But, criticism isn't a negative thing. If you are lucky enough to find someone, who is sincere and willing to discuss your work, you can benefit in many ways. Not only will you improve as an artist, but become a stronger and more confident person.

Thanks for an interesting topic today. I have been following your videos for several months now and thoroughly enjoy your slow stitching. Although I have been quilting and sewing for over 50 years I have just started this slow stitch journey. It has been a challenge as I am use to following patterns and such. I am just finishing up a wall hanging for a grand daughter who got married. It is part embroidered, part slow stitched and bound like a quilt. Lots of different (and new ideas) I have added. I also just put together tags to make a sampler of your fabric element ideas. Thanks for sharing. I guess it's never too late to learn something new!!

Lots to think about here. The funny thing is for me, is that I’m probably toughest on myself. I’m often critical about a piece of my work, where others think it looks fabulous. An artist sometimes sees the little flaws that others don’t see. Thanks for this discussion. 👍😃

Thanks for your interesting reflections Daniela. I was reading about criticism in The artist way by Julia Cameron and she was saying something similar to you. As artists we can’t control the critical reviews but we should learn to protect us from the unfair and non constructive ones. She said that creativity is the only cure against criticism.

Oh, I like that "creativity is the only cure against criticism". It's a way to re-enforce trying again, pivoting and making another attempt at our goals. A lot of times, when we're hurt (with unconstructive criticism or cruel comments) we respond by shutting down or giving up. Trying to become strong enough to dismiss those words and not let it dull my spark is my goal.
