This is a hygienist. My mom is one and a dentist is higher than a hygienist. A dentist does procedures with teeth like root canals, tooth decay, etc. Hygienists focus on trying to fix bad teeth. Im not 100 sure dont take my word. Just info that i know from my mom

@@ps6474 depends on how advanced your periodontitis is but the worse part is getting numb and afterwards your gums can feel tender and hot/cold sensitivity. Normally its split into 2 appts. But youre lookin at 4-6 injections for numbing and then they scrape the tooth/root of each pocket to arrest the subgingival calculus aka bacteria under the gums. If you have diabetes or bad dry mouth or a heavy smoker theres usually more cleaning to be done

I eventually should get it done, but literally hate going to the dentist, I get very anxious and antsy, even for a basic cleaning, but due mainly to the scraping part, so I don´t want to imagine the deep cleaning. But it should be done, so I will have to someday brave it.

@@ps6474 ask for maybe valium for ur procedures or laughing gas it helps. Also, the longer you wait the worse the alternative is which is loose teeth and that uncontrolled bacteria under your gums goes to your heart, brain and pancreas😢

I actually had that gum. Even some now. It doesn't really hurt except if you have a cracked tooth. I am now saving money so I could refix some of it.

I always have my teeth professionally cleaned and got scared at first when I saw a lot of blood. My dentist says that it's actually healthy since it promotes "regeneration". It also doesn't hurt that much.

In fact best dentist i've ever been to. A lot of Americans are known to fly to Colombia for cheap dental treatment. Everything is so cheap there. I had a big hotel room with air con and a pool on the rooftop for £7 a night in Barranquilla.

I’ve been traveling to Colombia for 3 years for my treatments and and it’s a gigantic difference. The offices and clinics are much more cleaner, nicer, professional and they treat you like a human being rather than just a number. Example: I went to Colombia after my friends and coworkers encouraged me to do so after I complained about the dental care in the US. So far, I’ve been traveling back and forth there to receive my treatments and the cost of all my trips are still cheaper than the treatments they proposed to me. Example US cost in Miami (with great insurance) : Deep clean $350-$500, wisdom teeth extraction $400 per tooth ($1600), 2 root canals they swore I needed $2000 ($4000), braces $5000, retainer cost $1500, X-rays $200. And they tried to tell me I needed dental implants if I wanted to have a perfect smile $4000 for EACH TOOTH!! Colombian Cost: Deep clean ($22), wisdom teeth extraction + 1 tooth restoration ($330). After my wisdom teeth were removed, they sent me to get full X-rays of my teeth ($15), the orthodontist saw I had one cavity but it want because of poor hygiene, but because the wisdom tooth was rubbing against my molar. The cavity didn’t go to the roots so I only needed a restoration. They discouraged me from getting a root canal. 2 months later I returned to get a cleaning and my braces put on ($350) . I am scheduled to have my braces removed and I will have to get a retainer ($200) . My orthodontist absolutely discouraged me from getting dental implants or veneers. She said my teeth are fine and healthy and it doesn’t make sense to destroy my teeth for something so cosmetic. Now if I still wanted, she oils do it but encouraged me not to. After this, I will never visit a dental office in the US. They don’t care about your well-being or to cure you. You’re just a number for profit. In Colombia, their goal is to cure you so you don’t come back.

I had this. It’s really easy and doesn’t hurt. The powder liquid is kinda acidic/sour when it gets on your tongue, but the rest is easy asf. def worth it. It was like 230€ in germany but idk about the price in america.

There’s also the smell coming from the other person. No mask could ever be enough of a barrier. If they accidentally coughed in my face, I would go into hysterics.

What is a Dental therapist? Is it another way to say hygienist?

dental treatments are generally expensive everywhere. i dont know about the US but here in Pakistan, deep cleaning in a private clinic costs around 6k Pkr, however in dental hospitals the cost is very low like in govt dental hospitals its like 100 pkr whereas in private dental hospitals its about 300 pkr. A simple filling (composite or GIC) at a private clinic is about 3.5k pkr and in a govt hospital its less than 200 pkr. (1 usd = 157 pkr)
