How Strong Was Dabura BEFORE The Majin Boost? 

Literally the most wasted Dragon Ball villain

I never even noticed the parallel between Bobbitti accessing/boosting Vegeta's evil side and the Old Kai unlocking Gohan's latent potential. Both magical powerups that access one's hidden powers. One for good and one for evil. Really brilliant. For all its flaws the Buu saga still had great narrative beats and parallels.

I feel like the Demon realm/universe is such a gold mine for new villains and arcs. Especially now that they’ve brought angels and gods into the picture.

Majin Dabura imo was both "weaker" and stronger. He was controlled but his intelligence was still the same. The majin boost probably did make him stronger. But also being the guiding and right hand man for Babidi who never usually questioned him made him weaker until buu was an issue.

I'm guessing he was just as strong as Perfect Cell, but as Majin, he became as strong as Super Perfect Cell.

So compared to the stronger Z fighters, the Demon universe is full of jabronis if Dabura pre Majin boost was the strongest there. That means SSJ2 teen Gohan alone could perform a hostile takeover of the place lol

I'm guessing, if Majin Dabura was the level of Super Perfect Cell, Dabura WITHOUT the Majin boost must have been close to the power of Perfect Cell before Cell regenerated from the explosion on King Kai's planet?

Another awesome topic that I never even thought to really ask. You forget that, obviously, with Dabura being under Babidi's control his natural power isn't likely that high. He probably got a boost as well

Since Dabura is usually compared to Cell, I'd say he was about as strong as Perfect Cell at full power or the bulky Cell that was too slow for SSJ2 Gohan. Enough to put him above Shin but below Super Perfect Cell/Majin Dabura level.

I generally think that the Majin boost is small, with Spopovich and Yamu being aberrations due to them not having ki control beforehand. So I'd put non Majin Dabura around pre zenkai Perfect Cell.

Since the boost is a "potential unlock" technique, I'd say if anything I agree with you, that before the Majin Boost, Dabura was probably around the same power level as Perfect Cell and after he matched Super Perfect Cell. It makes the most sense if he wasn't already at his fullest potential at the moment.

My biggest question is who's governing the demon realm while Debura was busy being possessed. We need a story where the heroes go to thw demon realm to borrow a magical item and they find out Debura has a hot daughter and wife who are in charge in his absence. Screw it. I'll just write it myself.

Can you please do a video on who would win in a fight between recoome or nail? Recoome was bodying an over 30,000 power level vegeta and nail is stated to be at 42,000. I think that would be interesting

For once I actually AM watching in the first hour! But for real Dabura is such an interesting character, I wish they did more with him.

A shame we never got to see his full power and how much damage he could have done. If by some chance he was at full power when fighting Gohan I find it hard to believe

I love Dabura he is such a badass and I wish he stayed some more in the story. As for how powerful the Majin boost made him we may never know only to speculate. Especially since BP doesn't exist anymore and we have to guess. I think it was never stated intentionally to which form of Cell Kakarrot was referring to, so that we as fans could speculate and open up our minds. I always thought he meant Perfect Cell but not Super Perfect Cell. Because Kakarrot fought against Perfect Cell and it make sense to me that this is the Cell he is comparing Dabura with.

The fact people keep referring to cell super perfect form as a form is stupid. It’s also more ridiculous anybody thinks dabura Is weaker than cell after the explosion.

I like how this reminded me, in Dokkan Battle I have the awakening medals of Future Gohan DFE to farm out because he's getting an Extreme Z Awaken shortly :) Dang there aren't many teen/adult Gohan cards that are any good, all the good Gohans are the kid/young versions LOL

The Thought of Dabura never crossed my mind of how strong he was before the magin boost upgrade.

I wish Supreme Kai had the power Piccolo thought he had, he was an awesome character when he entered the tournament all stoic and "cool and collected", until he showed fear of pretty much EVERY Saiyan power up and transformation

For me it's really hard to tell how a lot of these characters stack overall because we see that Spopavich and Yamu were in the previous World Tournament and Yamu I believe lost in the first round to who Krillin beat in the next tournament and while Spopavich lost to Mr. Satan we actually don't know how far he got and even really how Mr. Satan stacks up in terms of power. Because Mr. Satan does show great feats of strength buts that Dragon Balls Goku very early on could replicate and while we onow from Gohan Vidal is stronger than her fathee already it still doesn't really give us much to compare to which is one of the weakest aspects of this arc. In early DBZ we get certain characters that tell us how strong they are and how our heros stack up. Like the Sibermen were as strong as Raditiz so after a year of training Piccolo and most of the others could easily best characters like that. Then the young Namekian warriors are roughly as strong as Piccolo and Gohan were on Earth so ofcourse they could a lot of Freiza's weaker henchmen but were clearly outclassed by Dadoria. We even see this even in the Andriod arc as Mech Freiza us pretty powerful but is nothing compared to Super Sayian Trunks so for Trunks to go 17 and 18 are stronger than him it really raises the stakes. In the Manjin Buu it's really hard to gauge threat level at times be we have no real frame of reference.

Man i would have loved to see the fight between Dabura and Piccolo, since Piccolo use to be a Demon King, but at the same time Piccolo absorbing Nail and Kami probably made him pure for good

Dabura is such wasted potential. Hes like raditz in the way that they both die just to show how powerful the next threat is and progress the plot. Itd be cool if when Buu was turning into kid Buu he accidently released dabura in the steam he let out or something, to make him a threat they can say he learned babadies magic so he can never be controlled again and so hes a fighter that can pose a threat like with Moros Magic kinda

the majin amp boosts ones latent potential based on the darkness in ones heart.. therefore characters like piccolo and vegeta wuld benefit more as they have been resisting the darkness int heir heart but characters like dabura were already king of the demon realm so the darkness in his heart was most likely already thriving so the majin amp did very little to dabura whcih also makes sense as to why supreme kai was afraid of him prior the majin amp

The Majin boost barely seemed to do anything for Vegeta. He was ALREADY strong enough that he was confident he could beat Gohan (who was only a little weaker than he was when he beat Cell), and he was only AS strong as SSJ2 Goku even with the boost. Vegeta and Goku were clearly stronger than Gohan was as a boy, but not all that much stronger. So based on all that I don't think it was much more than a 15-20% boost in power.

I was not impressed by Dabura`s strength. Even after fighting a sub-par Gohan for some time, Dabura had hardly done any damage to Gohan, according to Babadi`s Buu power meter (in the anime version). What with Cell`s regenerative ability, he would have cleaned Dabura`s clock. Dabura`s only chance against Cell would be his spit.

Cell Games Saga ssj2 Gohan, sorely underestimated. Buu Saga " nerfed " ssj2 Gohan, also sorely underestimated . .

Was gohan fighting at super saiyan 2 against Dabura or normal super saiyan 11:39. I've heard other sources say that. Gohan could access super saiyan 2 but could not fight in that form because of this conditioning from lack of training.

It would have been interesting if the Majin mark made Dabura _lose_ power, unlike other characters. Dabura raised his power through his dark meditation. You can't have a clear mind for meditation when you're possessed and under someone else's control (Babidi). So, while the Majin mark may unlock the evil in people's hearts and boosts their power, where it invokes a degree of subservience- it could easily go against the basis of Dabura's power and prevent him from powering up effectively.

No one seems to still understand exactly how monstrous in power an enraged ssj2 12 year old Gohan was. Neither Vegeta nor Goku after SEVEN years of training caught up to that power as ssj2 themselves. Enraged Gohan is comparable to Majin Buu and ssj3 Goku as just ssj2. Gohan did not lose power, he simply lose his ability to cut loose. He couldn't even get enraged for Buutenks 💀 If he didn't lose that ability and actually kept up with the training he would kill Majin Buu and probably even kid Buu.

People still continue to overstate how powerful Cell is. The manga itself (through Goku's dialogue) points out that Dabura is stronger than Super Perfect Cell. Mike points this out in all the videos surrounding this topic. Yet the comments are flooded with people saying they think Dabura is the same level as Super Perfect Cell. SSJ2 Gohan was so much more powerful than Cell that he absolutely dominated him. Even after Cell returned with the power boost, Gohan was confident he could still win with ease. And Gohan did win with only 50% of his power. This would imply that Mastered SSJ1 Gohan was either on the same level or higher than Perfect Cell. Or that the SSJ2 boost is higher than x2. Even with Gohan losing a lot of his Cell Games power by the time of the Buu Saga, he is still clearly way above Cell, just by the fact he can fight evenly with Dabura who is stated to be above Super Perfect Cell. Vegeta even points out that, despite Dabura being stronger than Cell, and despite Gohan losing power from lack of training.... Gohan still shouldn't have struggled as much as he did.

Actually, when you think about it, it would be perfectly explainable why the majin seal would make Dabura weaker. First off, he's a demon. Dark magic is beneath him ; he IS dark energy. Evil energy. Just like gods are divine energy. A mortal seal forcing submission and "boosting" negative traits would make absolutely no sense to a creature that's already the epitome of wicked. The only way a weakling like babidi could subdue him would be through a weakening. He barely subdued Vegeta, lost the grasp quickly at that. Dabura would be extremely hard to subdue. Only way you could justify it is by bargaining a power nerf through the mark. That's in character with Babidi additionally, he knew very well there was going to be danger in trying to control something far stronger than you are. He probably tries it on Dabura to get ready for Buu. Plus, he's unbound from the devil realm, so we can suppose his power is not exactly available in full. And my other guess is, he doesn't even want to fight for Babidi, nor has he any grudge against Gohan, he's just obeying and having fun, most likely. At the end of the day, we don't really know. That being said, if they were to explore the demon realm in the future, in order to keep up with the Z-warriors, they would need to justify a leveling up of the demons. And that explanation would do it. Demons are only as strong as their summoner can handle. Except in the demon realm. Now, what could bring one of our dear Z-warriors to visit the demon realm ?

I believe in an earlier video, Mike deduced that Dabura is about as strong as Super Perfect Cell. When it comes to his level of power pre-Majin n boost, I'd say Dabura was around Perfect Cell before his zenkai.

Even after Majin Vegeta was still nowhere close to the level of the Gohan who killed Cell and neither was Goku. It took Goku ssj3 to get to that level. I know people are going to point out that SPC damaged an arm .. the blast multiplier above normal allowed it and it was really and truly a cheap shot. Otherwise he couldn't have done it. Everyone should know by now just because you are weaker than someone in base without a chi blast doesn't mean the chi blast isn't more potent than the user's base power. Piccolo and Goku scared Raditz with their multipliers. Tien did better at holding back Semi Perfect Cell than Piccolo did facing Imperfect Cell. Nowhere does it specifically state how much of a multiplier Cells' blast was but it only bruised pretty much.

Look I gotta admit when it came to demons Mike I've seen more from other anime if I'm counting Overlord with Lord Ains and Blue Exorcist with the literal devil Satan and his sons Rin and Yukio Okumara and Then Diablo in How not to summon a demon lord and well they actually proved to be more interesting because they as Demonic characters were around longer in their series than Dabura from DragonBall in my opinions. Dabura after all was around for a short time throughout until Fat Majin Boo turned him into a cookie and ate him and I think him in the afterlife with Videl, Chichi and Bulma was filler and that filler was short too.

I know it is a Dabura video but it's important to know when you are comparing the estimate. Dabura is in fact on the level of ssj2 and before magic still around PC level, maybe a bit higher.

The thing that makes me laugh with DBZ characters that's when they underestimate other beings from other realms. Dabura may not have power levels that exceed perfect cell or Gohan for that matter, but the guy has tons of other abilities that could have kept Goku and Vegeta on the fences if underestimated!

I would say if vegeta is right with gohan not being close as he says to his former self and he still could fight if not beat dabura then goku is either off his rocker or its exaggerated by the writers. But who knows it’s dragon ball and full of holes yet it’s so good.

I think Babadies majjin potential unlock gives you more power depending on how much evil is in your heart. It explains why Dabura who is a demon king and full of evil, could've potentially got a huge power boost, but Vegeta, who barely had any evil in his heart at the time barely got a power boost. It also explains why spopavich qnd yamu got the ability to fix broken bones but vegeta didnt.
