For example there is a Korean Netflix series called "My country the new age" and it's just amazing and while I watched it I cried so so much but now that im rewatching it with my parents I maybe had a tear in my eye but didn't cry a river like I did when I was alone so yea lol I prefer watching movies and shows on my own as well hahahaha

XiGoat That doesn’t make much sense, it’s like saying “Life has no meaning without death,” it’s completely false, life itself is meaning enough to keep living. But it doesn’t matter how much someone is “overstimulating” their brain, they still have to stop and sleep, and sleeping is a way for most people to think. So stop being such an asshat on your high horse spouting dumb boomer bullshit like how you have friends and how “TECHNOLOGY BAD, OOGA BOOGA” is the greatest thought ever thunk before and get your bitch ass in the 21st century.

I had the same thing until I got a chance to practice last year as part of a board function in a ngo I volunteered for. My job as PR forced me to speed up my email process and improve the efficiency of partner meetings. After a while you realize what you are/were doing wrong. Here are some tips based on my experience: - try to create your own frameworks/templates for emails. After a while you'll unconsciously give that structure to each of your mails, after which you only have to 'fill in the blanks'. The more mails you send the easier this becomes. - during a meeting or phone call, keep notes! Once the discussion is over, run through your notes and recapitulate what has been said. Your conversation partner can then confirm or help you complete the conclusion of that discussion. Use these notes afterwards to process everything in your calendar or task list. - keep documentation on anything that requires effort to remember. This way you take the load of your memory. Many useful platforms exist, or you can use paper. - not many people care about receiving a perfectly sentenced email (unless maybe when making a first impression on potential clients/partners). Once the conversation is running, I usually prefer to keep things short and powerful rather than working hours to write a literary masterpiece. This makes it easier to get to the point.

I mean isn’t this two different ways everyone watches movies? I really need the sound of people talking in the background so I’ll throw stuff on while I’m tired or busy around the house but when it’s a movie I want to see I’m actively engaged. I don’t really know people who are only one way or the other.
@MVPMVE
@MVPMVE 3 года назад
When I watch a movie, I don't like to do anything else. I can throw on music in the background, but movies are not music. They're foremost a visual medium, which requires active engagement. If you don't want to actually _watch_ a movie, then don't have it playing idly. Stick to music. Movies, with the lights, colors, and movement coupled with dialogue and music, are basically overstimulation when you're in such a passive state, which is why it's draining. Edit: Just wanted to add that I think people have adapted to overstimulation, which is why attention is so poor nowadays. You can't be actively overstimulated for a long time, so you mentally "check out" after a while

While true, even he has a finite amount of true willpower what he did was make a routine and routines are easier to follow. It takes willpower to make a routine but once on the road the routine is easier to follow

Impressive every single thing you said in that sentence was wrong, try making a routine where you run 20 miles bike another 20 and lift, thats goggins routine, so just because its a routine its easy? Routines NEVER get easier, infact it gets harder because you need discipline, you need to push through the days where you dont feel like it. Im suprised you got 16 likes on such a bs commeny

It has been about a week or so since I watched this video. I’m on summer break. My kids are home. I’m making cakes for people. I had been so distracted and checked out. Watching too much drama on RU-vid and not concentrating with one this at a time. Well, I course corrected and I feel so much better. I’m doing less multi-tasking and more being invested. My mind is so much clearer. Thank you.

Oh my god this makes so much sense now. Thats why I'm always up and down. Its because I try to put my best effort into everything I do, which leads to mental death later on the day.

When you were mentioning things that take little energy, once you said "sweeping the floor" I had an instant thought of "oh I love a good floor sweeping session". I have never really thought before that I might actually enjoy floor sweeping, until this moment. Come to think of it, floor sweeping at work is like a low key meditation break.

Whenever I work from home office and need a break, I usually do some of the chores, like I wash the dishes or do the laundry or something. I would have to do them anyway, after the work, and I would be annoyed. But when I do them during a work break, it's actually kinda relaxing cause I switch from the creative intellectual process to completely basic manual task, my body gets a little excercise and my brain takes a little breather. :D

I've read couple books on self improvment, well power, discipline, success in life, meditation etc. and what you mentioned in this clip kinda sums it all up, in a less scientific but more intuitive way. I appreciate your work in this video and I'm subscribing for more :)

IKR! You know that feeling when you try to recommend something but they never get around to watching it so you invite them to watch it with you? But when watching the actual show they turn out to be passive watchers? It annoys the fuck out of me

I was trying to explain this to someone one time when I was recommending a movie to watch but they didn't even understand what I was saying. When someone been watching movies passively all their life they don't even understand the difference it seems, and of course, they didn't like the film because they missed out on 75% of the detail. Cinema remains though as probably one of the only formats where you kinda forced into paying attention with min distraction, unless you in the back row with your gf or something lol.

Krazykov I think with the modern day information overload people have much shorter attention spans. Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t cinemas used to have intermissions for their films? I honestly need that 😅
@Valhalla.Studio
@Valhalla.Studio 5 лет назад
@@oliviabird9737 Haha yeah, well for movies that are 3hours long like Lord of the Rings they def should have intermissions lol. But they probably won't do it because some people don't like it, it brakes the immersion I guess.

Trying to explain it in person is definitely going to be less effective, I think most people would see it as kind of condescending to just start talking about "the way they watch movies." Might be better to try to actually get them engaged in the movie in a meaningful way, rather than tell them they're watching the movie the wrong way. Maybe they didn't even like the movie, maybe they only payed half attention because they disliked it but didn't want you to think that they did. As for the intermission thing, that is why I never even bother going to the theater, unless I'm with a friend or two. I get so uptight sitting in the same seat for 2-3 hours, and when I'm watching a movie at home I can pause the movie to get a snack, use the bathroom, etc.

I do both. There's right times for both of those. I usually always have something on a background but when comes to new movies or tv series - I will watch them with full focus. Or when I noticed that something I'm about to watch while doing some task needs more intense watching; I will put that into a list of movies etc. to watch later when I can focus on it better.
