Oh yeah, now I remember. GameArts was going to make a PlayStation All-Stars sequel around 2017, and then there were leaks about what the game would be. I think GameArts even admit they were working on a sequel at that time.
@@ShockwaveFPSStudios ah yes GameArts, the same developers that helped out on Super smash bros brawl and also Tmnt smash ups on Wii as this was before Bandai Namco took over development for smash bros wii u and 3ds to smash ultimate.
Someone paid the parappa voice actor 100 dollars to do some lines for a fan cartoon and he just stole the money and when they asked him for the money back he said and I quote "drop dead."
Thing is, all the rivalries have great thematic theming to them, such as Fat Princess vs Evil Cole. Gameplay-wise, both InFAMOUS and Fat Princess rely heavily on duality with the colors red and blue representing different sides. In Fat Princess, you can choose either the Red Kingdom or the Blue Kingdom, and in InFAMOUS, Cole can become either Hero Cole, who is represented by the color blue, or Evil Cole, who is represented by the color red. Both also have a theme of greed, with Evil Cole being power hungry and Fat Princess always being hungry and demanding for cake. Then there's Kratos and Sweet Tooth. Both God of War and Twisted Metal were created by David Jaffe. In addition, Kratos and Sweet Tooth are both known for their extreme brutality, and their games are infamous for the amount of violence in them. Both have also sacrificed allies for their own goals, with Sweet Tooth murdering his own gunman to make an explosion that would remove armor from a monster truck, and Kratos using a young woman that was accompanying him to open a door at the cost of her own life. Authority figures have also found ways to betray them. For instance, Kratos has been betrayed by the majority of the Greek Pantheon and the Titans, usually during some kind of battle, while Calypso backstabbed Sweet Tooth by turning his own wish against him (Sweet Tooth's wish was to have another chance to kill his daughter, the only person to escape him and live), sealing him inside his daughter's grave, and leaving him there to die. Also, Sweet Tooth and Kratos both killed members of their families, Ares tricking Kratos into doing it, as he consider it a sign of weakness, while Sweet Tooth killed them after carving his clown mask. And then there's Radec and Sir Daniel. Sony Computer Entertainment Cambridge have developed both Killzone and MediEvil games. They made one handheld game for Killzone, and for MediEvil, they created every single game in the franchise. In addition, both Sir Daniel and Radec were killed in the games they debuted in, and both were killed by a shot to the head (Colonel Radec shot himself for failing to defeat the ISA and Sir Daniel was shot in the left eye by an arrow before MediEvil even starts). Ironically, both die at the opposite point in their respective debut games, with Radec dying at the end of the game, and Sir Daniel dying before the game even begins.
@@jurtheorc8117 Nariko is a character created by Ninja Theory, and this version of Dante appears in the Ninja Theory reimagining of Devil May Cry. There's also the contrast of heaven and hell, male and female, cocky/laidback vs serious demeanor. They both use swords as well
I think the one that is very fitting is ratchet and clank vs Jak and Daxter, both are duos and we're popular on the previous generation, I can say the same for the guy from ape escape and parappa, as both were in the first Playstation Sackboy and Big daddy's interaction is plain weird, I just like the fact that the girl gave him a chance Toro and Heiachi... I mean Toro is trying to learn about karate and ummm... I can't say anything else rather than they both appeared in the PS1 too
I use to play Fat Princess, So I like that she's in this game, and I get sad when she's the one always pointed out as the character who doesn't belong here. Like leave her alone 😭
There isn't exactly anything wrong with fat princess but she sorta embodies one of the biggest problems with the games roster that being that a lot of it seems to exist to just advertise games instead of celebrating them. Best example I can give is that they put reboot Dante into the game instead of the original Dante just to advertise the reboots release.
She could've been a better character choice if the base roster already wasn't so lackluster. Like, in a roster that already had characters like Crash, Spyro, Cloud, and all the popular characters that people wanted, Fat Princess would've been a funny gag pick since her game was somewhat popular back when All Stars was a thing. Except since the actually roster was already missing a lot of key faces (and wasn't very good), FP just sticks out as much as Evil Cole or Heavenly Sword Lady or Reboot Donte
Fun Fact #1-The creators of PlayStation All Stars wanted to use the White Haired Dante but Capcom wouldn’t let them because they were trying to have DMC reboot Dante instead as some sort of means of advertising their game. Fun Fact #2-Dart Feld from Legend of Dragoon was originally supposed to be a DLC character in All Star but was cancelled for reasons.
i’d go one further, every match should start with 2 opposing fighters (picked at random from those in the fight, accounting for team battles) doing a mortal kombat style conversation.
17:07 - 17:33 This awakened a part of my brain. There's no way an AMV of this exists but my brain is trying to make me think there was. It's the exact editing of weird game AMVs I'd see in junior high, hell I still watch them sometimes. How do you always do this, every video has something that dredges up something from the bowels of my mind that just says "yeah, this is correct."
Fun fact: the Dreamscape stage is actually based on early footage of LBP, right around the time where the gardens were themed after Germany instead of England.
The PS3 and PS4 were Sony's last go-ahead with surreal PlayStation experimentation, they're never gonna make another PaRappa, Sly, etc. and that's sadboy hours.
13:49 the Parapa costume is actually cut content from LBP1, the costume was supposed to be DLC but was scrapped in early development. Someone actually found the files for the costume inside a PS3 dev kit. Since you plan on making a video on LBP, maybe talk about the cut content as well, it's very well documented :)
@@beefaxthis will not be addressed and is not of note.‘please move along it’s been almost half a year. I don’t appreciate the sentiment of chunky Vs beard nonsense from a critically panned clink taffy like this. Borderline hateful. See-eightful.
the real problem with this game is the absolute lack of vib-ribbon....disgusting. edit: There is no mention of this in the video. Chaz why have you forsaken me.
colonel radec being in this game is so funny to me considering hes only in killzone 2 for like 5 minutes, has the best boss fight in the series, kills himself, and is never mentioned again while still being the best character in the entire series, they knew nobody would wanna play fuckin rico or some shit
Fun fact: in the Japanese verison of Playstation all-stars battle royale Japanese dub, Fat Princess Japanese voice actress of game was Miki Ito. The Same Japanese voice Actress that voiced Android 18, Taiga Fujimura, Nova in super robot wars, and Eva Ushiromiya in Japanese.
The potiential for Playstation Allstars NOW is staggering. Can you imagine new ip like Horizon New Dawn, Ghost of Tsuhima, and now Helldivers interacting with goofy ass characters like Parappa, Raiden, and Daxter. This game has some major issues but i grew up playing this game way too much and it hurts my soul everyday knowing fot a sequel if they really polished the fuck out of the game, maybe change the way you can KO people, and just made you beat the shit out of the astroboy robots as the hunter from bloodborne would make sony bank. MAKE ME THE CREATIVE DIRECTOR PLEASE, LET ME MAKE IT (also ost is goated idc)
11:28 fun fact, the reason why these songs use the same flute is because it’s a preset in apple’s loop libararies, which video game composers love to use for some reason.
Just a reminder, Kulche from LocoRoco, A Patapon with the Strength Helm and Tatepon Sword, Chop Chop Master Onion, Buzz, Ico, The Wanderer, Dart from The Legend of Dragoon, Abe from Oddworld, Tomba, Rau Uta from The Mark of Krai, Ellen from Folklore, Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden, Chun-Li, Sub-Zero, Croc, and motherfucking BLASTO were considered for the game as possible playable characters. They also did try getting Snake, Cloud, Crash, Spyro and Lara Croft, but couldn't get them for various different reasons. With how big Sony is and how small the dev team (Superbot) was, it really felt like self-sabotage with Sony throwing the devs under the bus.
I'm convinced half the reason you made this channel chazington is to talk about shit like this because they're so small that the only way to have a conversation about these in the internet is to make an video on it yourself and I commend you for it
My dad gave me the choice of buying this or spongebob plankton's robotic revenge when I was 6. I chose the spongebob game, and that was the beginning of my downfall.
This genuinely was a cool idea for a game. It was just made at the wrong time. With all the new properties Playstation has made since this, it would be interesting to see them try again.
I think the funniest thing about PS All-Stars to me is how explicitly dated to the PS3 it is, mainly due to most of the featured IPs being dead in the water. It's like Smash Bros, but they don't really have a Mario, and half the characters are less relevant than Pit. But if they were to make a sequel today, I feel like they'd have to include Spider-Man, which is really funny to me because imagine playing a game where the roster is "random video game characters but also Spider-Man is here"
The PS3 will live in infamy for me for basically hard coding MGS4 into being the last remaining console exclusive on earth for reasons that even God shrugs at.
Kojima and his team were actually able to get MGS4 to run on the Xbox 360 but didn’t release it because it would have to go on around 7 DVD discs to work.
What I wouldn't give for Smash to have any amount of actual _individual_ character interaction like in this game or Subspace Emissary PLEASE I JUST WANT TO SEE MEGA MAN AND MR. GAME & WATCH ACKNOWLEDGE EACH OTHER FOR 5 SECONDS
@BinglesP the problem is that Smash has a preposterously large roster, so it's not very scalable for interactions that most will skip after seeing them once
Chazington has become one of my favorite RU-vidrs due to the fact every video is like some obscure piece of nostalgia I feel like I experienced alone as a kid. Now I found out you played little big planet like omg wtf I need that video. AND PVZ GW?? Like this almost does gives me that sonder thing
They really wanted to do more with PlayStation Allstars, but Sony barely funded Superbot, and when they tried to get more big named characters they were either too expensive or outright refused. I wish there was a sequel with a budget of more than 40 bucks to truly explore the potential of this series.
Is there anything special on anything else? Like xbox is going all in with PC integration (probably cause the series is losing pretty bad), there's nothing special on it really. Nintendo will always be Nintendo. It really just feels like console fights are over. Or will never be the same. It's all available on every platform now, and it's all better on a computer.
@@willyeeton4390 you really only need a switch and a pc if you want to play the vast majority of new releases. The fight between Xbox and PlayStation at least is completely meaningless
Lol wut. There's plenty on PS5. I'm confused by your comment. Regardless of whether or not the games go to PC, that doesn't mean the system doesn't automatically have games. That's not how it works.
to explain Sweet Tooth's position and Twisted Metal; most of the game releases extensive lore ( 1, 2, Black and Head-On ) ends up creating an established universe where ST is known as Needles Kane but is an alter ego to the real man; Marcus Kane. Marcus in the game's ( 1,2 & Head-On are canon but Black is non-canon, Black in a way is Twisted Metal told in a bleak, dark and gloomy world where Sweet Tooth is a serial killer ) drives a mad-max like muscle car known as Roadkill. Then there's Calypso who is this otherworldly demon with powers who runs a content every year for drivers to enter and battle for a prize; one wish of their granted desires and he usually ends up doing his wishes like this where he'll either benefit the winner in a way where nothing bad comes of their wish ( example; Axel as a young man had been welded to two huge monster truck wheels by his father, wishes to confront him and show he's the better man by removing himself from the wheels. Or where Spectre, in two, is a failing Hollywood star that only desires attention and fame. so Calypso fucks him over by stretching his face so huge it covers the entire city of New York ) or will fuck you over by your own words. TacticalBaconProductions has done a huge playlist dedicated to certain twisted metal games breaking down each character or even a single character where so much detail is told through the videos.
To Quote some other RU-vidr that has more subscribers than me… “It was the right game, at the wrong time.” That’s basically what PlayStation All-Stars is. Back in the Early 2010s, any time a Platform Fighter that’s not Smash Bros comes out, it’ll fade into obscurity because “Smash Clone”. Now that we live in a world where “Smash Clone” is slowly starting to disappear, and now that we as a society have accepted Platform Fighters as their own… if PlayStation All-Stars came out now, it probably wouldn’t get a lot of backlash from when it did came out. I’m no optimist, but if a sequel or a remaster did come out, I would totally be on board with it.
Ok so the reasons why crash and Spyro weren't in cause Activision were asking for a price they couldn't afford, cloud wasn't in cause square enix weren't gonna trust their most popular character to an inexperienced team, and lara Croft wasn't in cause she was going through a reboot at the time. Also dart from legend of dragoon and abe from abe oddsy were gonna be dlc
Theres actually some meanings behind each Rivarly. I can't remember every reasoning but it was from a comment on a video that showed all the dialogue interactions. The few I know is that for Kratos and Swee Tooth they were both made by the same person.
Hop off Buzz! That was my family's shit on the PS2, just seeing that fuckass controller with the big red buzzer and the colored answer buttons gave me a shot of nostalgia.
The stage crossover mechanic is still such a cool idea to me. Like imagine a smash stage where it’s like a Zelda overworld and it slowly turns into a Pokémon one, thats awesome
It's important to point out that DmC reboot Dante was in the game *before* the reboot was out, the same thing with Raiden (which means no one knew how good Revengence would have been). The BioShock Infinite stage too
it would be awesome if they retried this. young kratos and old kratos, Joel and Ellie (combined and single), spiderman, Helldiver, the old cast, and whatever else sony can scram. maybe Norman Reedus from death stranding
I will forever love Playstation All Stars Battle Royale and nobody will ever make me think otherwise. (Also I do not tolerate the disrespect to The Unfinished Swan at 11:58 that game is really cool)
@@supper_e1823 Honestly, the game is really fun after the prologue, maybe just doesn't have as much gameplay as some people want, but at least the night sections have some more thinking.
The one thing I find ironic about this game is that two of the franchises featured in this game were also, at one point, or would be in the future, represented in a Smash Bros game (Metal Gear with Snake and Tekken with Kazuya)
It really’s ironic that Sony would use some third party characters that are more well known on PlayStation than Nintendo consoles. Whereas PlayStation All-Stars had two third party characters that are more known on the Xbox. I mean sure Bioshock & Dead Space were on the PS3, but they started out as 360 games so… still weird that Big Daddy and Issac Clarke made it into All-Stars. Honestly I just feel like Smash Bros having Snake, and the FF7 characters were weird. I get that for Snake, Kojima wanted him into Smash not to mention there were ports of Metal Gear Solid that were released on Nintendo consoles, but it’s still a weird choice compared to Most Third Party characters. I know Final Fantasy started out as a Nintendo console, but after FF7 came out on the PS1, the series became more of a PlayStation series throughout the 6th & Early 7th Generations Before FF13 became a 360 title. I can give Kazuya a pass as Namco developed the last two Smash Bros games, and Tekken is their fighting game series, so it’s not that strange compared to Snake Cloud & Sephiroth’s inclusion in Smash.
I'll be honest, I was sooo hyped for this game when I was young and I played the heck out of it dude. I mained Parappa and let me tell you there was nobody who could play him better than me
Fun fact; This is canon to God of War The game directors confirmed it was canon on Twitter Zeus canonically just beefed with Isaac Clarke for a little bit before returning to Greece to fight Kratos
This game had so much planned for it in the beginning. The Creators of it wanted a story mode, more characters, better menus, but PlayStation fucked them and they did the best they could. If they'd been able to go through with their plans, get more support, balance the characters better, this shit coulda been gas. Now it's just an old game RU-vidrs make fun of every few years and it breaks my damn heart.
LOL I actually remember when Shokio uploaded that video complaining about the characters in this game. The "Spamtos" thing even became an inside joke in our gaming subcommunity for quite some afterwards. God, hard to believe that was 12 years ago almost...
