How to activate oil level gauge Audi MMI 3G (A1 A4 A5 A6 A7 A8 Q3 Q5 Q7)

Activate engine oil level gauge on MMI 3G display in our Audi car (A1, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q3, Q5 or Q7). Check oil level without opening the hood.
This can be done in all Audi cars with Multi Media Interface 3G system. Oil level sensor is also required, which is not available in all engines.
You don't need tools like VCDS to activate this feature. Procedure is done in hidden green menu alone.

if I set it to 5 will it show my true oil level? Mine is showing that its empty but car is fine.

it doesn't work on my car. I waited as it writes for about 2 minutes and it showed nothing and nothing happened. I followed the entire procedure. other things were added. Audi a6 c6 Allroad 2010 2.7tdi

Hello, I have an Audi A5 2012 model, it sparks to see oil spring after starting the car for five minutes, and if you test it, it turns off. Please advice, because it tired me. I changed the oil tank three times, and it was of no use. Thank you

i assume if new option shows grey it has no extra sensors except the typical oil level sensor ?

i activated oil level , and allways appears message " oil display message appears after apro. 2 min. ignition on. engine must be warm . power engine must be off i waitt more then 4 min and still the message is on display. what its wrong ? thanks

+mr-fix I think it has. I know that some time ago was lit in control board that signals low oil level. audi a6 year 2011 4F / 4F2 2.0 TDI code CaHA

I have the same problem. My Audi is 2008 but restyling version 3.0 TDI Quattro full version. So, the same message available in two minutes atc.

hello I need HELP! How can a revert or go back to something. I think I touch something by mistake and I can not see the Back Camera on my Audi Q7. Did you have idea where I can check or what I have to see on the green menu? I will appreciate any help. I don't have cables or vcdd to access, I just enable the green menu.

i have a 2009 audi a4 quattro and i keep presing them at the same time... and no green or any other color hidden menu... mgs me back... my engine code Is CAEB And The Only Diference is the my buttoms are in the radio and no up top on cup holder...

if your buttons are next to the climate control and not next to the gear lever than you don't have MMI but (most likely) Audi Concert.

I replaced my mi system from 2010 to a 2013 unit (which I think is a 2.0T) do I need to change any of those settings? Thanks :)

You should make sure that the new unit is coded correctly. Coding depends on optional equipment and configuration of your car.

Maybe it's possible with hidden menu but it will be much quicker with VCDS.

Are you sure you have MMI 3G (not 2G, not RMC, not Audi Concert...)? Did you enabled the hidden menu first with diagnostic interface?

I have the problem of no bar in the oil level display (it's empty even though oil is topped up max). So what does selecting 5 do in this procedure? Does this assume or trick the system to display it is half full oil level? What if the oil is at max level? Not tried this yet but thanks for the tip.

+Rob Cram "selecting 5" is just a settings for the menu to let MMI know when the option is available (always, with engine on, while stationary, while in move...). This has nothing to do with displayed value. Check if your oil sensor is OK.

+mr-fix Oil sensor was recently replaced. I think the car has the hood micro-switch problem as well as the top up warning comes on and then rectifies when opening the hood and closing it. Anyhow. I tried your method but sadly I don't think the hidden menu has been activated. I will need to get someone with the cable to do this. Thanks for your assistance though.

i have had that problem. my audi consumes around 1 ounce of oil each 40 miles of driving. bought a real dipstick and tracked oil level wrt the odometer. the oil light never went on when the oil level showed empty on the mmi and only covered 1/2" on the dipstick. so i topped it up with 32 ounces of oil so as not to risk damage. how low in oil (ounces) does the engine have to be to trigger the low oil warning light??????????????? after 3 trips the mmi FINALLY showed max full.

when i changed the oil before a week there was i sensor on the oil pan, but i`m not sure if is level sensor. i have vcds can i check with it if the sensor exist.

Those are the conditions at which oil level is available (ignition on/off, engine on/off, car stationary/moving...). % is the recommended setting for this function.
