Black Light Glaze: The Overlooked Secret to Shine!
Glaze is important for all cars and all colors of paint, not just black or dark colored cars. Be sure to check out the variety of glazes available on the Chemical Guys website, including specially formulated glazes for white cars, and another for metallic paint. After watching this step-by-step instructional video and choosing the right Chemical Guys glaze for your car, give it a try yourself and unlock your paint's inner shine!
Black Light glaze doesn't have to just be used after polishing and before coating a car. It is also a great product for cars that have only minor scratches and don't yet require a full polish. Black Light is perfect for new cars, recently polished cars, and paintwork that has just light scratching and swirling.
Waxing a car is one of the most crucial steps when detailing a car. Wax makes a car look shinier and prettier, but also helps seal and protect the paint from contamination, pollution, dirt, dust, water, and more. Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax is a premium all-natural carnauba cream wax that provides great protection and shine on any color paintwork.

Love your videos guys, but can you please do a video on cleaning these pads afterwards? When I use black light or jet seal and I squeeze my pad, a lot of product comes out of the pores of the pad. Is this normal? Can you show us how you clean your pads after apply a glaze/wax/sealant?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 лет назад
Hey Kyle, it sounds like you might be using too much product. Remember, all it takes is 3 - 5 drops onto your pad (see instructions on each product for exact number and use lower number). All you need is a light layer of product. A little goes a long way! If are using the 3 -5 drops of product and still have excess, then it means you might be reapplying the product too soon. Expand the area you are working on until a thin layer is achieved. You can clean these pads as you would any other pad. I will leave a couple of links below to show you how in case you forgot. Thanks for watching, Kyle, and happy detailing! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-B01zu7wuGA0.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ht7ZlR1ZA54.html

Love the example with the donut 😂😂😂😂😂😂...quick question how would you go about clean the overhead lining inside the car.
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 лет назад
Hey, while there are ways to clean your headliner, we generally do not recommend at home detailers attempt to clean it themselves. They are very sensitive to moisture, and any fluids can seep into the fabric, loosen it from the foam, and then over time you get fabric hanging from the headliner. An experienced detailer can use Lightning Fast and proceed at their own risk. The experienced detailer would dilute Lightning Fast according to the directions on the bottle, spray onto a clean microfiber towel, and lightly brush across the stain. Do your best not to saturate the fabric! Once you're satisfied, blot the area dry with a clean microfiber towel, and let air dry. Thanks again for watching, and we'll see ya tomorrow! 👍

Ok, like an idiot I used a foam brush and old bucket to wash a month old Acura, black paint, and unfortunately now I can see how what I did lightly scratched the surface. Unbelievable. I didn't know any better. I'm new to the self-detailing process. I came across your videos this morning -- best on the web IMO for this kind of specialized rehab activity. I've downloaded your flow chart. I'm ready to buy what I need to take the car's finish back to factory (I hope at least). I'm just a bit confused as to which product(s) I should use for my particular situation. Several of your videos related to black paint use different compound and polishers. Is there a definitive answer you can recommend for me? Ideally I'd like to get rid of those swirl and light scratches and then "coat?" the surface with something to protect it moving forward. Also, would you recommend, in general, that people like me buy a rotary polisher just to have on hand to use as needed (or maybe as a necessary tool for adequate maintenance). I'm in the Northeast US, garaged but still have to deal with our winters, etc. Thanks in advance. GS
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 лет назад
Hey Gregory! Welcome to the Chemical Guys family, thanks for checking out the video. To remove scratches and swirls machine polishing is the most effective solution. I recommend using a Dual-Action(DA) to safely restore shine using an Orange Hex-Logic Pad and V36 Cutting Polish. Refine the finish further with a White Hex-Logic Pad and V38 Final Polish. Apply a coat of Black Light Glaze to mask minor imperfections while enhancing shine. Finish with a layer of Butter Wet Wax to lock in shine while repelling the elements. - Happy detailing! - CG Nick

Is there any Benefits or concerns with applying jet seal between the black light and butter wet wax layers?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 лет назад
Hi! Yes, there are big benefits to applying JetSeal in-between Black Light and BWW. JetSeal will provide unparalleled protection that no glaze nor wax can match. JetSeal can provide durable protection against the elements for up to one whole year, while Black Light and BWW can last maybe up to half that. Black Light and BWW do offer benefits that JetSeal cannot, though. Together, they will offer that deep wet shine that JetSeal cannot provide. Generally, sealants offer better protection, while waxes offer better gloss and reflection. That's why we recommend applying all three for best results. Check out the detailing flow chart below to see all the steps to a full detail in their proper order. Great video. Quick question: When using Butter Wet Wax, how many washes will it last for? 2 or 3? Longer? A couple of months? What are the guidelines?... Thx!
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 лет назад
Hey Dean, how's it going? If you wash your car using a premium pH balanced soap, then BWW will last you more than a couple of washes. It could last you up to 4 months! All CG soaps except for Clean Slate and Citrus Wash are pH balanced, so if you don't have one already, pick up one today and help your wax coat last its longest! You can even use a car wash soap that contains wax to enhance your coat of BWW. Check it out below. Thanks for watching, Dean, really glad to have you part of the CG family. www.chemicalguys.com/Extreme_Body_Wash_Wax_Car_Wash_16_oz_p/cws20716.htm

Chemical Guys Dang! I just bought a big jug of Citrus Wash & Gloss. Love that soap but no big deal - I’m sure my wax job will still last a month or two.
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 лет назад
It's ok... even though Citrus Wash isn't pH balanced, it still won't strip the wax as long as you don't use it in high concentration. Make sure to use only 1 - 3 oz of the soap into your foam gun, cannon, or 5 gallon bucket to wash your car and you'll be safe! Using the soap in higher concentration, such as 5oz, will strip that wax coat!

Chemical Guys it turned out to be better. It's got a good and smooth shine. However, the swirls are noticeable. Gonna have to take into consideration for a torq.
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 лет назад
Hey Jesse, the only thing that's going to remove those scratches and swirls is by polishing them out. If you just applied wax and a quick detail spray, then you will get that nice shine like you got, but it will do little to cover those scratches and swirls. Some waxes may have minor filling properties, but to get noticeable improvement and that deep wet mirror finish, we suggest performing a full detail including polishing and glazing your car. Let us know if you have any further questions about what full detail entails! Check out the detail flow chart below to see all the steps to a full detail in their proper order and make sure to check back later today for a new video upload!

How is this in comparison to butter wet wax? I’m still a little confused on how’s waxing on top of the glaze doesn’t take off the glaze coat.
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 лет назад
Hi! It's not a great idea to compare these two products as they do two totally different things. Glazes fill in minor scratches and swirls and lightly cleanse the paintwork to help create a smooth surface. Glazes have minor to no protective properties. Depending on the wax, some may fill in minor scratches and swirls, but nowhere near as well as glazes, which are dedicated to that purpose. Waxes have the natural protective properties of Carnauba, as well as amazing water beading properties that glazes do not offer. Applying a wax on top of the glaze is safe because you are not removing anything. You are simply adding a layer on top. For best results, we recommend applying a glaze and wax. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more videos headed your way soon!
@DJRanoia
@DJRanoia 6 лет назад
Chemical Guys that helps thanks! I guess it really is all about the layers there more shinier. Will be adding to my butter wet wax.
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 лет назад
Yep! Waxes and sealants don't have any abrasives properties, so they simply glide over the glaze you already applied without removing it. Similarly, the microfiber pad or black applicator that you use to apply a sealant or wax does not have any cut, ensuring that your coat of glaze doesn't go anywhere!

Hi Jax, yes, you only want to apply Black Light to a squeaky clean car. We also recommend making sure your car is fully decontaminated before applying a glaze for best results. Thanks for watching, Jax, and make sure to check back later today for new video upload!

Do I need to add pad conditioner when using black light glaze with a torqx?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys Год назад
Hi Victor! It is not necessary to add Pad Conditioner when applying glaze, sealant and wax since the machine should only be used on the lowest speed setting.

@Chemical Guys thanks, btw, I've been thinking about using black luminous glow infusion wax. But how and when should I use it? Should I use black light glaze, then black luminous glow infusion wax, JetSeal, and last Bana wax? Is this order correct? Do I need to clay my car when I used black light glaze? Thanks.

What glaze would be best for black/metallic paint?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 лет назад
Hi Jason! Good question. We recommend Black Light Hybrid Radiant Finish for any dark color cars. Black Light gives any black finish a deep, lustrous, wet mirror shine. If left untreated, black paintwork fades, discolors, and oxidizes. Black Light is one product that protects and enhances black paintwork to keep it as pure and black with a mysterious glowing reflection. Thanks for watching and thanks for being part of the Chemical Guys family! Check link below. www.chemicalguys.com/Black_Light_Hybrid_Radiant_Finish_16_oz_p/gap_619_16.htm

I’f I’m doing this by hand how do I know it’s evenly spread out ?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys Год назад
Perform multiple passes using a cross-hatch pattern. Start with up and down directions only, covering 50% of each previous motion, then hit the same area going left and right again covering 50% of the last pass. That should ensure you've covered it evenly!

My truck is black. It has minor Swirls and scratches that I plan on using v36 then V 38. I also have blacklight glaze that I was going to put on. Do I really need to put the glaze on after I have already polished it? Since the Polish will fill in the Swirls and scratches is the glaze just being a little redundant? I then will use jet seal(best sealant out there) then butter wax. Without spending $70 for the black wax what other wax would be good to give me a nice wet look on the truck? the butter wax is good but I want something with a little more shine as well as protectant
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 лет назад
Hey Jason, that's a great question. Glazes can fill in minor scratches and swirls that you weren't able to polish out, or you missed, so we still recommend applying. However, glazes are not mandatory as they do not offer a significant level of protection compared to something like JetSeal, so it's totally up to you. Paste waxes are generally going to last longer than a cream wax, so we recommend trying out Pete's 53 or even XXX. Both are going to give you that nice wet look, and offer a little more durability than BWW, all while offering great value. Thanks again for watching Jason, and, happy detailing! www.chemicalguys.com/Pete_s_53_Carnauba_Paste_Wax_8_oz_p/wac_300.htm www.chemicalguys.com/XXX_Hardcore_Carnauba_Paste_Wax_8_oz_p/wac_301.htm

Hi Jeff, great question. Yes, the proper order of operations is BWW after Black Light. You can even throw on a sealant in between if you so desire. Hey Kenny, how's it going? The second one is correct: Black Light, JetSeal, then BWW. Although different videos may use different products, the order of glaze, sealant, then wax is always the same. We always abide by the detailing flow chart, which you can see below.
