Thanks Laurence for another very useful video. I would have thought dropping the bees into the empty hive might have bee easier & then putting the frames in on top to let them climb up as this is their normal habit as you said while they were in the box. A great tip about standing with a branch afterwards to collect the remaining flying bees. I left my van with the hive inplace all day waiting for the final bees to collect in the new hive!! That would have freed my van up so much sooner if I'd known. Top tip :-)
You can do. I treat in late summer regardless of the mite count. Some dont like that but I dont have the time to monitor and treat only the ones that need it. So i just treat them all in late summer and Winter
@@BlackMountainHoney thanks for your info,I am kinda new at this ,last hives I had was 30 years ago ,Varroa wasn't to be seen at that time ,I am now retired and thought I would give it another go, I have watch many of you guys on Utub and have learned more than I ever knew before, but sometimes we need a little assurance that we are doing the right thing, also wondering how close an eye I have to keep on the for swarming the first year since I had to start from just frames, no drawn out wax

I cant wait to get one of these hives , i will 100% purchase my bees from you when i am ready :-) .
