Jrue Holiday doesn’t get the credit he deserves partly because, especially on offense, it’s doesn’t look pleasing aesthetically. He looks like an upgraded version of Patrick Beverly. But if you watch a lot you realize his high IQ and ability to play on both ends makes him invaluable, and massively under appreciated
Facts he would always shoot up to like a 90 overall a couple of years into MyCareer. He was even more of a cheat code on that AD and Boogie pelicans team.
Facts. When I saw the Bucks traded him to Portland, I knew they were gonna flip him for picks because they're rebuilding. Then I saw the Celtics were the ones who they flipped him to and damn near jumped out of my seat. Went from losing Smart in the Porzingis trade and having question marks about that 1 spot just to basically upgrade to Holiday. Brad Stevens earned his executive of the year award this season.
😂😂😂😂 exactly what I said. Who let those 3 defender together and KP at the rim. U gonna have problems scoring and on offense KP ur 4/5 option crazy. Lol Idk who challenge them next year in the east either
Jrue a hell of a player but it’s a difference in being 3rd 4th some times 5th option compared to being a second option and a team needing 20 plus from you every night
Also Jrue has been consistently dominated by his matchup defensively when we was with the bucks. Jrue gets all this credit as the premier defender in the entire nba and all these ex players be ranting about how Rudy Hobert gets dpoy awards and Jrue gets no credit, and how “real hoopers know”, and then they cook Rudy for giving up a stepback 3 to Luka…yet none of these dudes got a peep to say about Jimmy Butler AVERAGING 50ppg on Jrue’s head. Bucks players even asked Jrue to switch off jimmy and he refused to do so, and basically lost that series himself. Atrocious offensive player in the playoffs with the bucks for 3 straight playoff runs and gets absolutely cooked whenever he has to guard an elite guy. He’s an incredible player and piece to have if he’s your 5th option…but then he better get the credit and criticism commiserate with that role. If anything Jrue has become the most overrated player in the nba because of other nba players gobbling his nuts the last 4 years about how underrated he is. The reality he’s not underrated at all. He’s been paid 30+ mil per year. He gets lauded as the best defender in the league and never takes any media criticism when he gets cooked which happens regularly. He takes zero criticism for how awful he was for Milwaukee in the playoffs. He gets people asking if the bucks would be better off with Jrue than Dame. Like this is a laughable discussion, Jrue might be the most overrated player in the nba actually.
@@mgschwartzI gotta say I do remember when middleton was out nd he was the #2 option he did struggle with the bucks running the offense nd playing D u aint wrong
Jrue is never going to be the second best scorer on a championship team, but he's always in the running for second best player. The guy makes so many high IQ, high effort plays on both ends of the ball. He doesn't get the hype he deserves because it's not flashy and doesn't show up in the stats. But if you watch and understand the game, you'll see what a crazy impact he has on winning. Jrue is actually the reason I don't see the Bucks as a better team. Giving him up for Dame got more highlight reels and box office points, but I don't see Dame as being able to have the impact across a playoff game the way that Jrue does. Sure, Dame will give you points, but if he isn't scoring he's arguably a liability because of his bad defense. Jrue can score 10 points and still be the second best player because he can rebound, make high IQ passes and defend at an elite level. Plus the points he does score are almost always highly efficient, so he doesn't take away from your other scorers.
He got hurt in like game 4 vs Heat and then the end of game 2 in the finals. Every minute he played he caused havoc for the opposing team. Even when he’s not scoring, he creates so much space for his teammates. Dude is almost at the half line pulling up for 3s! 😂
Brad Steven's the finals mvp , outsmarted the whole league with his moves. From start to finish. It's ridiculous the roster they assembled with players the league pretty much gifted them
Jrue Holiday was one of the most skilled and complete all-around high school players I ever seen. His off hand and defense were/ are ELITE and he had the same unique pace to go with his top decision making
I've enjoyed the narrative about the Celtics and their window, bc Tatum is eleven months older than Luka. He's four months older than SGA. JB is gonna be a wizened 28 years old this October. They are SO young, so ridiculously ahead of 'schedule' by any reasonable consideration of NBA history. Tatum put on tons of muscle this off-season, and it jacked his shooting form up - it also allowed him to dominate the boards, plays down low, and drive to the basket more than he ever has - I suspect he's gonna get his shot back, and stay bigger. There's a lot of future for these guys.
I like to think that Brown hit the beginning of his prime this season, and Tatum is about to in the next season or two since Tatum is younger than Brown.
@@iampadrino no they didn't lose to Miami because of Bud u right. But that's not why Bud got fired? Bud supposed to been fired because he was a horrible fit for Giannis and Portis. We just seen Doc unlock Bobby this year which Bud never was gonna do.
Keyon is exactly right we're living in a time where people love negativity and love to criticize others. The sad thing about it: is that mostly the negativity and criticism comes from analysts who've never played the game and have never been in the shoes of an athlete. Tatum is in the position of the old saying: damn if you do and damn if you don't. But it seems as though he's going to have the last laugh: Because they're on the verge of winning a championship and he's on the verge of getting a 300 million contract.
I wouldn’t say so with giannis offensive struggles at time in the half court he needs another primary creator and Middleton isn’t cutting it anymore the dame trade was the right move imo the bucks could’ve never predicted giannis getting hurt this year
@@HOWDY789man shut up ! Look at the bag twins about to get swept 🧹 No bucks fan is worried , we would happily take our chances with Giannis dame and Khris
Jrue has always been underrated by dumb basketball minds. He's an excellent 2way player basketball and has always been very solid. He & White makes the Celtics who they are. Milwaukee made the dumbest trade ever.
Same man. I was stunned to even find out we had a chance to get him 😂 and when it happened on top of tingus, you couldn’t tell me we weren’t gonna win the chip. (Healthy)
Embid still wrong Philly gave yall this championship they traded up to number 1 6 years ago and could’ve taken Tatum they took fultz 🤣🤣🤣 or else we’re not here anyway
Jrue has been one of my faves for a long time. HOFamer don’t care what no one says don’t care what the numbers say, don’t care about what accolades he doesn’t have.
It’s not even being wrong about doubling him, he made up an imaginary scenario & told Mccants he couldn’t do the same. That shit was so frustrating to watch
The Bucks are just old & probably have the worst bench. They the oldest team in the NBA & they trade or let go of all our young players. Donte, Grayson, R.J Hampton, Nwora, KPJ, Norman Powell, Brogdon and more.
It was OVERALL a bad trade IMO. Dame for Jrue straight up it’s obviously Dame but for a team Jrue fits better most places. Bucks needed a scorer so the went and got Dame bravo but they traded away their best defender and didn’t try to replace him so now they in a spot where they searching for a elite defenders
I always said that Jrue Holiday is the most underrated player in the NBA. He’s the kind of player every team needs. He’s a not a superstar, he’s not even a star. He is a utility player. A dam Swiss Army knife. He does things that don’t show up in the box score.
Jrue Holiday is a natural game changer. Best on ball defender in the league. Has been a star level player his whole career even since those bad Sixers days. He’s a willing playmaker and unselfish . That’s a championship caliber player
Won a freaking championship when jrue got there, now he go to Boston and win there, can y’all not see wtf going on?! Jrue is that dude, he’ll guard the other teams best player, he doesn’t turn the ball over, can get his shot off when ever he wants , floor general, clutch, he’s an extremely valuable asset. While dame ain’t never smelled a finals let alone a conference finals
@@Iamrich95_right this it’s why it’s just good to big up a player without having to trash another, it always show two things , Hate or ignorance… this sounds like both 😂
Bucks gave away one of the best PG pieces without being a superstar. Unless he wanted out, no way we trade him and I don’t give a fuck about Lillard being there now. He is a Swiss Army knife with a sharp ass blade being his defense.
It made the celtics a lot better immediately cause the fit was perfect... add Porzingis to the equasion and they became favorites to win it all... everyone knew they were the team to beat.
Bucks should’ve kept Jrue somehow & got Dame, then they’d be a chip contender. Obv they still are on paper but I personally don’t think they’re winning wit Dame & Giannis
Jrue solidified the Celtics chip, the min Bucks got him they won (I been trading Jrue to the Bucks in 2k) Celtics traded Smart & I felt they traded the glue guy for injury prone Zingis but then they got Jrue which is a upgraded Smart. If they never even did the Zingis trade & got Jrue they was winning.
It's simple. The Bucks didn't value Holiday like that and thought of him as a bargaining piece to make a move to keep Giannis there. They were only thinking about keeping Giannis. It was a move made out of fear and management isn't suppose to make moves like that. They fired Griffin when he had them #2 in the East with a record of 30-13. The organization is all over the place.
I guarantee Dame and Giannis on the Bucks isn't winning a ring. Their playstyles just don't mesh well. In my opinion they're not a good fit. And Dame didn't want to be there in the first place.
People are prisoners of the moment, jrue got torched by jimmy last year got 50 plus on his head while jimmy yelled “you can’t guard me “ and couldn’t score consistently he’s an amazing role player but when he is relied on to be your second best player you are in trouble ,, Giannis was hurt this year so you can’t reply judge the bucs this season
Jrue struggled offensively with the bucks in the playoffs because he had to be the 2nd or 3rd leading scorer but now he can be like the 4th scorer on the Celtics and really play his role defensively
Y'all going to learn one of these days that Dame don't care about winning. He just doesn't have that bad management in Portland excuse to lean on anymore.
Milwaukee shouldn't let Miami get nothing. The hell u mean This a salty Heat fan who knows they trash and if teams ain't injured they a walking door mat for teams to piss on.
@@mikej810he’s basketballs ultimate glass cannon, if he hits a deep bomb early the spacing is fucked from there on, if he doesn’t like you said, he’s a tiny ball dominant guard that dies on defense.
The Bucks guaranteed that they would not sniff the Ring in the next 4yrs by trading for Dame. They will not be a better team than the C’s while Jrue is there…
I remember jrue when he was on the PELICANS with AD, Cousins and Rondo. That tram wouldve been crazy good if the front office keot them together for at least 2 yrs, max. I believe they woildve got to the dance at least one yrm winning it is another story
Bruh, jrue is on a stacked team, so he has less responsibility….on the bucks, he had more responsibility because he was the 2nd to 3rd option on any giving night…..with the Celtics, all he gota do is worry about just hooping, he’s like the 4th or 5th option on any given night…..the bucks would have still lost even if the had jrue, bucks r an old ass team, they never got younger, they help on to some, players too long like old ass Lopez, Jae Crowder…..jrue can have 9 points with the Celtics and the Celtics will still be fine, if he had 9 points with the bucks, that will affect the bucks way more in a negative way….
That's a little harsh lol. When he's on the floor, he's very impactful. The first 2 games of this series, his rim protection alone was EXTREMELY impactful. Completely took Kyrie out of his game. The problem is he can't stay healthy, which might be a problem down the road if he can't get it together. It's too bad, because he's an extremely talented player and seems like a great teammate. I hope for his sake that can he turn it around and stay on the floor come future playoff runs. But honestly, not gonna hold my breath on that
Two different situations. The Bucks wanted Jrue to bring more to the table but he couldnt, the Celtics needed exactly what Jrue brought to the table. I like Jrue and he will have some big scoring nights but ultimately the Bucks needed a better 2nd or 3rd scoring option. It showed that he couldn't when Giannis is out.
The criticism of Tatum is similar to the criticism y’all gave him. Tatum likes to settle for 3s versus using his dynamic skill set to take over games. 6’10” and doesn’t exploit it.
Rhode Island native and life long Boston Celtics fan. I watched those guys fight to win the 2008 championship. Since then the league has changed it's identity. My understanding is that Kristaps agreed to a 1-year deal. If KP was injury free i'm guessing he stays another year and they push for back to back titles. Kind of worries me how well Boston has done without KP on the floor. The future of the Celtics, along with the career and legacy of Jaylen and Jayson will continue to be in the hands of Brad Stevens. I know he isn't satisfied with one title, and knows the time is NOW.
Exactly. And Jrue landed in stacked ass Boston. Shouldn’t no real Bucks fan be upset with the trade…it is what it is. They should be more upset with the coach situation.
Larry took over as soon as he got in the league. He took a 29-win team and improved them to a 61-win team his rookie year just by the team adding him. He then went on to lead the Cs to a championship in his second year in the NBA. Fun Fact In Larry's entire career the Celtics NEVER had a losing month when Larry was in the lineup. Larry was him from day one. That is the difference between great players and legends
Your premise is not factual correct. I'll bet you're not even 45 yrs old. Which is to say you didn't have eyes on the Celtics Before Bird or even his rookie season. You've read and heard the tale of the Great Turn around but you didn't witness it. Yes Bird was a Catalyst to success that Season. However it was not the Same Roster. The previous yr saw an old and injury riddled Roster Bottom out. They kept a few key Vets and young players and got back to Celtic Ball They got rid mercenary vets that didn't pan out... never playing as a team. Bird's Rookie yr was also their first yr under HOF Coach Fitch. Year before saw them playing under Player/Coach Dave Cowens in a shyt show So no he did not turn scrubs into a Championship Team all by his lonesome..... They had from the previous team Three HOF players Cowens, Archibald and Chaney Plus they added former ROY M.L. Carr from Det. who was 2nd team All Def. to go along with Cedric "Cornbread" Maxwell who went from buried on the Bench to Starter and 19/10 for the team. They would have been a playoff team w/o Bird but not the Team with best regards season record. This is why you can't just look at stats and make assumptions on NBA greatness....You need to have actually seen players and teams play.
Jimmy AVERAGED 50PPG WITH JRUE GUARDING HIM ARE Y'ALL FORGETTING THIS TATUM AVERAGED 32 IN '22 WITH JRUE GUARDING HIM THEN JRUE SAID HE WAS GONNA RETIRE
I would have traded Middleton and kept Jrue. The Bucks problem with getting Dame is they have no Perimeter defense. Bucks should have went after Smart at the deadline.
7:48 there’s a RU-vid channel that does… he simulates the careers of NBA Greats on 2k … example he would put Curry in the NBA During The 70s Or Switch Lebron And Jordan’s Career. Example Lebron Drafted The Year And To The Team Jordan Was But As & With The Skills Of Lebron… It’s A Hypothetical Simulation Of 2k24 But It’s VERY Interesting
