Well done vid. I like the way you showed the system out of the tub. Having the full perspective of how a system works gives a much better understanding of how to fix it. I had the opposite problem with essentially the same solution except I had to raise the stop because it was barely draining the tub 👍🏽
Hi, friend. My water is backed up. We bail out the tub after a shower :/ I can pull that plunger/stopper assembly completely out and the water doesn’t move. Clog? I’m so lost on this, I miss my dad, man.
Yes. It definitely sounds like a clog to me. Before you pay a plumber, you might try a tool like this from Amazon, or somewhere. If it’s just a bunch of hair, this might fix it. www.google.com/search?q=tools+to+unclog+sink+drain&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari#piu=ps:8&oshopproduct=gid:16885628361108848984,mid:576462729250207347,oid:10467071303331691270,iid:6403034197713430907,rds:UENfMTY4ODU2MjgzNjExMDg4NDg5ODR8UFJPRF9QQ18xNjg4NTYyODM2MTEwODg0ODk4NA%3D%3D,pvt:hg&oshop=apv&pvs=0
If it's draining slow or the sink is draining slow...it could be the vent stack is clogged as well. It could have leaves or some other debris in it. I either snaked it out from the roof or ran some water down from a hose. Just make sure the water isn't making a mess in the house. You'll need a spotter. You can get better instructions by searching on RU-vid for cleaning a vent stack. pipe.
There is a spring on the lever mechanism that is designed to hold the lever in place whether it’s in the up or down position. If the lever will not stay down, then it seems that the spring is probably bad. As far as I know, the spring cannot be replaced but you will probably just need to buy a whole new trip lever mechanism. Should cost around $20.
You’re very observant. Yes, I explicitly say I’m going to show you how a tub stopper works on this plastic drain set up so you can see what’s happening. Then I show you on my brass set up from my own bathtub. I appreciate you watching.
