I will never understand these franchises doing these mini-blow ups that add more talent, big name hype and completely take away their culture. This for me was most prevalent to me when the Nets traded for Harden getting rid of Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince and LeVert which in my own opinion was a much better team to contend with than when they had Harden.
Their title window was shut after they hired Doc Rivers. I'll never understand why teams looking to win a title keep on hiring this dude, the last time he won a chip was in 2008 and besides that, he's constantly choked.
Their title window was shut when they fired Bud. Not having Khris Middleton, their second best player, was not a bad reason to lose to the Heat, who were better than their record, and Jimmy Butler has historically been better in the playoffs than the regular season. Now they lost their defense, and in a panic, hired the king of choking 3-1 series leads. It'll likely be Celtics vs. Nuggets/Thunder in the Finals (hard to trust the Wolves when KAT never steps up in the playoffs, similar to Mo Williams with LeBron, or the Clippers as they are never healthy, despite this season being their best since the pandemic years as it was believed their window closed after 2021), with the Celtics probably winning as this really feels like Tatum's year (similar to LeBron in 2012, Curry in 2015, Shaq in 2000, the Celtics in 2008, Kobe in 2009, etc.). At least Giannis, Khris, and Brook (as well as Jrue, who will likely get his second this year) already got their ring before the management panicked, which couldn't be said for LeBron in Cleveland where they thought old Shaq, Mo Williams, and Antawn Jamison were viable second options for a championship team before getting the hint in his second Cavs run.
Shut? Don’t be dramatic Sure a chances got worse but I’m confident having the best player in the world and a top 15 player and dpoy candidate makes you a contender 😂
Hop off his dick bro has a slightly worse year and now he’s “aged” best snz of his career last year on a new team but now He’s “aged” when the guy they traded away is the same age😭
mmm... let's see the video on how the bucks have gradually become one of the best teams on both ends RIGHT under everyone's nose including yours and the person who made this video
I still feel Dame and Giannis can work but they need to reconstruct the roster and have a significantly better coach. I think it’s crazy that they didn’t hire Nick Nurse.
Couple of things to note Giannis is the reason why they hired Adrian in the first place. The front office should've signed Nick Nurse instead of giving their star what he wanted. Offensively, dame should be the #1 offense and i say that because if he's flowing, the offense would be much easier for everyone else. And eventually he'd get more comfortable on a roster with such diverse talent that he's never had before. Drop coverage doesn't work on this team because they don't have anyone to can fight over screens. Not even talking about on an elite level like Jrue. Adrian Griffin trying out different schemes in defense made sense to me because he was trying to see what ALL could work with the talent he had. They still used drop coverage which is something people dont talk about. Last thing: as much as i LOVE middleton, they need to find a 3 team teade with him and get Dejuante Murray on the roster. He'd fit in perfectly and him being the 3rd option Offensively would be so optimal.
@@djdjvega101 in the playoffs if dame is still shooting bad other teams will be happy to see the ball in his hands rather than the Greek freak. This isn’t a recipe for success.
-- I agree with this mostly. My first issue with the Bucks? Middleton. He hasn't been the same for the last 3 years avg 15ppg. The Bucks were legit when he was scoring 20ppg. HOWEVER, he played well in '23 post season avg 23ppg -- esp with Giannis missing TWO games. 2) With Middleton languishing, that's the first domino to fall. So Coach Bud and the Dame trade shouldn't have happened if Middleton was closer to 18-20ppg (instead of 15ppg). So if Giannis was the one who wanted to shake things up with Dame and Griffin over Bud, then yeah, that's on Giannis.
@@user-sl1if9do4y so you missed the part where is he isn’t shooting well right now? Are we just supposed to assume he gets better? Why? He isn’t shooting like he usually does. He is being out shot by the Greek freak.
Not really though. He had been getting outcoached for several years and his lack of adjustments was always one of the main talking points. Many people thought he'd be fired much earlier.
@@xeonbladev18Even after they won the championship, I thought he should've been fired. He was the main reason why the y nearly lost to an injured Nets squad.
The Bucks were another victim of the star having too much power within the organization. I wish more organizations put their faith in their coaches. The Heat, for example, has had continued success even after Lebron left. The Clippers have also stayed competitive despite constant injuries to their best players. The GM's job is also easier because he can plan further into the future and hunt for players that fit the coach's system.
Yup exactly. Giannis can give interviews and talk about how he knows nothing about what the front office is going to do and how hard it is to play for all these coaches. Like dude, just stop. We all know you’re basically behind all of it.
You can't convincingly lose to an 8th seed as the 1st seed, especially when it was pretty clearly the coaches fault. We were up in a majority of those Heat wins, and lost the last game due to an inbounds lob to the teams star SF and not using a timeout in OT. Can't keep your job with that.
Maybe it was just my circle, and the channels I follow, but everybody said Dame to Milwaukee was a mistake for the defense drop and play style. A ball dominant player pairing up with another ball dominant player that can't shoot forcing the better ball handler and distributor to play more off ball is crazy.
He was far more valuable to a team like the Bucks as opposed to "Dametime." Should be renamed "Lametime." I always thought he was far too arrogant before he was traded. KD isn't as cocky as Lametime.
No one in these comments watches the bucks and it shows. Jrue, Bud and Grayson were terrible in the playoffs in the moments they needed to be competent at the very least. Bud was so bad with his refusal to adjust people wondered if he was drunk during games. The FO erred in that they did not get a Steve Kerr like coach who would keep what works, and make minor changes to improve the defense and offense so it was consistent in the playoffs. Keeping lopez was a mistake too
Incredible no mention of any blame on Giannis, if he doesn't flirt with leaving Milwaukee after his contract expires during the off-season the front office doesn't feel compelled to trade Jrue for Dame plus because of him they hired Griffin
This is beyond basketball. Man is going through a a divorce and separation from his kids in a new city, with insanely high expectations. Dame will even out once his mind is right.
@@pushslice you do realise the bucks beat the heat in the playoffs in 2021 and are we really gonna act like the heat own specifically the bucks when they have beaten the celtics just as much
Right why are we surprised? His agent told us as much if he didn't get to Miami. He was telling organizations outside of Miami that trading for Lillard is trading for an unhappy player.”
Okay but we just gonna forget how Giannis was threatening to leave if changes weren’t made this previous offseason? Everybody would’ve made the Dame trade without a doubt.
Yeah Dame trade made sense. Not really their fault he's playing like shit. The constant coaching changes are more concerning. That indicated a front office that doesn't know what it's doing and drama in the clubhouse, which may very well be contributing to Dame's lousy play. Can't be easy to go from a familiar team to a new one that's full of tons of drama and upheval.
@@dontbedummy8101 nick nurse declined us and why are people acting like doc rivers is a horrible coach he has had to deal with james harden and joel embiid playoff shenanigans, a clippers team that spent more time complaining about the bubble than actually playing basketball, and another clippers team who had to deal with the CP0 curse. this is the most talented team doc has had since the boston teams
Never understood why people compared Lillard and Curry… u would’ve thought that Curry deaded that for sure after the 2019 playoff series… but in the bubble people were STILL trying to compare them. It’s never been close. Lillard is a future hall of famer. But Curry is honestly top 10 all time… huge difference
It really depends all on Damian Lillard. With Doc Rivers yes they are 3 - 7 but the defense has improved noticeably, last ten games they are the tenth-ranked defense. With Dame playing well they have shown to be a top 3 level offense. With Dame's dropoffs usually when player's regress it is because of athletic issues, but Dame still has his explosiveness, the main thing is mental. The bucks haven't found out how to use him properly and I refuse to believe that one of the greatest shooters of all time forgot how to shoot. My biggest thing against the bucks is depth, Bobby Portis does not fit on the team and Pat Connuaghton isn't an NBA level player yet keeps getting 20+ minute games because Doc wants to bring back his confidence. If they play AJ Green and Andre Jackson Jr. more this team is still a contender. Also, there is an editing mistake at 3:21 and I believe the coaches pay doesn't add on to the players pay (so them paying three coaches doesn't hurt their flexibility). The team regardless had flexibility issues cause Jrue had a big contract.
what do you mean bobby doesn't fit? he should be our staring center. the amount of times brook lopez switches on to guards and gets blown by is insane. everything else is facts though
@@DK.productions-xy5srBobby doesn't fit because he is a bad defender on a team that needs defense more defense, if you look on basketball reference's play-by-play data you can see that he actually doesn't play the center that much. 88 percent of the time he plays the four and 10 percent of the time he plays center. That is because if he plays the 5 the team would get cooked. Brook rarely ever switches, the last notable times was against the Pacers and that was a last resort because Haliburton was frying the Bucks. He still plays drop 95 percent of the time.
I really would've liked to see coach Bud with this new Bucks team. I understand he had his shortcomings and mistakes, but to be completely honest they never had a true point guard to dictate the offense at the end of close games (Which to me it was the Bucks problem). So having Dame would have given a fair chance to coach Bud to get another championship, it would've been more reasonable to me if he was fire after failing with this team. But welp, win now type of moves sucks. I honestly just hope Giannis gets another shot at the tittle with a younger roster or more around his age
@@4dbagel945 With half the team injured you think that proves your point, this team is specifically built for Giannis, no Giannis it doesn't work well at all.
I’ll tell you why. Dude moves to a new city after being in Portland forever. His wife divorced him because the trade. He’s depressed. I wouldn’t be able to perform if that happened to me
He's been the whole offence in Portland for years, now he's trying to defer and is unsure when he just needs to take over the game. You can see it... And a lot of that is down to bad coaching
As a bucks fan I think I can provide some clarity on the topic involving this situation. 1. Damian Lillard- For years now the bucks have needed a dynamic shot creator and being able to get Dame seemed like a no brainer. In hindsight I believe it was still a great trade to make becaude that was what the bucks needed. And yes the bucks lost defense, however that is the nature of trading what you ahev for what you lack. For that reason thats when the job of management comes in to look for 2-way players that can replace the defense missed by Holiday's absence. And even if this is one of Dame's worse years he is still the second leading scorer on the bucks. So he is a cause for concern, but he is not the biggest problem at the moment. 2. Athleticism- Alright can someone name an athletic 2-way player on the bucks like Giannis? Oh wait you can’t because there is none. You could say the young guys like Andre Jackson and Marjon Beauchamp but they're unrefined. And the problem with that is they're barely given any minutes to play and develop. This team is old and slow with Giannis. And without him would be a borderline retirement home. I encourage anyone to look up any Bucks game over the course of the past 5 years and look at how they have matched up with younger teams. They get destroyed because they're slow. There has been no one added to the team that can keep up with Giannis. He is the type of player that needs a fast pace offense. Not old and slow like Middleton. Teams with youth, energy, and athleticism destroy the Bucks every time. That is why they lost against the Memphis Grizzlies and will lose to other young, bad(in terms of record) teams. Stick Giannis on a young, athletic, 2-way team and watch how dominant that team becomes. It's that simple. You find players that fit and match the play style with Giannis. You don't get an assortment of old, slow, and mediocre players. This is the Bucks biggest problem hands down in terms of on the court play. And it's not even close. With athletic 2-way players you make up for the lack of defense Dame has and you have players that match Giannis. 3. Management- It’s clear to me the General manager needs to be fired for how utterly stupid they were this trade deadline. They only traded for Patrick Beverley, a small defensive guard. One who can't guard the Jimmy Butlers or the Jayson Tatums of the world. Yes, let's face Miami in the playoffs again and let them dog us like they did last time. Having Jrue Holiday on Jimmy Butler. Patrick Beverley is small and you already have him out there or any other guard the teams are going to exploit the mismatch. The Bucks needed to make a blockbuster trade this deadline because the team needs a shake up desperately. Should have traded for a taller 2-way player. Dejounte Murray, Miles Bridges, Jerami Grant. Players like those. Let me tell you there was hope still held out for the buy-out market until these fools went out and got Gallinari instead of getting a 2-way backup center like they needed. You need a dynamic offense. Lopez can already score and is a slow rim protector. So the opposite of that would be an athletic center to run with Giannis. People always like to say Giannis will get mad if you trade someone like Bobby or Middleton. Let me tell you. He will get over once he realizes a good 2-way player is coming to his team. So we as fans just need to overlook that attachment mess. 4. Attachment- Now this is an extension off of management, but this is something every fan of the Bucks needs to hear. The organization and the people are too attached to players. They're more focused about holding onto players because of how long they have been here, what they do for the city, and their great personalities. Everything not related to basketball. And the biggest culprit on the Bucks for a player who fits everything about attachment is Pat Connaughton. Let me make it clear someone like him should have been gone. For how much money he’s making for the miniscule things he does on the court. That's a no brainer to me. And they're players who do much more than him. He could easily be added in a trade for a salary match. A lot of the fans swear by him, but he’s not that good. And even though there have been more talks about trading him this year he should have already been gone by now. Just taking a spot on the team. And for the others who we can trade who the Bucks are attached to are Middleton and Portis. Middleton is old and slow that's self-explanatory. Paid too much money and just needs to go before it's too late to trade him. Portis is a good scorer, but he struggles with bigger teams. And he is kind of a liability on defense. And with deep playoff runs you're going to be facing bigger teams, so I would trade him for a better 2-way forward. There's a need for some apathy in the culture of the Bucks because this attachment to players is only going to kill their team. They need to trade these players. If you're a true Bucks fan and see all of this then let's be real for a second. Everyone on this team besides Giannis should be on the chopping block for a trade And that includes Damian Lillard. And if we go out bad in the playoffs this year and Dame plays bad (most likely if we do go bad in the playoffs like last year), then I would trade Dame for a younger scoring guard. Players for example such as Trae Young and Shai gilgeous-alexander (we probably won't be able to get players on this level, but you understand the point of finding players within that shot creator mold just younger). Conclusion- To sum it up Dame is a problem, but not the biggest one. Management has failed in their duties to surround Gianni's with adequate players. The organization and the fans are too attached to players despite their skills on the court lacking. We need more apathy among the players of the team. And finally our biggest problem is we lack athleticism. Giannis is athletic and needs more players like that around him. Not this combination of old and slow the team has. As a Bucks fan I wish to not see Giannis’s window get wasted by incompetence. This lack of urgency to surround your star with all the players they need and being meticulous about it is akin to what happened with Aaron Rodgers. I just want someone to realize how dominant the team would be if Giannis had more athletic 2-way players around him.
Horst is a great GM, casual ass Buck fan. We literally have no assets to legitimately get a solid piece, acting like a 3&D guy is on the market or something?!
@@upon1326 So you're saying assets Portis and Middleton aren't enough assets to at least get something? I know assets with draft picks are limited, but we could easily break Middleton's contract down for a couple of smaller contracts. It doesn't even have to be a big piece. And as for Jon Horst. He does deserve his props for getting someone like Dame, but that's where it stops. The incompetency comes in when you don't go get players who are taller, athletic, and defensive. You got Patrick Beverley, but that's not going to help with guarding small forwards like Tatum and Butler. And even if the Bucks couldn't do anymore at the trade deadline they still had the buy out market to get something. They went ahead and got Gallinari. A slow, old player and not in any having any defense we needed for the team. I know you're not going to sit here and tell me they were so limited to the point they could have just gotten a 2-way back up center. That would be delusional. Bucks do one thing and think it's enough, yet teams are adding pieces to their team as they see fit. Just like how New York got OG, how Boston got Holiday, and how Miami got Rozier. If we can't get nothing then something is going to give. Because the shit that's out there on the floor ain't enough to get past the teams of the East. Especially Boston. And if this mess continues the way it is now, it won't be Horst leaving. Giannis will want to leave as he will eventually realize he can't win with this squad. And that's only if we fail to make a significant change to the roster. Horst is the type of gm to follow what the coach likes, but that's detrimental when the coach wants players out of relationships then actual skill. And Andrian Griffin was never given a chance either. For what we did this trade deadline there was no point in firing him because the biggest change we needed wasn't coaching, but the players.
Except that would actually work out, lol you people seem to miss how GOD awful dressbrick was for the lakers, this motherf*cker was literally in the nba missing layups 😂 and worse defensively than dame and would talk smack to randoms in the crowd every 5 seconds.
Giannis choosing Adrian griffin instead of nurse is his fault. And the roster isn’t built well around dame defensively. Dame also dealing with a divorce
Lillard never played second option or had to assist , so difficult getting used to new settings. Bucks won championship with lot of luck too, toe on line and suns injuries. Hard to repeat the success with 3 max contract, no great role players and no luck at your side.
i mean people discredit curry all the time when the warriors have came out and said that curry sacrafised his numbers so KD could do KD things, and was doing a lot better than what dame is doing rn even tho giannis is the perfect fit for players like dame and steph... he should get more hate but since hes being excused his entire career people arent going to until another 2 years.
Blaming Griffin for moving away from drop coverage is just unfair. The Bucks were able to run a lot of drop coverage because they had Jrue, one of the best on-ball defenders in the NBA (many NBA players consider him the best). They traded Jrue for Lillard, who is one of the worst on-ball defenders in the NBA. If your main on-ball guy can't fight over screens and defend one-on-one, then you can't run drop coverage in the NBA...especially in a league where most guards are solid three point shooters. The switches that Griffin had were pretty bad, but they're sort of similar to what we saw from Boston when they managed to hide poor defenders like IT and Kemba. The difference is that Boston doesn't run a lot of defenders that are as slow-footed as Lopez and the Bucks don't have wings that are quite as quick and athletic as guys like Brown, Smart, White and Tatum (excepting Giannis of course). I'm not saying that Griffin was a good coach, but he did what most first year coaches would do and tried to copy a successful defensive scheme that was designed and succeeded in hiding a weak defender. The problem is that the Bucks' front office didn't consider the ripple effects from losing Holiday on defense (ie, they couldn't drop Lopez nearly as much) and Lillard has underperformed expectations. The Bucks were operating on the assumption that Lillard + Better Team = Better Dame. What they got was Lillard + Better Team = Same or Lesser Dame. That's a big loss for them given what they gave up and lost to accommodate Dame. What makes it worse is that Jrue, one of the best all-around guards in the NBA, ended up on an already stacked Eastern Conference rival. If the Bucks lose in the playoffs (or worse, lose to the Celtics in the playoffs), I would expect to see some major shakeups in the Milwaukee Front Office.
I would go as far as to say that their screw-ups this season could end with this team rebuilding and completely blown up in a few short seasons (yes that includes Giannis)
Everyone is overreacting. They’re still the 3rd seed, and they need time to gel in Doc’s system. They got used to Griffin’s system and had an amazing offense. They fired AG because of the defense. Their defense has been top 10 since Doc. They need time to gel in Doc’s system. They will be amazing tonight.
They got Dame to replace Jrue in order for him to help with PLAYOFFS the area where Jrues efficiency falls of a cliff. Dame gravity is still there which helps Giannis have the most efficient szn of his career and is about to be the first player to ever average 30 PPG on 60 FG% in league history.
@@airfrance4365Dame doesn't guard them, it's actually Malik Beasley who has been getting cooked. The real issue is Jrue Holiday got replaced with Malik Beasley.
@@farhansarkar2394 yup! Still don’t like the team not trading for a perimeter defender using the 2024 Blazers 2nd and Pat Connaughtons contract but I understand they wanted a lot of flexibility this summer. It is what it is 🤷🏾♂️
They fired Budenholzer and Griffin within a year or so. Despite winning many games. What a dumb front office they got. They do panic moves left and right. Watch them fire Doc too. lol
Im a big Buck fan from St Louis, but never played basketball myself. After their latest loss blowing another lead at home I needed to try to understand but needed to have it explained clearly and simply. You did that and I thank you so much. I do believe trading Holiday and Allen was a mistake, not just technically but also spiritually and destroyed the close comradery the team once had.
The reason why people haven't hit the panic over Dame yet is because his main issue this season is his shooting. I will need to see it for a whole season before It concerns me.
I agree that people should give him at least a season before sticking a fork in him. That said, he's in his mid-30's. To have a massive drop in shooting efficiency at that age and the never get it back is the norm. Steph is the anomaly.
Lol this seems to be a common opinion among people who never watch Bucks game “they shoulda kept Bud, Jrue, and Grayson”. No. They are all tremendous playoff droppers. We weren’t getting another chip with that core due to their obvious shortcomings
They'll trade Brook for a wing this summer, Giannis and Dame will figure out how to run PnR together, and they'll be a contender next year. Honestly the biggest thing about the trade was losing Grayson Allen. You need quality rotation players to contend. Look at Phoenix. Suddenly they have 7 guys who can play in a playoff series after having two most of last postseason. Hopefully for Milwaukee one of the young guys learns to shoot over the summer and can be a rotation player next year. My money is on Beauchamp
@@Renegade-kf8fp It's not an excuse I just understand how basketball works. Brook and Dame aren't compatible on defense. The only way to have a functional defense around Dame is to surround him with long switchable wings
Despite Dame having a bad year, the Bucks were great when Griffin was coaching them. Doc Rivers is the real reason the Bucks aren't a good team anymore.
Bucks panicked the minute they heard Giannis say he was willing to leave to contend and started making crazy moves. Now all those crazy moves may end up causing Giannis to want out anyways lol. Good lesson that more franchises need to be like Miami and focus on team culture, first and foremost, and not desperately trying to please their superstar. They might have some off-years when the superstar leaves (like Miami post-Lebron/Wade) but in the long run they'll thrive.
@@dnairish Was more refering to constantly firing winning coaches and hiring Doc Rivers, but calling Jrue a "terrible" PG shows you have no idea what you're talking about. Man just made an All-Star game and is doing a good job on the C's even if he isn't putting up crazy stats.
This is who dame is. He consistently underperforms in high-pressure situations. Him being on the bucks automatically put pressure on them to at least win the east, and you can see that he just isn't responding well to it the closer we get to the post-season. We'll see if anything changes. I highly doubt it
Giannis was hurt in that first round against the Heat their Coach already got them in NBA champion before I mean it was a bad loss but they should have never got rid of him.... it was the dumbest mistake of firing their coach and it was downhill after that
Not a bucks fan but it takes time to learn how to play with eachother. Especially when your third star is pure cheeks. Giannis could also learn how to shoot. Also no blame on giannis for causing this is wild but typical. 🤣🤣😭 That being said they sold themselves getting Doc Rivers lmao.
When someone can put Damian Lillard over T-Mac on NBA top 75 list, you will know how NBA corrupted is. Prime T-Mac was much much better than Dame and Harden.
40% Khris middleton injury + 10% Grayson allen and 35% trading away Jrue Holiday, 15% for whoever is the coach. Doc rivers was losing in boston until he got a competent team and won it all or was in contention. Rest is just luck in playoffs.
Getting rid of jrue instead of Middleton was dumb . Jrue is one of the best defensive guards in the league and bucks don’t need Middletons scoring they already got giannis and acquiring Dame …..
It blows me away that people keep thinking these mega high powered offenses can win championships. Like it never works. It’s more true in basketball than any other sport, defense wins championships. Period. They always trade away role players that are lockdown defenders for big named stars that never play defense and then in the big games they can’t stop anyone.
IMO the biggest problem for the Bucs is that Jrue Holiday ended up on the Celtics. So not only did they get worse with the Dame trade not working out, they allowed Boston to get better when Boston should have been the team in trouble this season after blowing up their core.
1) Fired Mike 2) Traded for Dame 3) Let Celtics get Jrue that has elevated the competition 4) Fired Grffin 5) Hired Doc 6) Let Gannis make front office decisions
If the bucks fans claim they woulda won v miami in rd1 but giannis was hurt why fire bud ? 🤣 Also it wasn't just jrue for dame, they lost grayson allen too.. which is a huge part people miss for their defence
The Bucks had Nick Nurse they could hire and decided to listen to Giannis and passed on him. This is the stupid shit you get when you the front-office decide to not do your job and let your players do your job.
I just wanted to see the reaction of that one dude in the Bucks' front office who knew Doc Ass Cheeks Rivers was a horrible idea . His face must have been priceless
Franchises panic and let their superstars make very crucial decisions. You're the franchise. Players come and go. Good preparation and hiring the right people in impactful positions will always guarantee that you'll challenge. Stop messing your organisation out of desperation.

Yeah, Jrue had one bad playoffs and yet still was useful cause at least he is a two way player. Enjoy this year's playoffs when Dame will be playing just as bad if not worse as Jrue last year while also being complete negative for the team cause scoring and shooting is all he does compared to Jrue where he at least provides you as a playmaker, defender and leader when having a bad scoring game. Nice move, best of luck, you will need more than that to not be a first or second round exit. Cavs, Knicks, Pacers are looking much better than Bucks and so will 76ers with Embiid back and playoffs Heat with their superior coaching.
