This video looks at the Dallas mavericks and why they have a great shot to win the nba championship this year with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving playing well with the rest of their supporting cast
If the Mavs get past the WCF, Luka can get two weeks rest on his knee and ankle injury. That's enough time for his ankle to fully recover and get his knee to atleast 90%. There is no good rest for him until then and he's gonna have to grit it out.
@@robertbaker3174 They said on the broadcast of the last game that he had a 5-step basketball career plan from 5th grade. He'd hit the first four before this season and the fifth was playing for the Mavericks. He's living his childhood dream.
@@TheDeven1000 it's true, seems like couple of last games his knee hurts only when hes not hitting 3s. I still think he isnt 100% tho or maybe its the nerves getting to him, since his shooting% is way down but defensive stats are way up. I feel like that would be hard to do with a bad knee
If Luka was at 85% i would have no doubt. But Luka has been good at giving the team what they need. That is something about this version of the team. Everyone finds whats needed in the game. Its been a special run so far.
the thunder are actually letting luka go 1 on 1 against lu Dort most of the time occasionally doubling him but the okc is mainly not letting kyrie play 1 on 1 at all they are sending 2 or 3 defenders every time he drives and they are playing him very high so he can't attempt a lot of threes thats why his shot attempts are less and his assists are up they are even helping off of luka and digging in the gaps so kyrie cant drive with seeing three players watch the games and youll see kyrie has been the best player for them in these playoffs
because they know kyrie will go for 30+ against single coverage just like luka. his efficiency on the series is still elite and hes shooting 9-14 against jaylen williams who is his primary defender across 3 games.
It's kind of funny when Luka isn't hurt every team send 2-3 players and their mothers to defend him, but now when Kai is healthy and playing well they have to send 2 players on him instead, not many teams that have that.
Yeah, I think it might be a little too optimistic. I really like Dallas, but don’t pretend like the can’t go out there and shit the bed and lose out. All the teams left in the west have the ability to turn in the jets and run you out of the gym for a few games against anyone. It’s not like Dallas has a long battle tested history of overcoming adversity. They could win out, too. That’s why they play. It always seems like whatever team won the last game gets a little too much play these days. This guy had almost 100% written off the nuggets after 2 games to a team that is having their first ever success. Honestly, the o ly team that would shock me right now if they won everything would be NY. They just seem like they have about 2-1/4 healthy players and are overachieving with Brunson. No other team/ teams in the finals would surprise me
@@ashamsthomas2490 And they responded. Never underestimate the heart of a champion! I think this time the Nuggets has the advantage. If the wolves can't adjust, they'll probably lose.
the Nuggets are the better match-up for the Mavs. Towns and Edwards are match-up nightmares for the Mavs. Mavs can't match the size or speed of the Twolves their only chance is to shoot lights out. if they run KAT at the 5, him bombing 3s is the Mavs worst nightmare. Whichever big man has to step outside the paint, it opens things up for Edwards. if they run KAT at the 4, the Twolves are at least going to beat them on the glass if not crush them. On top of that the Mavs don't have a guard that has a chance at guarding Edwards 1 on 1. Whereas vs. the nuggets. Jokic will get his, but, he prefers to work inside the 3 pt. line so the mavs front court won't be asked to guard the perimeter as much as they would vs. the Twolves. The mavs D likes to funnel everything to Gafford and Lively. Other than Porter, most of Denver likes to work in the mid range and in, which is great for the Mavs cause we're a big team not a fast team. OKC beat us when they made it a track meet, but the Mavs have won the slugfests because OKC ain't big and strong enough. Lifelong Mavs fan trying to tell you, we want Denver.
It is easier to defend Edwards if you have a shot-blocking center because you can just funnel him to your center. Guarding Jokic is way harder. It's like guarding Luka who can make good reads and passes or he will just dominate in ISO, with good role players surrounding Jokic, making it tougher to defend.
@@aceloco817 i don't think so, Denver doest not have good defenders against Luka and Kyrie + they have some size with Gafford and Lively to bother them. It's a fair matchup definitely 6-7 game series if it happens.
Dallas MOST DEFINITELY can't win the chip, Denver are the ONLY team that can win the chip, they are going back to back, and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING will stop that
OKC series is already over. Finals will also be easier for anyone from the west. The problem is Denver in WCF. Could go either way, will probably (sadly) be decided by injury.
