I always put in a frame of brood with a new queen as I get 99% acceptance. The babies just mellow any hive out and seem to make everyone happy.

This reminds me of an autoimmune disease, only on a bigger scale. It's like the hive is an organism made of cells (bees) and the immune system has gone wrong somehow, maybe from a virus, and has been triggered to recognise that one particular type of cell (queen bee) is now a foreign cell that needs to be killed off. It's just fascinating!

Seeing that queen bee being mobbed by all those angry bees makes me grateful to be an insignificant human who stays away from people.

As someone who has hated bees since a very young age, seeing this man stick his fingers in the swarm of bees like it’s a bowl of cherry tomatoes, he is the bravest man in the world.

Maybe she was just giving off bad vibes. She didn’t pass the vibe check.

Something to note about how sensitive bees are to pheromones, notice how after he touched the queen and got her scent on his fingertip they swarmed his fingers as well. They are not stinging, because that would be kinda stupid for them when they have this technique that vibrates the queen so intensely it raises her body temperature and kills her. He probably did get stung a small bit, but the ones on his fingertip are so bound by the chemical signals im confident he didn’t get stung on the tip.

My beekeeping neighbor behind me recently had a good part of his hive swarm and leave the box. He said the remaining bees would hopefully make a new queen. The swarm was incredible to watch.

When my hive lost their queen they went from being gentle to very defensive. Where normally I would get bumped once or twice during an inspection I had twenty bees bumping me. New queen comes tomorrow. Hope she is accepted.

This guy is the Goat, he is fearless as hell.

We have a large farm in Kentucky and we're one of the larger estate growers of tobacco. When the bottom fell out we had to find other things to plant and decided on more tomato plants. 44,000 to be exact, along with 9 acres of cabbage and 12 acres of pumpkins. For the pumpkins we had to set up bee hives next to the fields the pollinate the flowers. We had to learn about them very quickly because the pumpkins was a last min decision so we didn't really have alot of time to learn off the bat. I had no idea it would be as hands on as it was in the beginning. Idk about anywhere else but bees are disappearing for some reason. I dont think most people know the trouble we'd be in if we lost bees. MANY of the fruits and veggies we love will vanish basically. Pollution and the introduction of invasive species of insects are to blame. This ENTIRE planet is in trouble.
