If you have tightened both and its not doing anything to slow the door then there is no fluid in the unit. Would be cheaper to replace the whole thing.
hello ok thank you-- however i doubt our building owner will change it--but i will ask because the door slams so much it tremors--when i was tighten it before it seemed to improved and slow it down but now nothing in fact its getting worse --Lisa
2nd reply In case the ownership doesn't fix or replace the door closer is there something else to do to stop or reduce the door slamming? Thank you Lisa
@@pjmclenon if you have tightened both screws in and its doing nothing then yeah fluid has gone/ leaked out. I have no idea where this door closer is but if in a hallway of an apartment block etc id be wrong to tell you to mess with it as it could stop the fire door from shutting (which its doing now) and could cause a spread of fire. Best of explaining to landlord about it and hopefully he will replace it and set it up so it doesnt slam.
