Great job April! Last year I was adding an outlet in my kitchen to a wall that didn't have an outlet. I decided to add a pop-up outlet just like that under my dining room table. When you need it, it's EXTREMELY handy! And a clean look too! Well done! Get R done!

This was great to see April. My wife and I have wanted to put an outlet in our kitchen floor by an island counter that we bought several years ago. I think seeing this video just gave me the much needed motivation to finally get going on that project.

Sheathed cable IS permitted to be run exposed on surfaces or inside cabinets, etc. If subject to direct physical damage then it requires supplemental protection. The term "subject to physical damage" is not defined by the NEC so it becomes an interpretative issue. Exposed cable is very common in this scenario.
@brianpimental2948
@brianpimental2948 2 года назад
The cable is susceptible to damage. Also when you add to an existing circuit it needs to be Arcfault protected. I do like the creative aspects.
@keithlmayersjr3669
@keithlmayersjr3669 2 года назад
mc cable is what u use, you putting anything in the cabinet subjects it too damage. 2nd you cant run a liv room plug or anything off the 2 required small appliance circuits in the kitchen. if were being legal and what not.

@@keithlmayersjr3669 Yep. Had the same reaction. She honestly did a great job with the installation. If only she had an electrician friend to recommend the MC cable and steer her toward acquiring the circuit from anything other than the required dedicated circuits of a dwelling unit.

Hi April. When you build the cabinet for the turntable you should find a way to isolate the table from the vibration that the speakers cause. That vibration can mess up the playback / damage your records from a bouncing stylus.

use hockey pucks to lift/isolate the turntable away from the table top/shelf

Couple things. Not sure about the NEC, but in Canada, kitchen outlets are intended only for kitchens. The other using a reciprocating saw to cut through the subfloor isn't a good idea, as plumbers can run pex pipe anywhere, and you won't feel it if cutting through it.

I have found the easiest way for me to run a line anywhere that there is enough room in a hollow wall or in the subfloor is with a vacume cleaner to guide a delicate string from one hole to the next and then use the string to pull your main line.

Also, the receptacle you used is 20a (which is fine if you’re running this from a 20a breaker, but NOT ok if running from a 15a breaker, for those who might be thinking about picking one of those up for their home!)
