How To Add Contacts On WhatsApp - iPhone and Android

There is no new contact button anymore in iOS. No pencil icon either.

I just upgraded the WhatsApp app and they did ask me if I wanted to connect my contacts to the app I said no but now I notice oh the messages that I get don’t have a name attached to them. How do I get WhatsApp to show all the contact information from anyone who’s texted me like before without doing it one by one individually.

I’m confused about how to add contact. I already started chatting with some of my phone contacts in WhatsApp but how do I save them as a contact? So that I could check their status etc ?

Doesn't work on my iPhone X. The person is on my phone list but not what app contact list and they do use WhatsApp

How do I get a speed dial in my contact book on apple device, where i from there can call or send a WA message ? Just next to the normal sms ?

The directions do NOT conform to what can be done on an Android. - ie there is no DONE button etc..
