A tip for doing harmonies; Get a basic VST (an electric piano will do) click in the notes that you're trying to sing into MIDI, and mute or lower the volume of your main vocal. Then all you have to do is match the pitch of the piano. (If muting the main vocal makes you mess up the timing try to make the MIDI notes line up as perfectly with the main)
the purpose of panning is to create depth in a vocal mix, not an issue with clashing. there is nothing wrong with centering as many vocal takes as you want. clashing is an issue with unique elements in a song, like a vocal, a lead synth and a guitar which are meant to be percieved differently by the listener in the context of a mix. adding extra layers to a vocal is like adding voices to a synth. a saw wave chord doesnt become muddy because the 3 oscillators and 8 voices are "competing and clashing" think of your main vocal and your harmonies as chords being played by a synth. you wouldn't worry about the individual notes being played clashing with each other. i would not recommend the haas effect stereo separator method, as leaving a delay time thats too short will create phase issues, and a delay time that's long enough to avoid phase issues will create a noticable imbalance in timing between the left and right that could be offputting. typically this effect works better for longer ambiant sounds that don't really care about precise timing the way a vocal does. i'm not making a dig on your advice, it's ceftainly helpful and won't hurt anybody, but just wanted to clarify that you're telling people to avoid doing something which won't hurt their mix at all and is wrong from an engineering perspective
Sound engineer grad you are spot on. But like they tell us in school music(sonically) is ruined for us. So things that may stand out to us may not for the average listener. not to discredit anything you said. Im just saying why this commend could be overlooked.
ima be honest if u have 2 vocals and they arent the same thing u do wanna pan them if they have auto tune. otherwise they will can clash n it’ll sound bad.
you a real for this. i learnt everything that you doing as ai started making music and didnt have choir background or any music backgroud had to isten to song and figure out from what i was hearing. good that you helpinng others with what you know

@@salt4821YK WHATS CRAZY im recording rn and was looking for this vid and i randomly saw my own comment THEN SAW URS AND WAS LIKE “i never saw this reply?” THEN I SEEN U COMMENTED 7 MINS AGO
I have been making music for over a year now and have watched minimum 100 hours of tutorials. I know how to almost perfectly use FL studio... yet I am learning so much from this video alone. Never once thought of using a vocal pad that way, I would just do ambient oohs and ahhs, When panning, I always did normal pan rather than stereo shaper. Didn't even occur how much of space stereo shaper would fill but in a way where it doesn't clash. When doing harmonies, I always thought of it as doing same melody but an octave higher or lower. Totally understand the brain mess up with memorizing the leads. This is truly amazing
@@vinceisproducing2002it’s real asl I’ve been watching tutorials for years on pretty much anything you can think of on mastering and mixing and there still always been hella new tricks and tips to learn ❤
See my problem is I don’t use too many plugins I have a really good fucking laptop and after recording sometimes my cpu is going crazy and I’ve done as much as I can to lower it, it just slows me down so much to the point it gets hard to even record any harmonies or layers
I have a question: I made the 1st insert my recording one (with auto-tune), and I connected that 1 to my main vocal, which is insert 2. If I now disconnect the first insert from the main vocal one and attach it to the ads, then you will hear the same recording with the ads preset... I was watching your video, and I got so confused about how your main vocals are still with auto-tune and their presets even though you recorded them with the 1st insert and then disconnected that insert and connected it to the ads one? I am sorry if I couldn't explain it very well, but could someone help?
you just slice, then copy & paste the part you want to repeat/"stutter" right before the line (on beat). i usually also lower the volume a little bit on the stutter, but that's jus preference
BRO IF YOU SEE THIS, CAN YOU HELP ME WITH THE HISSING NOISES I HAVE WITH MY AT2020 CONDENSER MIC? I DON'T KNOW WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM I MEAN EVEN WITHOUT FANS, IT STILL PICKS UP NOISES. IM USING BEHRINGER UM2 FOR MY INTERFACE. THANKS IN ADVANCE BRO
ay bro i have the same mic. pull up the control panel if you’re using windows, go on sounds, go to recording and press on your mic then turn down the gain. that’s it
yo, how can I make it so vocals don't clash whenever I have one take that starts right when another one finishes (so you hear 2 vocals for a few secs). idk if it makes sense its kinda hard to explain
