Hello Tether app can’t find my TP-Link Archer C6. Also I can’t go into the router settings via website or ip adress :/ how can I fix it? My internet is workong fine, but I want to see my settings in the router.
Are you running the official firmware or is it on an custom 3rd party firmware like WDRT? Open a command prompt and do an IP config. Find the gateway address and ping it. If you can ping it you should be able to access the URL from that.
Yes that is what remote access is intended for. However the cavate is router does need to have its internet active and connected and the TP-Link ID must be active on the router. If these conditions are met then you would be able to use the Tether app to access most of the router's settings remotely.
Remote access fails most of the time telling me that the router is offline when I'm sure it's not....quite disappointing given I've upgraded my router just to have that feature
@@chrismysterion A few things to try. 1st look at the router logs. Ensure there are no drops in service or cloud access. Next unlink your TP-Link ID from the router and re-link it. Finally sign out of the cloud account and back into it on the Tether App. Also make sure its the same account as that has been a issue for some.
Not all features are available it Tether. At this time Tether is not designed to give full control of all features a router has. You will still need to access the Web UI for some.
@@TPLINKTECH Thank you for providing cutting edge technology. I've been a tplink user since 2013, and will continue to use tplink products for my projects and network setup. I hope you can add Access Control to the feature of tether. Thank you and stay safe.
I have setup my tp-link archer c9 as a bridge but now it's not allowing me to login I have tried mayny solutions but in vein. Plz suggest me any solution
If the router is setup in AP or using WDS you would looks DHCP and the router would not longer be broadcasting an IP address. You would need to find out what the IP of the router is and then manually set that as your computers IPv4 gateway address in order to gain access to it. Or you can reset the router back to factory defaults. If you are trying to use a router as an extender i would recommend a range extender instead.
@@zaighumhassan7398 Then to access you would need to set your computer's nic to an unused IP and set the gateway address as 192.168.10.2. Since DHCP is disabled this would be how you would access the router's interface.
I have the setup completed and I can see my router as a cloud device but since yesterday when I choose to connect the circle is just spinning for a few seconds and then just goes back to the view where you can select the device so basically I lost the possibility to manage remote features which were available for me a few days back. I am currently not at the same location but I need to have an option to manage devices and available web addresses, any solution for me, or am I just have to wait until I am back at home. It is quite frustrating at this point. Appreciate any helpful coments. Cheers
if its not connecting you can remove the Tether app and reinstall and log in, though it might not help and a reboot of the router would then be needed.
If ur not on the same network and using some other network tether wont sign in. Whatever the company/ reply says it just doesn't work. Remote work from anywhere not just on the same network.
So at the login of the app it says control your network from anywhere I don't want that and want only from LAN or on my local network behind the firewall so how do I turn it off and make it LAN control only
Tether does now require to be bound to a TP-Link ID but the router does not have to be if you do not setup the TP-Link ID on the router then you will have only local access./
@@TPLINKTECH In essence, what you are saying is that if we wish our router to remain only local, we will then lose access to the Tether app functionality. I am really dissapointed that TP-LINK decided to make this decision as the Tether app was a quick, easy way to change local settings, without having to worry about potential external exposure to my local network, should TP-LINK accounts ever become compromised.
@@RogueNewbie Yes that is the understanding. You can still use the Web Interface though locally that does not require a TP-Link ID or the internet as it (tplinkwifi.net) is a local network address.
please tell me how to see the external ip using this app. I am using PPPoE Connection and the provider change the external ip once a day or more. I want to connect to my router using this app and find out what is external ip. But this app is not showing me that..
Thank you for your quick reply. In that globe image (status) , if you using pppoe connection , this app is not showing you nothing but connection type , username and password. I will try to use dynamic dns on a service called noip to see if it's working. All I wanted to do with this app was to find out the external ip because my provider is changing everytime you connect. Is there another way to find out the external (public) ip using this app ? Or to change 255.255.255.255 ip at remote connection ? Thank you very much and waiting for your answer.
Ohh :) I will give a key from my house to neighbor , and call him to enter my house and type at my computer what's my ip :))) so tired of this . Definetely i eill change my router :)))) lool
J'ai déjà un router que je n'utilisais plus...je veux m'en servir à nouveau...mon mot de passe est bon...mais un me demande un CODE et rien n'est écrit sur l'appareil...comment je fais...
@@mrkarthik3696 the C20 does not feature the remote log in option. It is compatible with TP-Link Tether but only locally. The password that is being asked for when you attempt to log it is the admin password. If still set to default that is admin.
Regrettably i do not have an answer for you. This channel is managed by the US team and that product is not sold here. We do not have any information on it. You can contact our global support team @ support@tp-link.com to get functional information on the MR6400
@@Shivraj.Parmar1 the one in the video at least here in the US is an end of life product and its not a nano router, its full size. In most instances if the router is compatible with tether and most of our new routers are it should work through the app which is specially designed for mobile and tablets. If you do not use the app you can also use the web url tplinkwifi.net which is also mobile friendly. So sort answer is it should be.
Your router needs to be compatible and linked to your TP-Link ID. If it does not have this feature you cannot connect remotely via this process. If it does and you are having issues please contact support.
This is a feature in the app to access the router's interface remotely. What you are looking for is VPN. If your router has VPN Server feature you can set that up and then use OpenVPNs app to link your device to your routers internet from a remote location.
