7 years late to the party but it worked a charm on two 15's that were given to me. Thank you!!! Curious why yours is so much faster than the one I used to follow along with. It's old technology now but it should be as fast as yours at least? Oh well. Free laptops in great unmolested condition so still a win for basic needs. Thanks again!

EXCELLENT, shift key+pwr button and then restart is the answer, chose to do the short method of not completely wiping and then was able to reset everything, took about one hour, told cortana to get a dam attitude or get lost, to no avail, did RESTART and all good

Hey Serg Tech.....my cousin is sending me a second-hand laptop that was owned by her father-in-law. When you say reset to factor settings.....does that mean it will be with the programs that came with it? Like if the person purchased a Microsoft Office package when they ordered the laptop.....will that still be there? Also any other software the person purchased before they received it????? i originally got my dell inspiron 15 5000series with W8.1 and later on upgraded to W10. So now if i factory reset my pc , will it roll back to W8.1? And if it gets back to W8.1 will it cause any problem as the drivers were all upgraded to W10 ??

What if you can't get to desktop. My Dell Inspiron 15 failed to finish the new setup and got stuck at the "Just One Moment" (for six hours). Do we download the DELL restore .iso for Windows 10 and try to fix it that way?

mine has a different problem 15.6 touchscreen why it was resetting I unplug the battery at the same time so I got this thing you said reset your computer a little square in the center and it won't go back to sleep once I wish I could take a picture and show you it I tried all the buttons I can't find a way to show me what buttons to use it goes to F2 and F12 screen if you could show me what buttons do you use for this problem I sure appreciate it

I have a question i have the same computer it was my brothers and has a password on it. I tried the selection to completely clean the drive and to just remove the files and both options load for awhile and then it says undoing changes and says nothing was done. Why is this and why wont this computer finish resetting?

Worked perfectly, took 4 hours exactly for me. after witch I got this message: "A configuration change was requested to clear this computer's TPM (Trusted Platform Module) WARNING: Clearing erases information stored on the TPM. You will lose all created keys and encrypted data and stored keys. Press F12 or Volume Up to clear the TPM Press ESC or Volume Down to reject the change request and continue") I pressed F12 and Installing windows shows on screen, it took another 30 minutes. If you have anything incripted or special keys that will be erased to factory as well. (Total time of 4 hours 30 minutes)👍. By the way my computer was brand new a couple of days of use and my log in password would not work. Took me over 6 hours The video is great, BUT fails to address this WARNING: Clearing erases information stored on the TPM. [[[[ You will lose all created keys and encrypted data and stored keys. ]]]]]] what does this mean, ???? the key as in product key for windows 10 if I press F12 I will lose my windows key? YIKES then I have to go buy another windows 10 Press F12 or Volume Up to clear the TPM Press ESC or Volume Down to reject the change request and continue")

I did the second option which was clicking on troubleshoot however once it finished loading for the reset it said "something is preventing your computer from reseting we think an update would help" it keeps doing this over and over again please help

So your second reinstall of hold shift & restart seems to have had worked it’s in process now of resetting at 1%. Hopefully this fixes my issues.
