The single most useful thing on youtube. Spent an hour trying to fix it, and almost broke some stuff. After watching this, needed 5 minutes and works like a charm.
I just watched 4 terrible un-instructional videos on how to do this, and then filtered my search results by rating to find the most popular. Wow, this one is great, lots of close-up shots, and clearly detailed instructions. Many thanks on the excellent video and for the help on how to adjust my derailleur!! Bill
This is one of the best explanations on youtube - it identifies the parts and then goes through the common issues and walks through the adjustments. And the most realistic comment is that adjusting the front derailleur is a "trial and error" exercise requiring time and patience." Those limit screws don't look like they do anything much but they make some telling micro adjustments...it's almost black magic when it eventually comes together and works. Perfect explanation. I looked at some other video's which took forever. Here I just paused at each step and my front derailleur is adjusted perfectly. Many thanks. I have never had it working so perfectly.
Now this video is clear and concise. I'm from England but I can still understand the guy clearly. He explains in a matter-of-fact way and unlike other vids he explains what the different parts are and their functions. I'm a complete novice but I feel confident to 'have a bash' at this. As we say in England. Good stuff!!

Ive adjusted the gears sooo many times...once you do it they stay set...so when I bought a new bike today I just needed a refresher...which screw is which....nice demonstrating! Very helpful.
I've watched several "front mech adjustment" vids and this is the best and most concise. I had real trouble shifting from large to middle, until I changed the tilt/angle of the cage - never thought to do this, because it had never been altered. Don't get caught out. The 3 areas Mike highlights are all as important as each other. I've ended with an unusual (?) solution shifting down the gears, with 3 movements, not 2. It takes 2 gentle clicks to move from large to middle.
Seriously, Everything he said about this being difficult and requires patience and practice is spot on. I spent 2 hours trying to get my derailleur to work.
Ive had my bike for years and never gave it any maintenance. Ive always wondered why it wouldnt shift to higher gears on the front. Ill have to set some time to fix my bike up...and clean it. Thanks for this video!

Amazing video Mike, You do and excellent job at teaching and the video was very clear and nice. You should really do more of these. Preferably how to replace bike cable wires, bleed disc brakes and tune front and back shocks. !! pretty please.......
I just spent an hour on the ground right side up bike, your spot on it's hard is shit thanks a lot for this vid it cut a bunch of time and aggravation off the task and had me doing wheelies again
