I was working for a computer game magazine in the UK when Robocop was released, we were invited down to Pinewood Studios to watch the very violent uncut version of the movie. I have no idea how our boss got us that access, but Robocop is still one of my favourites.

I was dating a girl way back who had only seen Kurtwood Smith in That 70’s Show. She watched RoboCop and was horrified at his character portrayal.

A buddy of mine when he was a kid in the late 80s, his parents car broke down in the country. They walked to the nearest house in the country. The people were watching RoboCop, he still brings it up now and again how terrified he was in a stranger's house watching the Ultra violence of this great film. He was 9, 10 or 11.

I made my wife watch it for the first time last night. She liked it.

"Robocop" is terrific satire on our consumer-based culture (both in the '80s and the present, in my humble opinion), which really turned the dial up on action/violence and the gruesome experience of Alex Murphy's murder and "reanimation" as the future of law enforcement. It remains a poignant story and, along with some great characters, never fails to entertain. Another awesome entry (37!!!) in this series. As always, can't wait for the next one! Cheers!!!

I remember seeing the RoboCop cardboard cutout at the theater before watching a Land Before Time. The gore freaked me out as a kid, but I like the characters and the look of the title character.

As cool as the movie is, the edited for television version is just as hilarious. The hilarious dubbed "Why Me?!," "I reall like this guy!," and "Some even called him... alot worse" were funny. Even the Toxic guy walks across the alley safely & Clarence hitting boxes instead

I absolutely loved your video on Robocop, and it's one of my favorite movies, PERIOD!!! I believe Robocop is a genre picture like Tombstone. It's not just a Western. It is action, comical, violent, and many other things. Saying this, I think Robocop is all of the above a Sci fi, dark comedy, violent, drama, revenge movie with yes some horror added in that makes it a beautiful accident I wouldn't have any other way. I grew up loving this movie the more I got older. I respect it so much. It's lighting in a bottle that can never be reproduced. With its insane story, over the top villains, great direction, great cast, mind -blowing effects, and brilliant script, Robocop is a perfect example of a movie you just don't see anymore. Terminator 1&2 & RoboCop were Childhood favorites!!! It’s sad Times have changed!

I actually love Robocop 2 as well. The scene where they're showing the attempts at a new Robocop, and they all end up killing themselves, is hilarious but also pretty intense when you really think about it, and it's a cool way to show that how Murphy's integrity and spirit is what made him able to be such a successful Robocop instead of going insane like all the others.

It's the perfect blend of Sci-Fi, action, dark humor, and horror. Just like Predator.

Greatest villain switch of all time

As kids we had a budgie called Bobby who never flew. We (kindly) tried to get him to fly and said “can you fly Bobby?” 😂 he never did but he was ace. He used to run around the coffee table playing with Micro Machines (those tiny toy cars if anyone remembers) and grabbing them in his beak and tossing them off the table. He’d then look at you as if to say “pick it back up then” 😂

Bob Morton was truly a villain in this movie, purposely putting his prime candidates in most dangerous precincts and waiting for some poor guy to “volunteer”…was disappointed when on DVD commentary heard director didn’t like the line of Sgt. Reed referring to Morton as an @$$hole, it perfectly describes Bob Morton, as cold hearted as Clarence Boddicker, even realized it in 1988 when I first saw it on VHS.

Robocop Sounds Like One Of A Rollercoaster Ride Of A Film There's A Lot Of Twists And Turns.

Was just talking my “robofriend” about being in my upcoming love of robocop vid: then BAM! This video popped up in my feed. Woo-Hoo! Can never get enough Robocop. GO ROBO!

I mean, it definitely has heavy body horror elements, but to me personally it feels more like a superhero movie overall. I actually keep it in my superhero section of my collection, along with Dredd 2012. In either case, I love this movie.

Robocop was the second movie were the cinema was stormed by police and the movie showing was cut short in my country. Every copy of the movie got confiscated. The first was Evil Dead. It was banned, even the censored versions got banned or indexed. Later there were heavily censored versions released were the movie was cut down under an hour. The first time my country saw the full uncut version was 2013 when the movie got rehabilitated.

I saw Robocop in the theater at a very young age. Probably a little too young. My grandmother brought me, neither of us checked the rating of the movie. It was quite the experience when the film rolled.

I owned Robo Cop as a! I would watch it over and over again....

Body horror is better in Robocop 2 in my opinion. The bit where they extract Cain's brain. Cain is conscious and alive and can see his dead body, disembodied and hollow head. He is unable to look away, unable to close his eyes, and unable to scream. He is forced to see what has become of him and can do nothing.

RoboCop a perfect movie anytime anywhere anyplace a perfect story and plot the right heroes and villains and the right amount of action and let's not forget the music awesome film got on VHS for Christmas when I was ten years old

Just a quibble, but Mary Shelley's monster was intelligent enough to teach himself how to read and speak. And he speaks very eloquently for maybe 2 chapters or so? And cleverly murders a child and frames a beloved servant just to hurt Victor. He also murders V.F.'s fiancee after the scientist backs out of his deal to create a mate for the monster. If you haven't read the novel, yet, you really should.

RoboCop is an absolute MASTERPIECE. Not a single, solitary second of that film feels superfluous. It's INCREDIBLY tight film making with EVERYTHING having a legit purpose to the story and character's. It's just as fresh and relevant today as it was when it 1st came out, and it will continue to be the next 37 years. As for RoboCop 2, there are some decent parts in it but overall it's a disappointing sequel. It feels really dated at times (which the 1st part doesn't), they basically do away with Murphy's development from part 1, for whatever reason, only to do the same thing again but absolutely nowhere as well executed. The dialogue, satire, and commentary is nowhere as solid or smart, the villain of Cain overall was very weak, the CEO of OCP felt like a totally different character, having a 12 year old running the biggest drug gang/business in Detroit was really idiotic, Lewis feels very underutilized, etc. It's just really..."meh". RoboCop 3 is just atrociously deplorable.

I don't remember how old i was when i first saw it but i saw the unedited one first. When he got his hand shot off that really messed me up, even to this day that bothers me more than any other part of the movie. the effects were amazing in this film at the time and still hold up today. except for the end. dick Jones arms when he falls out of the building is still laughable, the should really fix that.

Dude's death in the beginning still bothers me to this day. I think that's why I haven't watched it since the first time when my mom rented the tape upon its release. I don't think she realized what she brought home.

I actually made it past the ushers to get into Robocop. It was amazing. Later in life I became an usher. My main target was groups of teens that made it awfully obvious they were trying to sneak in an R rated movie. That was more to keep other adults from getting mad at them not watching the movie and disrupting it.

Robocop is the best thing since gold teeth. Horror, it definately has, from the dystopian, bleak future to the corporation's maniacal ambitions. I'd say it could be classified as a subgenre called "sci-fi horror".

I was around 7 when I first watched it consciously. Before that I have glanced at it when I visit my cousin who was 8 years older and had a good collection of horror and scifi films. Here where I live people was always relaxed about content children were exposed to, from young lads watching soft porn to uncut edits of horror movies (on VHS). Funny thing, thought, is that language was very censored on any midia but specifically TV. That means you'd see a cruel execution while the perpetrators would be seeing something close to "golly molly, dude!". This would be even funnier when watching subtitled movies on VHS with some English knowledge - people would be cursing heavily and the subtitles would be the most tamed thing possible.

It's really not difficult to see Robocop as a horror film, and for most people it comes down to framing. The film is action packed, there's a gun, a hero and a bombastic score. Most people will view Robocop as an action movie in the vein of India Jones or Die Hard because of those elements. Some people I talk to consider Jurassic Park an adventure film and I have heard it once compared to Back to the Future. Why? It's obviously a horror film to me.

I saw this when I was 8 on a double feature. The first movie was Batteries Not Included. I had nightmares of ED-209, but that Monday I got into it with the PE teacher during a game of flag football that got out of hand. “Hey guys, take it easy or there’s going to be trouble!” It came out without hesitation. “Ohhhhhh… FUCK YOU!” That was a long week of in school suspension. I love this movie.
