Last test wasn't performed fairly: with Makena & Oringo you walked around the obstacle (and so did they, following your exact path, choosing the same side of the obstacle), while with Ipy you just moved your hand through the obstacle - and so did she. So i believe you've underevaluated Ipy's intelligence =)
I've tried this one with my previous dogs, but never the basenjis. I wouldn't say it shows their intelligence, but it does show how the dog thinks, and how motivated they are to solve the problem. It's so interesting! It makes sense to me that Makena is better at it than Oringo, because his handler focus is naturally higher (personality), and he trains more. Both of those things makes him more inclined to think about what YOU want him to do in a situation, rather than choose for himself. Makena is more likely to do what SHE thinks is best, and she's certainly a clever lady! And Ipy's a teenager through and through. Literally straight through! 😂
I literally agreed with you before reading. When she said Oringo is highly trained. I thought he’s going to follow what his trainer does first. Whereas Makena will think it out in her head. Ipy just young untrained She’ll prolly learn quicker than them both from Watching them both though. I ponder what the test would be like for oringo and ipy if they watch makena from one side of the gate and then get to take the test themselves again. It’s a ponderance of how they’d learn alone and teach each other
@@burningspear90 oh you are absolutely right, they do learn a lot from each other! Ipy learned the 'place' concept to wait for food while I prep it in the kitchen, because she was watching what Oringo and Makena were doing 😊
