One of the most common and frequent problems of disc brakes, namely when the pads crawl on the disc. The friction caused does not make the wheel turn well and sometimes causes an annoying noise.
This method applies to both the front and rear brakes
The gripper is normally equipped with 2 screws. By loosening the two screws, the caliper will be floating and can be moved both right and left. To loosen the screws you need just a simple Allen key, normally 5mm,
At this point, give a pinch to the brake and close the screws, release the brake and check that the disc does not make noise and that the wheel runs freely
If there is still noise, we must inspect the clamp from the slot on the clamp.
This normal hole is used to inspect the state of wear of the pads. In this case, however, we can check the space between the disc and the pads
We loosen the screws again and center the caliper visually, trying to have the disc perfectly in the center of the pads
Re-tighten the screws, turn the wheel and in the case of new friction loosen maybe one single screw front or rear until the wheel turns without friction
Give a few clamps to the brake to check that everything is working correctly and the centering of the disc brake caliper of the mountain bike is done.
If the problem is not solved with these methods, it could be
that your disc is crooked, in which case you could try straightening and replacing it
Disc screws are not tightened properly
the Hub has play and makes the wheel move
The pistons are dirty and do not fit back in place
