To answer question around 30min mark about knowing if you could know what hand solver holds: That's the point of solvers. To play perfectly balanced game with range of hands that contains both value hands and bluffs in portition to pot odds. So it's impossible to know what they hold and exploit. With perfect play you can only achieve breakeven result against them. And because no human plays to even close to perfection makes it impossible to beat solvers.

I've made the choice to build a bankroll and give up the kitchen life and become a poker player. I've been studying and watching videos trying to learn about the game and the life for about 6 months and this is one of the best, most informative hours I've spent during that time. Thank you very much

poker is not solved, game theory optimal just tells you what is the optimal play to do long term!

That's what 'solved' means. Poker is inherently a game of limited information. What does 'solved' mean to you? EDIT: let me add I think it is only solved for heads-up pots, not multiway, but I'm not sure about that.

I kind of get what both of you are saying. Chess is not technically a solved game yet either. I can't explain it, but I've heard Hikaru talk about it and pretended to understand it.

@@thejoebegs yes we basically run a bunch of sims and figure out what optimal play looks like. Contra casolo though, telling players the right long-term play *is* what it means for poker to be solved! There is never going to be something that says, "when you have AKs on this particular flop, you should ALWAYS do X". Everything is at a particular frequency to achieve equilibrium.
