Yeah, before you say it, I KNOW that this doesn’t actually talk about any gameplay flaws. Kurohyou story be like: Why is this game so popular in Japan if bootleg Nishiki is just a shitty character? *Funky music, a live action series, character development and amazing boss fights later...* NO WAIT I NEED MORE OF TATSUYA PLS DONT GO

I WOULD say Kurohyou 1 and 2 need Kiwamis if they're gonna get ported, but I don't trust Sega to keep the feeling of the game especially considering how unique those 2 games are. All I'm saying is the last thing I wanna see is Kurohyou in the Dragon Engine.

I don't see anybody talking about how kurohyou 1 and 2 could be better, so here is 1. Normal enemies shouldn't have better IA than bosses, for real the bosses are easy a fuck in comparison with a random enemy, the random enemies will try so hard to make a counter even if you are in a string (this is even more intense in 2) 2. Make Tatsuya walk faster, for real 3. In kurohyou 2 there is a stupid mechanic which the enemies has, if they grab you when you are in a state of stun (when you need to press x to recover) the x button will disappear and you can't get free doesn't matter if the fight is starting or you have full health, but if you do the same thing to the enemies they can get free which is really annoying The two games have an amazing story, Tatsuya is an incredible protagonist who has a lot of development, incredible music, and really really enjoyable gameplay, like I don't get bored grinding exp for the styles These two games would have sell pretty well in the west, but looks like Sega didn't believe enough For kurohyou 1 there is a translation for the story, but only that, I had to use a Japanese site for submissions and etc

Well in regards to the samurai games we may have some hope. The producer of the Yakuza series did come out recently to say he would like to localize them after seeing how successful Ghost of Tsushima was.

From what I heard, the problem with ishin and kenzan is that the game is heavily based on japanese folklore and Sega and RGG Studio believe that westerns wouldn't understand a lot and that it'd be tough to translate

I recommend people play Kurohyou 1 because it's the only one that does actually have a fan translation.

I wouldn't mind having all 4 of them ported over to the west or any country that doesn't have them.

To answer your question about the story? I can understand Japanese after 3 years of learning them and I still am doing so, I 100% certified: THEY... ARE... AWESOME. Instead of focusing on plain combat, they depicts Japan in 2 different eras: Sengoku and Bakumatsu. (Well this is gonna be long) Kenzan takes place in post-Sengoku era, specifically after the Sekigahara battle, the game depicts the fun erotic sides of Japan, how the brothels and the girls operate, and so on... Ishin takes place in the ending age of Bakumatsu era, it mainly focuses on Japanese politics. But these 2 games have 1 thing in common: SWORDSMANSHIP. And they’re both great! Hope they get official translation so that you can enjoy it too.

These games are swag AF, Kenzan’s story is awesome, Ishin a little less so but it has good moments, Kurohyou games hype, yes yes, bring them over

Oh boy, do i have the news for you.

I highly recommend you to learn Japanese history before you play Kenzan or Ishin if these came to west. When it comes to Ishin, the difference between plot and real history makes Ishin much more interesting. I think that is one of the reasons Kenzan and Ishin weren’t translated.

Ah yes, same here really want them in the west too. Kurohyou duology were made by the Def Jam team on the combat, the PSP games could definitely be ported on today's platforms cause look at MGS Peace Walker HD. If they were to ever release all 4 games like in a collection or deluxe or any special edition for $70.00 or more I buy it. I don't know but I feel like Fist of the North Star Lost Paradise could your next video, what could make it better, make every characters besides Ken have their own Yakuza skins, but most importantly released on other platforms.

There exists 2 separate translations of Kenzan. One is a playthrough and the other is a walkthrough

As for someone who played and beat Kurohyou and Kurohyou 2 (twice) without a lick of the holy language of Japan....... yeah they need to bring that shit KAZUMA!

The fact that "Born to be Wild" wasn't blasting during the Kurohyou segment was incredibly dissapointing.

So interesting thing I read once (if it’s entirely false please correct me) about why Ishin (and possibly Kenzan) weren’t localized for the west. Mostly because of the two having a very influential person from history as its protagonist (they also are basically kiryu), Sakamoto Ryoma for Ishin and Miyamoto Musashi for Kenzan. I heard something something it would be very hard to localize such a huge part of actual Japanese history and the respective eras. I might be wrong but that’s what I’ve heard And also my headcanon is Kiryu is a direct descendant of both Ryoma from Ishin and Musashi in Kenzan

I really like the psp games. I played a patched version on a vita and even though it bearly worked (the translated text i mean, most of the time it was just * with あ and い sparkled around i love every second im playing.

I hope Kenzan gets Remastered and Localized, not using Dragon Engine.

Personally I think Kurohyou is one of the best Yakuza game because the fight felt more gritty (Like a slap), and the story is much more serious

Fyi, Yakuza Black Panther 1 has an english patch with the rom you can get for the psp emulator (PPSP), so now you can play the first on english, fully translated by a hardcore group of fans of the game. As far as I know, it had been in development for years, but its out now 👌🏼

If I could make one change to Kurohyou 1 and 2 it would be to make getting xp for the styles easier or quicker cause it can take some time I haven't finished Kurohyou 2 yet so maybe later in the game there might be a quick way of getting xp for styles but for Kurohyou 1 it can definitely take some time

I only played the English patches of both Kurohyou 1 and 2. The gameplay is as good as the story in the first game. A good change of pace from the other Yakuza games, as you see Tatsuya's character change into the person he is in Kurohyou 2. However, the story in Kurohyou 2 is average, but it does some pretty cool things throughout it. The gameplay is more enhanced and improved from the first, making fights more engaging. _I know it's been a year (at the time I wrote this) since the video was uploaded, but I wanted to add my piece about those games._

Kurohyō 1 & 2 were co-developed by syn Sophia (formerly known as AKI Corporation) who happened to make the Def Jam series, specifically DJ: Vendetta and DJ: Fight for NY, infact; the combat of these both games were modeled after Fight for NY with their engine, the character customizations (yes!, you can create your own characters there for the multiplayer "Communication" modes that can be played solo, coop and even versus!), the animations, fighting styles directly from that game and combined with the elements of the main series Yakuza/RGG titles. They also happen to make some wrestling games (both licensed and unlicensed); well known being WWF No Mercy for the N64, also also developed two SimCity games for the DS. oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I created bootleg Kiryu during my playthrough of DJ: Fight for NY on the GameCube.

I'm afraid kenzan will invite normies to ban the game. Spoiler though, Child proossstitttution, Miyamoto Musashi/kiryu admit his love to haruka, literally. Aside from that, I love the rivalry between musashi and kojiro, the origin of dual wield sword, etc. An interesting history-ish yakuza game

I kinda understand about they don't want to look samurai or heroic in a wacky way without learning the history first. But in history the winner write them all. So Kenzan/Ishin need to localized too. But yes. Kenzan might need Kiwami or Remastered, while Ishin Might just Remastered eventually becuz Ishin use the same engine in Y5 and Y0. With present day, we even have Waifu Heroic Spirits shiz (don't ask me how i say that) so why not in This Wacky Shogun War shiz too? (Also i'm sub you becuz i litterally watch Ranking Among Yakuza (No dead Soul and Judgement) from Worst to Best. You get what you want. Even 50% of video are joke, but some of them are the real struggle of player which is relateable.)

AFAIK RGG doesn't seem to want to translate or remake either of the Kurohyou games, which is a shame because those games getting the Kiwami treatment would be fucking sick, especially if they brought back Naganuma for the OST. Ah well, at least we got the fan translations... though IIRC Ashura-Hen's translation hasn't been fully completed yet.
