This is 3+ year rebuild. We're going to trade Kuzma/Poole/Kispert for 2025 picks, which has a more loaded draft class. Hard for Deni to keep developing while trying to develop our rookies and showcase our future trade pieces.
The Wizards management stated that they were hoping to obtain a second lottery pick; thus, it is not surprising that they dealt one of their players. It was also clear that management intended to reduce the number of forwards on the roster in order to accomplish this goal. So it was most likely that Kuz or Deni would be the ones to go. Regardless, I believe this deal demonstrates how the current NBA market values Deni over Kuz, who may not have the actual true demand as claimed, which is why Deni was chosen.
As a wizards fan I was hoping we would build around Sarr, Kispert, Bilal, & Denni. I felt like moving Kuzma, Tyus Jones, and Poole should’ve been our main objective
This is something I also agree with and I thought that was the original plan going into the summer. Still did okay with what they did last night and also who’s to say that they’re finished?
At this point Poole is untradable without attaching assets. Hopefully he can up his value this season with better play and one less year on his contract.
The issue is that Kuzma, Jones, and particularly Poole do not have sufficient trading value. In Poole's case, I'd argue that he has negative value given that he isn't living up to his massive contract, so management couldn't secure enough additional lucrative draft picks to build around Sarr, Kispert, Billal, and Deni.
A new subscriber here... a nice breakdown.....Deni has grown dramatically but still needs something of a left hand....Imho, I feel that as young as he is, he is very close to his top level. I would like to see his minutes go to another developmental project
1) I appreciate the sub! 2) and yes I agree… it would be interesting seeing him in another environment, I think he would be an AMAZING complementary piece next to scoot and Simons.
I think its a good trade. Let the new Picks develop. Next year draft os loaded and we dont know what The Kings wanted for him. So a pick next year is way better. Next year they're most likely picking a Wing hopefully a Cooper Flagg, Ace Bailey, Hugo Gonzalez. So people are gonna get traded. Once upset aren't actually really Wiz fans. Trade when the value is high not waste time like we did with Beal.
I think the Wizards were very high on Bub Carrington and wanted to get a mid first round pick to draft him by any means. They were rumored to be trying to trade Kuzma for the Kings #13 pick and my guess is they wanted to trade Kuzma more than Deni but the value just wasn’t there.
I'm not sure people realize how talented Sarr is defensively and how underrated his offensive potential is. There is a lot of Anthony Davis to his game. We have to remember that these are Sam Presti disciples who are running the basketball operations now and there is a certain type of player that OKC looked for to develop: Fundamentally sound, athletic players with long wingspans, that can be taught the specific skills that basketball analytics indicate players on winning teams possess. ...and Bub is my dark horse pick to be an All-Star while still on his rookie contract.
As a 10-year season ticket holder (now former) the wizards have been rebuilding for the past decade. Draft Picks are based on HOPE, plain and simple. Please don't compare Washington to Orlando/or OKC! Wake up wizards' fans, don't fall for the banana in the tailpipe trick like I did.
it really makes no sense sorry man i get what you say but it doesnt add up so u gonna keep kuz a what who throw like 25 shots per with bad efficient and 29 yo, but trade deni who just started actually growing and he is 23 yo make 0 sense to me
I agree with u. Here’s my take. 1) I think Kuz needs to go just as much as deni and I think he has to be next 2) they traded deni for two lottery picks which is a huge luxury. On top of that those guys they picked have super high upsides and are both under 20. I think the trade made a lot of sense for a franchise looking to go into an entirely different direction. Moving one player who is good but isn’t anywhere near being an all star for two lottery picks who are under 20 makes a ton of sense
@@TheRealTySmall when you put it that way i can ubderstand and they can get atleast another first round pick from malcolm, even though if you ask me deni could be bordeline all star
I keep wondering if the real reason they are trading some of their best young players away is because they have told the management, they will not resign with Washington. Maybe they all want to go to another franchise that gives them more exposure to the national media and where they can be on a winning team.
I just want them to move kuzma poole jones and brogdon. No hate, just send them places they can win and be useful. Poole will be iffy because of how he played though. May have to get less for him because I don’t really want him to stick around and take up minutes.
Agreed 100%. Brogdon will probably get swung again this offseason since he’s on an expiring contract. Kuz will also be next to go they may keep him after another year or by the deadline if anything. I agree on Poole they’ll probably see what he does this season and go from there
I intellectually understand trading kuz but I don’t think we should. He’s like one of 3 guys I’ve ever seen say they wanna be in Washington and we move him? I think it’s bad for morale
@@mikelawry7304 beal doesnt play defense and is just a shot chucker. good on you for getting him off. but yall replaced deni with a dude named bub LOL. deni is more promising and greater upside than jordan poole and wizards are hold onto that card?? respectfully its just a bad move
🫡Yes Bro. Deni is peaking at 23. Too early for us. We going super young 19, 20... Deni actually got us two 1st for Deni👍. Say that a year ago and everyone would laugh 🤣
Yeah. He fetched that return, because he's a young emerging 3 & D wing on an extremely team friendly contract. For a rebuilding team to trade that away w/o a king's ransom is insane.
Better way for me to frame it… this team has a surplus of wings between Debi, Kuz, and Coulibaly. Coulibaly they probably feel has the highest upside. Moving Deni could be the start of him having a larger role in the Wizards offense. Kuz could be the next guy to go
Next year draft is loaded where are those minutes gonna go? Kuz and others are still getting traded. We don't know what The kings wanted for Kuz at the time. If we can get a pick next for Kuz it's way better.
We tried to let bruh develop, he was Ight n then we get offered a haul for him, a deal you take 100% of the time while rebuilding. all 3 players we got last night are gonna be better than him, stamped
