How The Bikeriders DESTROYS Hollywood

Sometimes it’s nice to step away from all the BS that modern Hollywood seems to spew out these days like the Acolyte and go watch an actual good movie. Who knew that that movie would be The Bikeriders, a movie about a bunch of mostly straight white males in a motorcycle gang. But exactly what made the Bikeriders a good movie? And will it perform well at the weekend box office? Join me dear viewer, as I dive back into the cesspool that is modern Hollywood.

I'm a biker of over 40 years. I've been "affiliated" and not. I love this culture and the people at a cellular level while simultaneously hating it. I can tell you to MY experience. This is the closest movie to portray the life of a real rider. I absolutely love it and the way the actors portrayed the characters. Especially Michael Shannon.

I’m primary care giver to my 94 year old mom. Family helps, but I don’t like to ask too much. Two months ago I said “Okay. I’m going to a movie. I have to see Austin Butler! Have to, on the big screen.” I never heard of Tom Hardy or Jodie Comer. Through RU-vid videos, interviews and clips I’m getting to know them. I look forward to my 2+ hours with Benny, Johnny, Kathy and the Vandals.

Considering film is slowly and painfully dying, this was refreshing. As a film major and lifelong movie geek who grew up on movies like this and never really amounted to anything because of the truth behind the industry, I really enjoyed it. I miss these kinds of movies so much. Back when I was in film school, I never thought the art medium I loved and the kinds of movies I loved would go the way of the Dodo. It wasn't as great as it could have been by any means, but considering the absolute dog crap that we get, I was happy. If only for a brief moment. And that's the sad ending to the story of film.

I'm still thinking about this movie more than a week after seeing it. Hoping to go see it again with one of my brothers while he's in town in a couple of weeks. I have been very surprised at hearing that several of my RU-vid buddies weren't all that impressed by this one. As a modern day 1%ER I live this every day. I enjoyed the movie and the history being displayed. I’m glad this movie was made. The movie makes an almost hard line between one generation and the next though. And it’s simply not that clear cut. The dynamics displayed there between the internal struggle over identity still exists today. It never stopped. I found myself very much identifying with many of the characters on different levels, could directly relate to some of the experiences, and could easily see the members fitting in today.

Saw it and was looking forward to it. Going in I didn't know it was going to be about the book as much as it was about the story - the "documentary" style storyline wasn't what I was expecting but it was good. I would have liked to have seen more about the bikes, but that's probably because I am a rider and enjoy that kind of thing. It would have worked better as a limited series on Amazon or Netflix, to spend more time developing the characters, the culture, and relationships. I appreciated them not going full Sons of Anarchy with it and making the club a bunch of outlaws, more just a bunch of misfits that found a community and place to belong.

It was good to see it on a big screen to give it that larger than life quality. The story itself is very gritty and shocking, so it might be tiring to watch it on a tv, but at a theater, you are kind of captivated the whole time by the sights and sounds and so distracted from the nasty things going on. It is a nice film visually. The scenes are very interesting to look at and you don't get bored at all. It isn't gratuitous violence unless you call what bikers do gratuitous. It more or less gives you some insight into how and why they are like that. It is a real story and a real analysis of history rather than just an action movie. It is emotional but not emotionally overwhelming. I would say it is a fairly enjoyable film to watch if you can detach from the rough scenes. You get a good feel for the different characters and the different roles they played in the community.

Benny is not a reluctant hero... he is not a hero, full stop. He starts fights that don't need to be started, runs from cops just because, won't get a job, goes w/ Johnny to "take care of" Roach not knowing what that actually meant... there is an active difference between protagonist and hero and I think you made that mistake. And no... this movie does not destroy Hollywood, if anything it will help Hollywood by sating a desire for down to earth and character oriented films that used to get made. That is all.

I liked the film, but honestly it seemed like a film for people who like documentaries way more than people who like bike culture. There were lots of scenes I would love to see. I have to start by saying The Bikeriders is a good movie and since I grew up in the biker culture I can say it is fairly accurate. However the movie glosses over their illegal activity, it tones down some of the violence and there is a severe lack of boobs. I have been to tons of bike rally weekends and there are tons of unique things bikers do at these rallies, there were races happening throughout the day and the parties at night were wild. Overall I think it was a good movie, I just wish they would have showed them getting into dealing drugs, the extortion and other crimes but showed their regrets for doing it....similar to what we got to see in movies like Goodfellas

I believe Benny rode a bike, he had an accident and injured his foot, and stopped riding. The rest was imagined by his wife (based on his involvement with a motorcycle club). Following a mass brawl, the only injury suffered was to Benny's hand. The brawl was pure Hollywood - no head injury has any consequence whatsoever, and you can punch an unsuspecting man in the head with full force without causing major injury or death. While the brawlers were still breathing heavily, they decide to be friends and have a beer. This is another species of nonsense - people don't do things like that. She probably had a couple of beers down at the clubhouse on occasion and gossiped. But the dreadful turn of events in this movie is just wild imagination.

There was nothing in this movie that was unbelievable, you make it sound like it's Son's of Anarchy. Also, after Austin Butler hit the window, he beat that guy so bad that they had to pull him off and the guy's face was destroyed. I'm pretty sure he had a major injury. Also, guys fight and then drink right after all the time. That still happens to this day. Go to a bar and chances are you'll see it happen.

I've seen drunk guys run through windows on purpose, resulting in huge pieces of glass stuck in them, and I saw one guy lose a bunch of teeth after getting hit in the face with a skateboard. @rupertbollywood1190
@rupertbollywood1190 7 дней назад
I quite liked this movie. However, I don't know if any other reviewers have the same take on it as me. The plot strikes me as exaggerated and implausible in places - a collection of bikesploitation motifs, and the reason for this is uncovered at the end when Benny flaps his eyes at her like a puppy. It's through the eyes of just one woman - not the members and their families. It's a very feminine take on motorcycle clubs. To get some kind of handle on this, you should look up motorcycle fiction. It's ALL written for women and the book covers ALL look like this move. "Old wives' tales" is an idiom: use it here because that's what it is, literally. The wife is constantly pushed and probed on what she knows about so-and-so or this or that event. The questioning exceeds her knowledge and she lies to make up the gaps. The dead giveaway is that she's obsessed with stopping him riding, when what she would be expected to do is get him out of the violent situations this club involves him in. She's content and he gives up motorcycles. Totally implausible - he would have left the club perhaps, but wouldn't have stopped riding. When I saw the end scene, it hit me like a ton of bricks because the DIRECTOR didn't believe her stories, himself. It was very skilfully intimated that she just made up the whole story, and that this didn't matter because the movie was a reflection of her mind and her fantasies.
