I'm not as optimistic for offense until I see Story, O'Neil and Grissom healthy. Cora has big challenge to manage the youthful group with bench players to keep productive throughout season including September. Rafaela might be the key guy. Thank you Corbin.

I definitely agree Story is going to be the big key to the offense especially at Fenway. I don't think offense is going to be a problem for this team. I can't wait for the regular season to start ⚾

I agree completely. Was looking over the lineup recently and was pleasantly surprised by how stacked we are. Depends alot on Story and Tyler O'Neil bouncing back. Also depending on Casas continuing to improve and Grissom and abreu breaking out. If even a fraction of those scenarios play out i think we will have a great squad

Great video, Corbin I believe this could be a major strength for the '24 Sox. If you take the average OPS+ of your lineup in pairs, (excluding Wong/McGuire) ... With moderate optimism Duran 110 + Devers 125 = 235 Story 100 + Casas 120 = 230 Rafaela/O'Neill 100 + Masa 120 = 220 Grissom 105 + Abreu 105 = 210 The Lineup one through eight has an average112 OPS+ Few teams have a productive offensive catcher. Teel could be that in another year. Bring on baseball 😊

I didn't ever think we'd be the top offense but offense wasn't really a concern it's preventing runs specifically from starters

I have absolutely no doubts on this redsox team being a great hitting club. They have lots of offensive weapons. I do think we will get plenty of production including speed from Duran and Rafaela. I think the bullpen should be pretty good. Starting pitching remains a concern and a work in progress in my view. Lots of potential especially with this offense. Some of the youngsters like Casas have now had experience in the majors last year. Thats bound to help. Yoshida now has had a full year in the league . Last year he had really never seen these pitchers before. Thats gonna help. I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the season to begin. I am enjoying the spring training games. I am also going to put myself on the limb here and say if they play Abreu steady in right field his offense numbers should be really good. I actually expect him to out do Verdugo's numbers this year. Thanks Corbin.

I agree with you on the offense. I think they are also better defensively. if they stay healthy. Starting Pitching may need the offense to click on all cylinders but if healthy aught to surprise many as well.Bullpen should be good. Going to be interesting to see how everything unfolds over the season. Thanks Corbin great info. Have a great day! Go Red Sox!!

I was having great expectations going to spring training, untill i watched how Giolito and Bello got hammered in their last start. I know is early, i know is only spring training but is not looking to great, i know you are talking about hitting but to be honest had never been my concern with this team. The mayor problem is Pitching

The last few years the offense has never been a problem but keeping runs off the board has been. Starting pitching and bullpen will be tested this year. Need solid pitching to be competitive. Unfortunately I think this team will be fun to watch but looks like another bridge year with no postseason berth and maybe a last place finish. Too many factors especially from ownership to the coaching. A lot of unknowns.
@RickBarnett
@RickBarnett 6 месяцев назад
I like your optimisms with this, however I would like to wait until the last week of Spring Training or after the first few weeks of the regular season. You really can't tell much with the first 3 or 4 weeks of spring training as pitchers are always experimenting and will probably not be pitching this way once the games count. You have a whole lot of ifs when talking about how good they can be. it will be fun for a while to see if these things can all come together, and I would really like to see you revisit this same storyline after the third week of the season to see where we are at. We might have a better idea of how things are shaping up, who is healthy and not, and if players can keep going with whatever they learn at this time. Good job of giving us info on what we should be looking for and rooting for from the offensive side of things.

I think there's a real chance this team has a top offense in the league by the lineup alone. Though the parts of the team are so intertwined that if the pitching keeps them in games more, the offense might be just better at hitting even without any other changes. Professionals are still human, and not feeling like they were in it or not being sure if a 3 run lead would hold over any given half-inning must be somewhat demoralizing. I think they played poorly in Sept because they knew they were out of it. Not a knock against any of them, it's hard as a human to do something that feels fruitless.

Though it is somewhat unfair to put all the expectations on one player, Trevor Story will be by far the most significant barometer of how the Red Sox ultimately perform in 2024 ... However, Story is getting very well compensated to lead this team at approximately $23 million per season and needs to start earning his high salary ... I hope Story does not have the ill-advised mind set that he still needs to remain the big power home run bat as he likely was expected to be when playing for the Colorado Rockies ... I'd much prefer seeing him being more of a "doubles in the gap" contact hitter who can consistently line drive the ball to all fields ... This more sensible offensive approach also should help him reduce on his high strike out tendencies ... Smart situational style hitting by every Red Sox batter will best serve by putting more balls in play by more consistently "setting the table," moving along the baserunners, and driving in more runs especially with two outs ... Hopefully the Red Sox will be in a playoff contention position come late July to warrant Craig Breslow possibly adding another right handed bat for the stretch run before the trade deadline ... Breslow also definitely needs to start thinking about balancing out our predominantly left handed hitting MLB lineup especially when considering that our "Big Three" up the middle future prospects in Marcelo Meyer, Roman Anthony and Kyle Teel all bat from the left side of the plate as well ...
@redseatradio
@redseatradio 6 месяцев назад
Yeah that’s definitely something he’s going to have to consider. If nothing changes in 2026 your only right handed bats could be Rafaela and Story with Grissom in there too

Relying on story as a number 3 😬. Ideally he’s a streaky 6 hitter or a throwaway leadoff guy because of his power and athleticism. Their OPS might be solid. Their K:BB rate might be pretty good and because of their ballpark they’ll be at the top of the list in doubles again. My concern is hrs. I think best case you’re looking to get to 185 hrs with this current roster. That was 10/15 teams in the AL. Scrapping wins together vs relying on some thump makes the season grind a bit. Devers story Yoshida Casas should absolutely improve their HR totals by position grouping but idk if Abreu/rafaela/grissom/wong/oneill/duran/refsnyder/reyes/valdez really provides all that much power. That’s my big concern. Now if Rafaela shows he’s that spark plug he was in the minors and story gets back to league average ops+ now you’ve got something but for now it feels like we’re short handed
@redseatradio
@redseatradio 6 месяцев назад

@@redseatradiomake or break in a lot of ways. Mayer is coming. Fans absolutely think he’s a bum and if he’s not good the first month he’ll start hearing boos. I kind of wish Grissom was healthy and raking to make Cora make a tough decision. I think they stack lefties against righties but when they face lefties I wonder. I feel like it’s probably story by default. I hope he has a good year. He’s had a hard time since he signed and by all accounts is a great person and a clubhouse leader

Trevor hits the IL by the end of April. Guy is ok offensively and there is no real chance that this guy can carry an offense. Guys like Manny Ramirez and Davis Ortiz can do it. They aren’t here. O’Neil is another injured guy and Connor Wong is a Scrub. Now that our #1 pitcher is down this roster is worse than last year. Keep pushing those dreams. Again they're not going to have as good production as last season. 2 of there better hitters in Verdugo and Turner are gone and have NOT been replaced. Getting Story to hit like he did 3 years ago is asking a lot. He was supposed to be a great hitter and fielder at his best he was just ok. Grissom? I don't care how he hits if he's good at fielding 2nd. When he gets to the majors in late April. And Raffy had a down year last year for Raffy and let's hope Cassas slow start last season isn't a yearly thing

How about a video that shows the Red Sox could have signed Mookie Betts to the exact same contract he signed with the Dodgers, kept Price and still would have been able to fall below the luxury tax tax threshold the following year? Because that’s all true and the single biggest story nobody has told is that John Henry lied about the whole Mookie thing. He just wanted to cut Red Sox payroll at any cost because he needed to raise payroll for the soccer team. All true
