Delaware native, Eldridge Johnson (b. 1867) was discouraged from attending college because he wasn't "bright enough." He went on to become a mechanic and revolutionize the way people listen to music with his company, The Victor Talking Machine Co.

I have a Victrola made in 1914 which runs as beautifully as it did when it was manufactured in Mr. Johnson's factory in Camden 110 years ago. I've been fascinated with the Victrola's history and have told the story you've mentioned here for decades. It's nice to know my facts were correct. I don't think too many products manufactured today will work perfectly in the year 2134.

Great video! I love to listen to these old beauties play, and I think the history should be taught, because as you said this was a huge contribution!

I have visited this museum and it was superb--you really ought to see the second floor's collection of rarities; there's even an Auxetophone up there. But downstairs is where the piles of old records and working Victors and Victrolas are kept--you can even hear them play.

Nice little snapshot of the museum. I hope to visit one day. They should, however, fix the spelling mistake on the wall.

Repent and trust in Jesus. He's the only way. We deserve Hell because we've sinned. Lied, lusted stolen, etc. But God sent his son to die on the cross and rise out of the grave. We can receive forgiveness from Jesus. Repent and put your trust in him. John 3:16 Romans 3:23❤❤❤
