yup... Goku IS technically an idiot. Reminder that Goku out of the many stupid things he's done (but not limited to) has flashed his dragonballs based on poor cognitive understanding, petted his past self like a pet dog (despite future trunks warning people of the butterfly effect), has been responsible for the death of Kaio Sama (King Kai), decided to go fight Freeza because he was strong blissfully unaware that Freeza was a tyrant, probably believed a convincing lie from Vegeta about his deceased father (Ocean Dub exclusive) and let many seemingly irredeemable adversaries at the time live based solely on his lust for fighting.
@@JoesAnimationHub wow, most of the things you said are so wrong and easily can be debunked, that i conviced that you said this as a joke, so i gonna let pass.
Also, I guess this counts as part of censoring Vegeta’s injuries, but when Yajirobe slashes his back he says he “almost” cut through his armor. Which makes it make no sense why Vegeta fell over in pain if he didn’t rlly get hurt
It would still hurt even if it didn't penetrate the armor. All that force has to go somewhere. This is a factor in the real world as well--even if you're wearing a bulletproof vest, getting shot can easily break a rib or two.
@@Pwilliams4000 you've probably only watched the in-house Funimation dub. This is going over the original Funimation dub done in partnership with Saban and Ocean Group (hence why people call it the Ocean Dub). Funimation started dubbing in-house after Goku arrived on Namek. They also later re-dubbed everything the ocean group did for them with their in-house cast and without as much censorship or story changes.
The first 3 movies of the ocean/pioneer dub were uncut using the original Japanese score and more accurate to the Japanese script with Ocean's VA cast with Peter Kelamis replacing Ian James Corlett as Goku.
Bro I remember when I first started watching one piece with every arc I finished I would go to RU-vid and watch your 4kids one piece video. It feels so nostalgic I was really sad that you stopped uploading and I still had hope. Right now I’m on episode 730 lol. Anyways glad to see you back bro 😎
@@NitroPixel101 nah I just finished dressrosa, I was taking an break cas I’m reading other stuff right now but I’m back in the grinding of goat piece 🐐💕
I really like some of the voice cast they used for Ocean, but when people say it's their 100% preferred method of watching, I don't get it. they literally censored the FIGHTING in DBZ??
Because OCEAN didn't censor anything-- Ocean just has highly skilled VA and overall better sound themes and effects. SABAN censored the script the way he/they wanted to. Besides, w/o those edits you wouldn't have the "Over 9000" meme nor the HFIL song by TFS nor the classy "next dimension" throwback. You're just too young to get it. The story and dub were compelling even with the changes. Most of us knew "the next dimension" meant death and HFIL was really Hell but it was cool regardless 😎
@DrCash7 it sounds like you're fueled by nostalgia and a script you've made yourself that you're ready to shoot off when someone disagrees. I don't care which third party made the ocean dub shit. edited out the scenes, etc. What matters is the final product of the dub released, looking past the final product is just looking for justification for a bad dub. I'm old enough to remember this garage dub on television, son
They also removed another scene of Kami telling popo to go to namek to wish them back with the dragon balls but popo says bitch I ain’t goin no where that scene was completely cut out
wow, it's been months and you finally made a video of it... i'm happy to see the comparsion of the 4kid dub of one piece and maybe the funimation entertainment's censored dub of one piece, after 4kid cancelled it...
Good luck finding footage of Funimation's TV version of OP season 3. Best I could find was a few small clips on RU-vid. I cannot for the life of me find any full episodes online, which is a shame, cuz I wanted to compare them to the DVD version.
For a production dub that went out of its way to censor all imprints of its Japanese origin, just blatantly breaking the illusion that way is bizarre AF.
I always hear Vegeta as SpongeBob .. I guess for people with ocean nostalgia it's the same when they watch the Funimation Dub (in Germany Vegeta's 1st VA was the same who later became our SpongeBob, until episode 35 and in all releases because it's the version with less cuts, the 2nd VA had rerecorded the episodes but they were more censored in the 2nd run of DBZ)
I never interpreted the scene where Goku refers to the damage/casualties caused by his Oozaru transformation as him coming to the conclusion that Vegeta was the one who caused it. Instead, I always thought Goku was seeing Vegeta's Oozaru form as representing his own transformation--the awakening of his bestial, primal Saiyan instincts. Vegeta's explanation of how Saiyans transform in the full moon made Goku realize that he himself was indeed the monster that caused his own grandfather's death. Yet since Goku had no memories of the transformation and no control over it he sees his Oozaru form as a separate entity from himself, which is why he refers to it as "he" and projects it onto Vegeta. Goku does not literally believe that Vegeta came to Earth and caused all the damage, but by fighting him in this form to defend Earth he can in a way atone for the death and suffering caused by his own transformation.
Vegeta: Your Father was an adequate fighter, but a brilliant scientist... Me: Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha... (deep breath) Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha... Well, in that case I guess the blue apple fell miles away from the tree! Also, blaming Vegeta for crushing Grampa Gohan, T_T dumb
8:48- Yes, we're familiar with the dialogue. LOL 11:18- Yeah, after watching the Bardock special, I'm starting to think that Goku's father wasn't quite the scientist from what Vegeta said and more of a warrior since Saiyans are more of a barbaric race based on how King Kai described the Saiyan race. 12:16- Same here, I was thinking "What made Goku think that Vegeta killed his grandpa despite of never being on earth back in the original Series?" when I first saw this clip.
Can't believe toei would take this version and add so much violence, nudity and character interactions to what was originally supposed to be a family friendly adventure show. Smh
I remember even as a kid that Goku figuring out that Vegeta was the Ape monster that killed his grandfather not making any sense. How could he have been there if they were about the same age?
You missed a dialogue change in episode 35. In the original version, Goku tells krillin to spare Vegeta because he wants to rematch him in the future, while in the ocean dub, it's because he follows the "no killing" rule many super heros have
Now that I think about it, this dub probably would’ve referred to Bardock as “Burdock”, since Ocean tended to have little nuggets of dialogue that were actually very faithful to the original Japanese. I think Goku straight up dropped Kame Sen’nin at one point (Master Roshi’s actual title from the manga and subbed anime), and they refer to the Tenkaichi Budoukai as “Supreme Martial Arts Tournament”, which is actually a slightly more accurate translation of Tenkaichi Budoukai than “World Martial Arts Tournament”. You don’t see care for translating the little details like this in any of the FUNimation dubs. Z Kai is great, but it takes me out of it when they still say shit like “Guardian of Earth” and call the characters the same names as they do in the original dubs.
I get Dragonball didn't really AIR fully as it should have before they got to the sequel series, but cutting out Launch and all the flashbacks to it was very stupid. And given the little bit of that it DID air, DBZ clearly wasn't the first show for them to try to act like there was nothing set before it. -_- And why are you only doing up to episode 51 in the next video when they stopped at episode 53?
God the changes to the dialogue ruins so much of my favorite lines in the franchise. This arc has a lot of best dialogue and scenes in the franchise so this really irks me. However the original Funimation/Ocean dub of the movies were excellent. They didn't change the dialogue or the score. If only we got that for the main series.
