Youth pitching mechanics take time to perfect, and the stride is a key part of a pitcher's delivery. Striding too far on either side of a straight line causes different problems - learn the pros and cons of each in this video. ✅ Grab a copy of any of my four books on Amazon: amzn.to/4bNij3W

One thing to clarify (my full video on arm slot is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0FeqbAXyoZw.htmlsi=9ZGef8c1FgFS7_f3) - throwing sidearm is OKAY if your mechanics are solid. I mention players throwing "ugly sidearm", which is caused by the stride being too open. We don't want that. But if a pitcher has good mechanics generally, and his or her body still prefers to throw at a lower arm slot, there's not a thing wrong with that. Most pitchers will end up in the "normal" arm slot range - somewhere around 3/4. But arm slot varies and I am a big believer that when mechanics are solid, the arm slot will sort itself out naturally. Making big adjustments to mechanics will change arm slot for this reason, but it will level out when mechanics level out.

You were right. Going to help him fix this. Thoughts? At 3:12pm in your video…I am posting this. Makes so much sense. Thanks @dan. Will follow up.

My son’s arm angle is a bit low. Going to check this. Will record slow motion video from in front of him to check precisely. Great pointer. Thanks Dan. Just got your Pitching Isn’t Complicated book too. Good stuff.

Dan I just want to say I've been watching your videos a lot especially the mental tips ones and a few weeks ago I went to pitch in a really tough situation in the state tournament (extra innings runner on first, winning runner on second, 3-0 count for the hitter when I came in) and it was only my second varsity appearance since im still pretty young and I got out of it then shut them down the next inning and we won and I just want to say your tips helped seriously so much and I know most of those videos have like less than a thousand views but they really are helping people a lot so thanks for putting in the time and effort to make them

thanks for this - I'm glad I've been able to help. Most of the videos that get fewer views - the nitty gritty stuff, mindset, strategy, etc. - is the fun, interesting stuff to talk about. I accept the lower views and I know it's important for the right people. Good luck out there.

My son struggles with the "inverted w" at foot strike, have you done any videos on this issue?
@DanBlewett
@DanBlewett Месяц назад
search for arm dragging, I have a video on it - but be warned that the "Inverted W" stuff was a manufactured crisis by a pitching quack on the internet, and there is no science that supports it being a major source of injuries. Arm dragging is not good but research by the Washington Nationals' team doctor found no correlation between the inverted W in MLB pitchers and injury rates.

Foot strike/plant and still at that position? That is late arm action. look up videos about it.
