Am about to make the jump to printing nylon. Pa6-CF to be specific. Long time PLA+ printer, I mastered that material. Some prints are shown on my channel. I’m just waiting on the printer upgrades to arrive (ceramic hotend, sonic pad, filament dryer etc)……pretty much only thing I’m worried about is bed adhesion. Did you have to switch bed materials to print nylon or did you have success in using the same bed you use for PLA? Have heard glass and garolite is ideal for nylon, so I’m wondering if I will need to change my bed out. We’ll see I guess 🤷‍♂️ love your stuff dude

Could you use aluminum foil to cover it to trap the heat?

you can leave speed settings and dial down max flow in filament , to slow it down. Thats what I do. check speed after slicing to get speed you want.

Smokie, why dry the filament in the printer when you literally have a purpose built filament drier?

It doesn’t dry it at the right temp. The one I have maxes out at 55c and you want to dry it at 100-80c

Wouldn't covering the filament up not evaporate the water thats retained?

You know that’s a great question. Iv been doing it for so long I failed to ask why lol 😂 but I mean it works…

@smokieprints486 Oh yea, I saw your original video! I have the same set up and I only use 3DXtech. What I was just thinking was that the heating system is kind of useless because unless it is in a confined, dedicated apparatus, its not going to wick it away from the filament. I'm currently searching for system to do 100°C for the temp like a dehydrator and then chamber vacuum seal it for long term storage.

Yeah ideally you would have some sort of holes or gaps to allow for ventilation/convection

Thanks for the knowledge. I have the P1S. Would I need to upgrade the nozzle or am i golden?

The p1s should have the extruder gears and hot end upgraded to hardened steel for any abrasive materials I believe.
