I just want to say… you saved my grandfathers golf cart he passed down to me and I’ve been watching your videos ever since. I hope RU-vid has rewarded you in some sort of way, I will be clicking the like in every video tho 🙂 thanking you for your videos kindly.
I have a 2019 Yamaha Adventurer 2+2 with EFi. I used this adjustment method. When I got the cart it did like 16-17mph even though it’s only supposed to go 14 mph. I adjusted mine so that about 1 1/4” of thread is showing and now it’s does 21 mph which I feel is fast enough. Now I don’t need to go full throttle everywhere and when I need more speed it’s there for me. There were no adverse affects to the cart with this adjustment so far.
Thank you for your help.I discovered that the acceleration cable from pedal to governor was broken and the carburetor was not opening.I replace the cable and engine starts .
Barry, I have a Yamaha with this type of governor. The cart starts fine, however, when the RPMs come up the governor will engage and shuts the throttle off. The engine will cycle from a rev to a almost stop. If I use my hand and hold the governor in one position it will fun fine. Any thoughts?
thank you for posting this video. i am a mechanic at our local golf course and have 4 adventurer golf carts. 1 of which seems the employee adjusted it to go faster....was wondering why the back fire as well as wet airr filter and it puffing smoke. its a 2010 adventurer 2. now i can slow it back down and perhaps rig it where he can no longer self adjust.
+debra moore When the governor is adjusted to where the engine turns more than 2650 (=/- 50) rpm's, then the cylinder will ignite the excess fuel left there when it stops. So, slow it back down to factory settings or at least close to it.
thanks for the video i have a 2017 quiet tech i did what u said it worked perfect but how do i know what to fast is mine is fuel injected so oil wont get in carb but maybe in EFI system and i dont want that to happen . stock it went 18 mph i adjusted it to 22mph but then backed it down to 20mph gps sometimes hit 21mph so i would be safe but dont get me wrong ill take all i can get without hurting it ...tks again
b27rampage yea all righty now that’s what I was about to ask! I’m looking at carts right now, finding out what to buy. I’m hesitant about electric carts cause the development I’m building in is huge, folks there say the HOA at one time a year ago only wanted electric, but the new quiet drive is so quiet, but even more importantly rides so much better due to the independent suspension! So much so my back issues with pain and mobility sort of forces me to go Yamaha gas quiet drive. So how has your been? Are they worth the extra money? I’ve owned Yamaha Motorcycels and guitars and feel they all have a high quality feel and service life. I knew the governor on the older carb carts were adjustable, but have not been able to look at one close enough and did not want to raise suspicion with the dealer! I bet that engine can take more rpm’s than ever you have to worry about. I liked to get mine up to 25 mph!
How do I increase speed on my 2015 Yamaha Fuel injected gasoline golf cart. It appears to be model name YDRANFI, Model Code JC2? Does it matter that its fuel injected? Or, do I adjust it the same as you show in this video for Yamaha G29 golf cart? Thanks.
Set mine to 1" as the video states. I did this shortly after i bought it. The speed is perfect for me but now it backfires after stopping and then starting again. Is this related to adjusting the governor or should I look at carb adjustments
I was occasionally getting small puffs of white smoke and oil fumes from my "g29"... The governor was adjusted pretty fast so I slowed it down a few turns... It sounds better & oil smell is much reduced, but now I get an occasional backfire when I coast to a stop... Any suggestions?? Cart does not consume or leak oil ... and otherwise runs great. ??
I am trying to understand this. so i have already cleaned my 2007 yahama ydra carburetor and the smell of gas has lessened. thank goodness!! now about this video which I searched.. so does this video help with umm the speed like for example. I have good speed but it felt like it was slowing down and when I floor it to go faster, it doesnt really go fast..it is like it is pushing back. this was like that before i even cleaned the carburetor. maybe you have another video for situations like that.

You mentioned adjusting the governor by bending the bracket. What does that look like? I've looked at mine and I'm not sure which bracket or how to bend it???????
Hi,in my case,I want to decrease the speed, but I tried to adjust it one side or another and dont do nothing, the speed still the same, how can I decrease the speed?,there is another way?,thanks for the video.
quaizers Sometimes people will bend the attached brackets. Unfortunately, your going to have to bend the brackets till you get the speed set where you want it. Allow about 1 1/2" of threaded rod to be exposed and start bending.
The problem im having is that it takes off too quick. It feels like it doesnt even have a 1st gear. Clutches are new. Would adjusting this make it a slower take off?
DIY Golf Cart Thanks for the quick reply both primary and secondary are new. And it looks like they shift like they suppose to. The gad pedal is super touchy at low speed. I barely tap it and it kicks you back to the seat every time. Any like idle adjustment or something? Even tho it doesn't really idle
Fernando Bruno I figured out my problem. I took the carburetor off and noticed that the butterfly had gotten stuck wide open. I used some needle nose players to bend it back, and it flicked into the proper position. It runs beautifully now...You might want to check the carb.
I have a 2013 Yamaha drive that goes about 13 to 14 MPH I would like to get my cart registered as a low speed vehicle. For this it needs to be 20 MPH, Is this possible to speed it up this much without doing damage to my engine? looking forward to your response.
i have 92 G9 what bore size on the some scatches engine going to rebuild may have it bored but do not to over bored it the piston on numbers so think oem dont take engine shop because they just what get money .u unstand busyness to days day
David D With the governor fully adjusted in, the golf car can reach.....UNSAFE SPEEDS!!! Once the car is running at top speed, the suspension becomes....lets say, unsettling! The golf car will not be able to turn corners and maintain a driver (or passenger)! This video is designed to help you reach 11 to 15 mph (ok, maybe just a little more) which is factory setting. Be Safe!
