Kappeler Milchsuppe is a Swiss milk soup with quite a history. Its origin goes all the way back to 1529. Legend has it that this soup was created by hungry infantrymen. They were on opposite sides of a conflict between Catholics and Protestants, but they put down their weapons and pooled their milk and bread to make and share soup. That soup is now credited with bringing peace to the region and honored with a memorial on a battlefield. Now, that’s an impressive soup. It’s still served in Switzerland to this day. My Dad makes this. I didn't know it was a real dish. He makes this when he is trying to have a serious chat with me. When I was young and I smelled it cooking, I'd leap out my bedroom window to avoid this chat.

@- it was during the sacking of Rome by Germanic mercenaries (iirc) in 1527. Out several hundreds guards (mainly civilians) only 189 Swiss stood to defend the pope, some escorted the pope through an Avenue that lead to Castle saint Angelo while the rest stayed behind to fight the Mercenaries. Out 189, only 42 survived the ordeal Edit: Some inaccuracies and spellings

I'm learning German, and man it feels so good to understand a new language! Before, German was just a noise the i hear while reading the translation, but now i follow the audio and find myself dissecting the sentence, for grammar new words, and accents, the part where talked about the soup being "like fondu but lighter" did NOT sound like i would've said it in my broken formal high German... Sorry for the rant, I'm just excited about new experiences with a (multiple) new culture(s) through my newest language :D
