sanctification, without which no one will see the Lord.” (Heb.12:14b) Peace is the Lord’s, like you implied in your comment. We do all we can to be at peace “so far as it depends on you” (Rom. 12:18) meaning responsible for your own attitude of peace/forgiveness towards others- not necessarily the peace/forgiveness of who holds an offense against you. The World’s peace (which, you are very right, is no peace at all, we just have to be vigilant to recognize the terminology they use) is more of a constant fear of upsetting/offending others, and remaining quiet and weak in matters of conviction and truth, simply to “keep the peace.” So yeah, the language of course is really saddening, since we should just be able to use God’s word and His definitions- but the enemy loves to take God’s perfect principles and twist them into something powerless and deceptive, disguised as altruism. We just have to be aware of that, and I believe that’s what he was aiming to say- but I do agree he could have elaborated more for clarity! So so sorry to ramble on and on and I think I repeated myself 😭 but I understand the struggle and I just thought your question was a good one and wanted to see if I could help with what the video was saying, which I believe is very wise!
