This is a quick side-video I whipped up in two days. I made it in the hopes that future creators can be aware of this, potentially what to do if things like this happen, and showcase how intimidating the entire process is. Obviously, DO NOT harass anybody. I know the title is clickbaity, but I didn't make this video to attack or ruin someone's career, but to help other creators and to archive my experiences. I think it's only right that I talk about what exactly happened instead of just ignoring it since this affects other creators aside from me. and yeah i am working on actual videos dw lol, the next video won't take me a month and a half i promise.

Hello Dumbsville viewers. A few months ago, during Dumbsville's Klonoa series retrospective, he made some scathing remarks towards Freedom Planet, which happens to be favorite indie game of all time next to its sequel. He also took unnecessary potshots at Sonic Frontiers for virtually no reason. This led me to belive that Dumbsville harbored deep vitriol against the Sonic franchise and its contemporaries. As a huge fan of the former and latter, I thus distanced myself from his channel and social media since then. However, some time has passed, and I wanted to know if Dumbsville is still expressing his grudge as much as he did during that Klonoa video. If you could, please leave a reply on this comment to let me know if it's safe to resume watching Dumbsville video without the risk of hurting my feelings. Thank you for your consideration.

As much as we wish, being unhelpful isn't grounds to be sued. As explained in this video, the music artist themselves have very little to no control over what their labels do with the copyright. Could he have acknowledged the issue? Sure. Is not being helpful illegal? Not at all, and I wouldn't want it to be, especially because it could also be abused by trolls as well to demand your full legal attention to disprove every single claim regardless of validity

some can argue it is the knowing/conscious usage of copyrighted material (in this instance, an *Uncut Chunk of Metal Gear Dialogue* ], which could be considered grounds for a lawsuit i'd rather it be double-checked to confirm that it is knowing though

I'm a small Action Figure reviewer and had some background music copyright claimed. No Biggie, I thought, however, one video was claimed due to a cover of Power Rangers Theme, but not by Ron Wasserman, but by some guy, that changed "Go Go Power Rangers" to "something something I'm Armenian". Later on, another video was claimed - it was a review of an Iron Man action figure that had his 60s cartoon theme in the intro. Guess what, it was claimed by a hip-hop artist, that literally had a song, that was minute long followed by AN ENTIRE THEME FROM THE 60S IRON MAN CARTOON. I'd be okay if the original authors claimed my videos, I'd just fix them up. That's all. But why do these guys keep getting away with this?!

Thank you of making this video and making people aware that this happens! Cause it sucks! Bad! Exact same thing happens in a song called Yellow Giant from Awakening of the Yellow Giant Doshin. Original uploads of the song are getting copyright claimed by a rapper called Blossom Ona because he sampled it in song called No Thoughts. It's sad cause it's such a peaceful and beautiful melody that can't really be used anymore on youtube because of that bullshit.

There's been a similar problem with the sonic the hedgehog soundtrack. Many youtubers have used songs from the sonic 1 and are getting copyright claims and it's not thr og composer taking down these videos, it's a ramdom using ramdom names. I even saw a tweet saying that thr starlight zone song was copyrighted by a brazillian company

I make music and other silly shit on my channel, and many times music I have made myself using my own tools and DAW gets claimed by random assholes. To the point I hardly bother putting my music up. I haven't been eligible for youtube ad money for years.

I had a similar problem, I had a song claimed that was 12 bar blues, which is a super common style of chord progression. The guy who claimed it was using CDbaby as the distribution company to get his stuff on streaming platforms. I don't use any distrokid, CDbaby or any of those to get my music out because I think their practices much like record companies are a blight and they aren't run by musicians. To paraphrase what Prince said about the music industry, they are run by businessmen, CEOs, and lawyers that wouldn't know music if they heard it. I make music, I put it out for free because I enjoy making it and maybe some people will listen to it and like it.

I don't care much for rap usually, unless it's repetitively played on the radio and it's ingrained in my mind... BUT that one song by Oliver Francis you use in your outro is so addictive. I remember there was a guy who sampled the entire Pokemon Emerald intro while rapping over it who also had the automated system claim pretty much claim every Pokemon Emerald playthrough. There's also the case of some people who have gotten the power to abuse the copyright claim system but haven't, because they just so happened to be the first ones to upload gameplay of a game and now youtube constantly tells them that their video has been reuploaded and if they want to claim the other videos.

Slightly unrelated, but a similar thing happened when some nobody of a rapper [Slade Powder (also used DistroKid)] felt the need to exploit longtime composer Ferdinand J. Smith's iconic 1982 HBO (In Space) Feature Presentation theme by taking some random HBO Promos video off of RU-vid (in mono VHS archival sound and completely unedited) and creating a garbage song/medley titled "Hood Box Office/Religion." Much like with XZARKHAN's "song/medley," the song [Hood Box Office/Religion] is also terrible as usual, deliberately created to exploit Content ID money off of RU-vid archivists' preserved (old HBO promos) work. Again, do not send death threats to Slade Powder, but what he did was totally not cool.

RU-vid has A LOT of problems that people use and abuse, either for money or just being a dick, and this isn't new on the platform. They'll only fix it if, and only *if* this problem reaches on a really big company or by scandals like when they had to flag every "Kids related" content due to COPPA.

Back when I was like 15, I used to love rap. I thought it was so cool, I thought rap-artists were epic and badass. Then I grew up. Now they're lame and so much of rap is cringe. I guess the industry also just devolved so that's part of it too, but I can't help but to think my prepubescent brain was brainwashed by these losers flexing their toxic masculinity. Nowadays, I have lost all faith in the entire genre thanks to them.

Sorry to hear about this, man. RU-vid's content ID system, if not the entire RU-vid copyright system, is so goddamn flawed that I just can't wrap my head around it. It's freaking scary that even an average joe schmoe can even abuse the system, claiming or taking down other people's videos for either revenue or for more nefarious things, such as silencing criticism. However, I'm personally glad that the claims were released off the Metal Gear solid 2 video and that you didn't have to wait another month for a copyright claim to expire.

There’s an artist from the mid 2000s by the name Burial. He samples MGS 1 and 2 in his music but does it in a way where it’s more tasteful and subtle. Like than shell reload sound is a percussive element and it’s really cool and the MGS2 opening theme is altered to be in the background of the song and it’s really cool and I don’t see him copyright claiming others However this Zarkhan fellow just uses a whole ass exchange from the game point blank without doing really anything creative with it. I don’t mean for him to lose his career but this song is hell for the copyright system. Thankfully he has more popular songs than this so he isn’t losing much with this song
