Actually, there is one thing you forgot to note in these calculations. The health of the doppelgänger is always fixed, so even if they transform they keep their health Stat. Meaning if he transformed into a minmax power build, or a low level build, he could potentially beat it because he has a lot of HP to compensate.

Pandora's true power is his intelligence, if he duplicates his enemy he learns all their abilities and at the time their chosen tactic if its in the forefront of their mind... then doppleganger switches to the perfect counter for a "super effective". Rather than hit and run attacks, go full type matching. We seen it with Vermin Bane, even at a lower level it wrecked her.

If Pandora's Actor was to replicate Touch-Me in his World Champion class, then outfit himself with all Touch-Me's equipment from the halls of Nazarick, he would be a world breaker in the New World. That 20% reduction in power doesn't mean much when you're that much stronger than anyone else in the world.

When Momonga has created the strongest NPC ever imagined despite not being the strongest of the Nazarick lords. Even if PA's power would still be only 80% compared to the original and even then he could be utilized in all sorts of ways.

All the guardians are very reflective of their creators’ personalities to an extreme, PA included. Ainz’s personality is more strategy and flexibility than brute force and that’s what PA is in extreme. Love it.

It's funny you mention spells that can reveal a doppelganger. Druids in D&D fifth edition get a spell that can do that as early as the second tier (level three). It's called Moon Beam. Deals radiant damage, can be halved with a constitution save and forces whatever shapeshifter it hits to revert to its original form if it fails the save. Shapeshifters also have disadvantage on the save. As most know by now I'm sure, Overlord is very heavily based on the author's experiences playing D&D and other tabletop rpgs with his friends, so it stands to reason there are spells specifically geared towards fucking up shapeshifters and other subsets of creatures.

having played a lot of MMORPG, 20% can be easily compensated with skill, buff, comsumable, equipment. A lot of the time, you can use special items set to buff a particular stats/skill over 100%. I can see doppelganger can be very useful, if your gameplay style is highly volatile. But again, we don't know the game, but since it is in the game, I believe there is a strong case that it has a role. A guess this is the reason why nabe is a mage case not a fighter class. Because for a fighter case, the gameplay is more straightforward, while a mage class, you got to know what to do at what timing. so stats doesn't matter as much, since using the correct magic at the corrct timing is more important then a straight up dmg duel that depending on stats. Another reason why Ainz build Pandora's actor to be highly intelligence.

The term Doppelgänger can mean different things, depending on the context you use it in. For example a person who looks nearly the same as you do, can be called a Doppelgänger in germany. As well as Stunt Doubles can also be called like that. So the term Doppelgänger can really be used in close to any context to describe a person/being wich looks alike you or someone else

With instant death spells, as far as I remember, in D&D the target has to make a "will save." Depending on the death spell they need to roll a certain amount on a certain die. So one spell for instance will require that the target roll 14 or higher on a d20. The target then rolls and gets a 13. The target dies unless they have a modifier that can increase the result of the throw to meet the requirement. Additionally the caster can also have spells that debuff the target before casting the death spell. So a doppleganger will maybe get their roll reduced by 20% and then their modifiers will also be reduced by 20%.

Imagine PA having Mangekyo-Sharingan if not Rinnegan and a spell similar to Erza Scarlet's Requip. With these two, he'd be able to copy any abilities to do specific things (even if said spell's effectiveness is lowered by 20%) and switch equipment accordingly, thus, making him more effective in any scenario.

What if you use self buffs and them transform into another class? That would be pretty OP

Seeing as how Ainz has that one one Mage Jobless that max's out at Lvl5, which helped to practically remove the limitation of amount of spells, I'd assume that Momonga definitely found some hidden Race class that broke that balance and allowed either Pandora's Actor to imitate either 100% or more than 100% of the supreme ones power, after all he is the Guardian of the Treasury I'd assume that he would be hella overpowered maybe close to the power of Rubedo, and he might have a world Item?

14:33, Most games use a multiplicative damage reduction system. Basically your resistances create a percent reduction in damage rather than outright blocking a number of damage, this way it's almost impossible to block all damage, also usually there are diminishing returns. For example the formula for damage reduction for physical damage in League of Legends is Damage X (100/100+armor), so 50 armor gives 100/150 or 66.66% multiplier so you take 33.33% less damage. So 100 armor gives you a 50% damage reduction but 200 armor only gives you 66.66% damage reduction and 300 gives you 75%, so it's very hard to get insane damage reduction. So you need 900 armor to get a 90% reduction, 4900 to get 98%, and 9900 to get 99%, so yeah an extra 1% damage reduction takes 5000 armor, which is totally not worth it (also impossible on all champs other than Thresh, Jax, and technically Trundle). Hear it is impossible to get 100% damage reduction theoretically as armor trends to infinity as reduction approaches 100%, but you can get a practical 100% reduction with much less armor as you don't need to reduce the incoming damage to 0, you just need to take less damage than you regenerate. If you have your base regen + items that boost regen + lifesteal or spell vamp (lifesteal for spells instead of basic attacks) than you can technically become invincible. If anyone is wondering this last case is how Kirito was impossible to kill in the bridge scene, you can see his healthbar dropping and regening, so he doesn't have 100% nullification, but the damage he's taking is less than his regen. For those that are curious, in League the maximum armor achievable realistically is 3432.618816 on Malphite with a Taric, and Braum buffing him and an Orrn providing items to all three. Thresh stacks armor infinitely, and Jax, through Gathering Storm and his ult, can do the same. Trundle, by virtue of his ult stealing 40% of the target's resistances, can also stack infinitely, however you can't actually have infinite armor, so he's always less than Jax and Thresh. Thresh's passive maxes at 749999.25 armor, with the above buffs bringing him to 910,296.7564 armor or a 99.99989016% reduction in physical damage. I don't know what the variable type for the armor value is (in the code that is), Technically Jax has the highest resistance values in the game as Gathering Storm scales infinitely meaning the resistances provided by his ult scale infinitely, until the variable that stores either his AD, AP, MR, or armor max out. A double maxes out at 2^53, so if his AD maxes there, his ult would give him 70+(0.5*(2^53)) plus his 67 base armor, plus 675 armor from items, so 4,503,599,627,371,308 armor or 99.99999999999777955% damage reduction, this is without teamates buffing him other than Orrn for items, but it's inconsequential at this point. But I mean 4.5 Quadrillion armor might be a little overkill, and doing the math, would take a game that lasted 35.7 billion years.

Your assumption of how the calculation of the damage reduction seems fine on the surface level. But that's not the only sensible way to calculate that. It's sure the most straightforward method, however there is also the possibility that the Doppelganger would do 160 damage to you. Aka a 20% Damage Reduction. And in the reverse would take 240 damage aka a 20% Damage Increase. It depends fully on how you calculate things, do you calculate base stats or actual damage. Because if it were stats, then in your case it would be 100% less damage dealt and 80% increased damage taken... While in my case it would be a 20% increase and decrease in respective case. There's a huge difference depending on when you calculate the 20% decrease. Before Damage Calculation or after Damage Calculation.

I don't know what the 80% potency translates to exactly, but I know the amount of casts from abilities/skills Pandora's Actor is copying remains the same. I remember Ainz talking about how he can summon a certain amount of lower tier undead for free every day and then he said if Pandora's Actor copies Ainz and joins in then that would double the amount they can summon. So that implies that the 80% potency does not cut the amount of uses down as well. I believe I read that before Novel 10, some time after Novel 3.
