You forgot to mention that this city has one of the worst wealth gap on Earth, with THE most expensive housing on Earth. Millions of people living in miserable conditions, anything from a family of three living in 300 ft. apartments (that's called lower middle class), tiny closet-sized apartments or literal cages
Something i really don't understand about getting hotel rooms with gyms, huge flat screen tv, etc. I mean if you are a tourist, you are supposed to be enjoying "outside" and not the "inside of your hotel". I would rather pay good money to be surrounded by happy people, strong wine and beautiful women.
Part of tourism is enjoying good service & amenities. There are many weekend "tourists" who book hotels over the weekend even in their own city just to relax & forget about their busy weekdays.
Agreed. You go there for tourism not stay in the hotel all day long. Go outside, enjoy street foods, street market. Go to some landmarks, that's all about.
The one who is poor is the lazy one. In hongkong no job discrimination even a mongoloid can have a job like in Mcdonald many of their server don't have pleasing personality not just like here in Phil's. You must be good pleasing personality before you can be one of their server
Highway Robbery! Better stay at Chung King Mansions or any B&B then buy a Fake Rolex and a fake whatever! Then hit the town like Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in “Rush Hour” Head to a “ Dai Pai Dong” and stuff your face with Authentic HKG grub! Even the Michelin style Restaurant seem classy ! If you really have §160,000 head to the Island and Stanley to do shopping , then Jade Market, Temple Street and hike to the Peak and Walking Trails to Aberdeen ! Man live life Girl!!!😊🤔🤟🏼🇨🇦👍👏🏼‼️
The money they pay for a suite room in thoese fancy hotels is actually equal to or even more than what took my parents their whole lifetime to earn for a little apartment of our own. Such a welth gap and such a world!
Lol. It is a yanky made show....you can't expect too much.....they tried their best to claim whatever they can find is the best.....nevermind the truth. 🤣🤣🤣
People often comment on why HKers are always talking about money and so materialistic. It’s because they are exposed to some of the most obscene display of wealth AND the most gut wrenching display of poverty daily. How important having money is is literally in your face 24/7. If you live there, I think it would be hard to not develop a serious fear of being poor
You gotta love these vids, it's like saying everyone in NYC drives around in maybachs. Only a few Hong Kongers do this crazy crap, most are just millionaires that work regular jobs and take a crowded subway like everyone else ..
Hong Kong has so much to offer for cheap, you can go up to the 55th floor of the IFC for free if you bring your passport, junks are usually relatively inexpensive for a good day out on a boat, you can go to Chi Lin Nunnery, Choi Hung Estate, Montane Mansion, Ping Shek Estate, you can climb mountains (Ma On Shan is a favourite of mine), you can also go to the islands such as Cheung Chau and Peng Chau (I actually ran into Chow Yun-fat in Lamma Island... Really nice guy, took selfies with us and all). You can take the Tram, and explore the street level of HK without needing to walk, markets - tons of markets (I'd avoid the jade market, lots of it isnt real jade and the sellers tend to be very grabby) - if you like technology - SHAM SHUI PO!! golden computer arcade has TONS (and I'm talking 2 floors kind of tons) of electronics, gadgets, wires, entire laptops. Avoid the Taxis if you can since they're very expensive compared to buses and trams and the Star Ferry.
"no menu, to get a drink you'll have to describe your favourite things to the bartenders" that's already how I order drinks because I'm oblivious hahaha
All i know is my parents were posted in Hong Kong way back late30s i was not even born but i grew up seeing all the gorgeous silverware and an an exquisite fireplace screen studded with jade stones and a car inthose days the wheels had spokes a perfect vintage!! I was so fascinted seeing those pics inblack and white 🌹🌹
Just look at HK - not this rich, modern side; not the bank buildings and towering glass skyscrapers, but the shitty squalid conditions that most people from HK live in. The Gov are literally ignoring this problem where people pay so much fucking money for a small apartment with 2 rooms. And yet there are places like these and people who visit here with too much money.
@@rice.6520 that is the government's fault. & if it is a democracy then it the voting people's fault. If it is not a voting democracy then it is still the people who chose to stay. Many other democracies were born because the people wanted to be able to choose their leaders, either civil war or protests or both.
Not sure why some people find these expenditures "disgusting." These wealthy people, who already have beneficial capital investments in various industries, are literally creating tens-of-thousands of jobs in their drive to live very well (in a hedonistic sense, since financially poor people can live very well in other ways, too).
Tomi Adewole The rich cant create things at scale without the people who work for them. And scale is what makes them rich. If they invent something, they should get something more, but not thousands of times more than the people helping them scale. People like you have an inferiority complex or serf mentality about rich parachuting in to give everyone jobs because you obviously dont value your own work and contributions.
so after seeing this video is enough experience for me. who really need to pay for expensive dim sum or 160K wine when they'll turn into shit a few hours later. doesnt matter if it's a bowl of rice or world class cuisines they all become poop. ill just feel bad eating them while half the population dont even have 2 meals a day
When the British people were no longer the invader of the two Opium Wars ( 1839 and 1865), some Londoners do not have a roof over their heads this moment! So the secret was invade when you can! It is later than you think! George Wu, ARCHITECT, A.I.A.,NCARB 2019-2-18
I stayed at the Penninsula for my 40th , harbour suite , airport Rolls and a helicopter city tour - fabulous experience , but I'm not ultra rich - so my point is it's not that extreme in pricing
Some day in the near future, you might be able to step on to the moon directly from atop the terraces of these tall buildings. How is that for an experience?!
I dated a Hong Kong millionaire for a brief period. He owned multiple properties in Kowloon. Our dinner dates can range from $1,000 - $10,000. And when I visit, he would always get me a penthouse for about $5,000 a night and it was nothing for him.
Peace Out Jealous much? In Asian culture its normal to be arranged to date successful people. Parents want their child to secure a successful future with a successful partner that is either equally successful as them or more successful.
Wow what's with all the jealous and stupid POS calling someone a whore or hooker just for dating someone that is successful and wealthy. There's absolutely nothing wrong for being successful in life, learn to accept it as a fact, dipshits.
I just cancelled my trip due to the gang violence. I was really looking forward to return but those gangs with sticks beating up people in the subway and escalators was horrific.
good choice. Hong Kong isn't safe anymore, gov outsourced dirty work to gangs and police is mistreating citizen with brutality instead of to serve and protect.
I was there during that, the university I grew up in (CUHK) actually got seiged a few weeks ago, my dad still lives there. It was still ok to go outside after the triads attacked in Yuen Long since at the time it was an isolated incident and where I stayed (Sha Tin/Tai Po) was still relatively safe, going into the city was 50/50, you could still walk around but you had to be careful of tensions rising. Obviously I would not say that my area is safe anymore, especially since Wo Shing Wo have become a bit more active there, and violence is rising more and more.
bro hk is the safest city I'm an expat who was born there but studying abroad rn and I can gaurantee you even as someone living there in those turbulent times hk was completely safe for the expat and the land of the free. all time favourite city (and I have been to 35+ countries). no where on earth like it anyone saying its not safe bought into the fake news crap
Long King Heen restaurant should open a branch in high end hotels in Manila like Shangrila or Hyatt City of Dreams or at Conrad Hotel, they have a market there
I had the chance to stay in The Peninsula Hotel and take a ride to the Airport from the Hotel in the Hotels Rolls Royce car, couple of years ago. It was an amazing experience but was very costly . Mahbubar Rahman
I don't mind it as long as they got their riches legally. They can't take their money with them, when they go. Let them enjoy the fruits of their labor, just don't put your money under a mattress, make it work for others. As one Texan millionaire saied, "Money is like manure, put it in one place and it will smell; distribute it where it will do some good".
In life in some instances. Some people live in too much luxury and some live in too much poverty. Am lucky enough to live just beyond in bet. these living standards.
$3000 for 7 minutes, that is quite a mark up for a chopper that rent for say $1000 ? an hour in US. In the US, almost no one will ride on this for the rip off price. $3000 US is what it roughly cost to rent a mid size business jet for an hour. This video more accurately describe those with more money than brains. As a native of HK, I know I can get 90% of the enjoyment for under 10% of the cost. Often, the best of something is not necessary the most expensive. You want to buy the quality, but not the hype.
When I was there I saw people landing their helicopters on houses in Victoria Peak too....I googled and the cheapest home I could find in that area was 110M USD I think 🙀
Been in Hongkong for a short vacation trip. I would say, the choices to spend money is very limited. Not many places to go, not many tourism area. Indonesia is much much better choice.
for those who doesn't know, not like the white woman said in the video. most of the Hong Kong people we DON'T celebrate the hand over to China, we see it as tragic to be ruled by totalitarian.
Most of us wouldn't bother to pick up a penny from the ground if we see one, and walk past it. For Bill Gates, 15.000 USD is the equivalent of a penny for him. That is how much money he has.
i've heard that most of the mega rich don't spend like there's no tomorrow because how do you think they got there? warren buffet, one of the richest men in the world, lives a simple life.
Watching this video makes me realized that Middle East is still the best place to live and work and I Vote UAE . Working Here for 14years and it’s best way to help my Family back home my country is My beloved Philippines.
Oh and 3 Michelin star ratings. Are they bought? You just have to get to know how the adjudicators are - and HK has plenty of money to buy these. Some may be deserving of 3 star Michelin, but it should be confused with money buying these. There are plenty of very good eateries and should not be confused with how expensive the ingredients you use are. Standard high dining use Fois Gras, Uni from japan, lots of gold leaf - expensive wines ... all built on subjective points of view ... there are some 1 star michelin star restaurants in HK that are better some 3 star ones. It is all to do with who you know and who to pay (as rumour has it)
Each lifestyle must be depend on our income of coarse!!! Hongkong is one of the famous tourist destination. Best foods and sightseeing!!! There lots decent/ comfy affordable Hotels too!!!
Nothing bad for being Rich. But this inequality is tragic state of affairs. One gets a five bedroom for 15000$ for the night , the other is caged in a fence bin hardly making a dollar a day. Still we allow ourselves to be exploited and ruind by a handful of sly rots.
