Agreed. I have a deep excitement for learning new things. I project that onto others. I share what I learned because I cannot experience that feeling of initial understanding when I learn something. However, I can experience it vicariously through others when they learn it for the first time. Some people take my sharing of what I know as a sign of arrogance in what I know. That’s their loss. I ALWAYS look to learn from others, especially from people like Leila because the genuinely seem to want to spread their love of knowledge and wisdom for others. I hope that I am not the smartest person in the room because I have less chance to learn if I am. If I am the “smartest” in the room, then I am motivated to share. If I am not the “smartest” in the room, then I am motivated to learn. If you study neuroscience, you find the same pattern in neurons. Their purpose is to receive signals, processes those signals, and send a summary to other neurons. They NEED to receive AND transmit to serve their purpose. They need to serve their purpose to receive nourishment. I am a neuron. I need to learn AND teach to serve my purpose. I live to serve, and I serve to live.
Hi Leila, I’ve noticed that in Excel 365 that if you want to copy and paste what is now called a “note” that after you copy and try to paste special, the only option you see is “comments” - thankfully it works whether you are trying to copy & paste either a comment or a note. Great video as always!
Nice video Leila. The only problem I have with comments is that they don't quite move with the cell say in case you happen to filter a specific set of cells in a table. And when you want to see the comments for those cells they all seem to be floating in the original place where the comment was first created. Hopefully you understand what I'm trying to explain. That's why I've been using the validation message option as of lately, but the draw back here is that unlike comments you don't quickly notice that that cell has a comment (i.e. the red arrow in the corner of the cells).
Great work Leila. Every time I watch your videos, these is something new to learn even if the subject is well known to me. Thank you, please continue to upload new videos
4:17 I love the idea of using icons as the border. It makes the notes more interesting related to the project. I’m always looking to take my excel spreadsheets to the next level.
Very easy to follow especially for foreigners like me whose English listening ability is not as good as natives. Thank you very much for uploading these useful videos. Your videos save my work and time. Please continue adding more videos. Loved it!
Hi Leila. I have to say by far you are my favorite person to learn new skills and take my excel projects to the next level. I really like the way you communicate and visually present the information in a clear and concise manner. Very easy to follow. I’m creating my next project and adding so many of your tips from your various videos. I can’t wait to show my co-workers everything I’ve done with it. I’m definitely going to recommend they subscribe and watch your channel so they too can EXCEL at it! 😊
Didn't know there was a shortcut to open comments (Notes). Needed the refresher about printing & formatting. - Looks like Microsoft finally added one of Google Sheets features instead of the other way around. Leila, thanks for keeping it concise!
I'll just start doing this and not telling people how so they get confused. It's a great way to mess with people. That and formatting a cell to read "[supervisor] is a [random teasing insult]" whenever a negative value is entered. Makes for a good laugh.
Thank you Leila! Talk about geeky though... copy an icon in Powerpoint, save it as a picture, just so you can have a 'fancy' comment! LOL You go, girl! I cannot use it on my work product but I can play with it on my home system! I remember years ago that I would create icons for use in letterheads and Powerpoint presentations I made ... my PPT presentations were definitely a cut above all the ones put out by the company and other coworkers. I used to be frustrated when people would not adapt presentations of Charts and especially spreadsheets for an audience... TOO small to be read from the back for sure! Ha ha. I enjoy your content very much. Your delivery is excellent. You are also nice on the eyes... not as nice as my wife but hey, that's why I married her! LOL
Hi Leila.. thanks for your comments on comments.. haha!! As always, an excellent and complete tutorial. Thanks also for showing how to get pictures into comments which is buried in the options and so not so obvious how to set up. Thumbs up!
Some nice neet ways to present your comments. One problem that I run into often is comments in Pivot tables. My work around on this is to post the comments in the data set however that doesn't allow for comments on subtotals or groups. If you are able to share any tips in this regard that would be great. The simply comments in fixed cells doesn't really cut it when using dynamic repots such as pivot tables.
Absolutely amazing ... I was aware of inserting comments.... honestly not the way you have done ... I'll definitely put this into use .... Thanks a lot
Love this! Idea: Demonstrate how to automatically stamp comments with user name, date, and time. This is critical to my work in a multi-user environment. Your followers who work collaboratively in multi-user environments will love it - I know I do!
Great vid as always Leila. Is there anyway to move the placement of the comment? I have comments in a far right cell but want them to show up in the middle of the screen. Anyway to do this? everything i try pops them up right of the cell their linked to
I’m new to excel and your Chanel but I am wondering if there is a way to search comments / notes if I was looking for a specific one? I love the Chanel and thank you for doing these videos!
Great video! Learned a few things. Thanks for that! When I have to paste several texts into comments I usually use the Office Clipboard. First I copy a bunch of them from the source and then paste thems in the cells comments. Just a small tip.
Hello Leila I'm a bit novice with Excel but I do enjoy learning it. Soon In your video I was hoping for an instruction on how to insert a photo in notes of Excel. The reason I want to do this is I want to get away from inserting a photo in a cell as this is very fiddle to do and messy. I use a membership Microsoft so my software is the latest version It would be so great to tidy up the sheet. I help my missus with her fishing permits in keeping a log of all IDs of fisherman and is very handy to have photo ID for the river watchers (River police). Rules in Scotland are somewhat different. Id this possible to insert photo in a excel notes comment.
