You all prolly dont give a shit but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost my password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me.
People like you really help the little guy with their projects. I was given an OLD Ariens Fairway with a Tecumseh that hadn't run in more than 10 years. Your info was very clear and valuable. Hope it brings you lots of customers
I would like to give you a huge THANK YOU for taking the time to post this video. I just moved from 4000 feet to 7200 feet in altitude and there is a big snow storm set to hit tomorrow night and thanks to you my snowblower is running again. THANKS!
You can not believe how happy I was to find your videos. I inherited an old monster Craftsman Trac snowblower that hadn't been used in a few years and didn't even run right when it was. I spent the summer searching for information on it, starting with the manual, which is about as elusive as a unicorn. You're videos not only helped me fix some of the problems, but they taught me the actual names of the parts instead of having to refer to them as "that dewhickey thingy."
Your videos helped me a lot. I bought a used snowblower and with my limited knowledge was getting frustrated and was ready to bring it to the landfill. But after watching your videos I was able to disassemble and clean and fix the carburetor, and to adjust it. You did an amazing job, Dony, by sharing your knowledge with us. God bless you and your family!
Thanks to you I was able to get my Snow King going smoothly to clear the 13 inches of snow we had on Wednesday. Your explanation was perfect and easy to follow....THANK YOU!!
You are without a doubt the BEST mechanic on RU-vid. Excellent videos made for the everyday man. Very good graphics, excellent sound, and most of all you cover it all! Thanks for helping the rest of us!
Million Thanks. I followed your precise instructions and my 27 year old Sears Snowblower is still chugging along without ever visiting a shop. Thanks so much for posting your videos. You are doing us a big favour. Seasons Greetings to you and your family.
Donyboy73, just noticed this was published 8 years ago, and all credit to you that you actually still answer. Wonderful, clear instructions and great closeups. Many thanks. I have two vital things that won't start, and it is almost December, 2018. Murray Lawn Mower 6.5 hp Briggs and Straton (which I use without bag to chop 100 bags of leaves a year into tea leaves for flower beds. It worked perfectly for years, then recently trouble starting, won't start. Changed spark, new air filter...then gas came through the air filter. Think it is the carb so searching RU-vid. 10.5 Mastercraft snowblower 29 " Tecumseh also won't start. Will report back if I figure it out, but grateful for you excellent videos.
Thanks a lot Donyboy! I just got an old used Snapper 10HP, 30" the other day before the "big" storm hit NJ. It ran very rough and only with the choke on at first. But after watching your video, I was able to get the idle and full power operation to work just great.
I've seen quite a few of your videos and am always very happy with your organized and thorough explanations. Your speak and enunciate clearly, which helps because I don't question whether I misheard a term I haven't yet learned. Thanks!
Wow, thank you. I'd been searching for a couple of days for a Tecumseh manual so I could figure out how to tune it. I couldn't find anything until this video which is perfect. Thank you. Using a 20 year old engine and it is now running well.
Thank you very much for posting this video. I have a 1995 Troy Bilt with a Tecumseh engine. Which I haven't done much to it except change the oil the belts once and the spark plug and cutting edge once. Every spring I run it until it runs out before storage. The first time today of all times it would not fire up. I pulled the plug and it was fouled with fuel. So I figured the float was stuck and needed a little tickle. I did as you posted in the video. I turned the float adjustment in all the way out 1 1/2 turns out. Gave it a yank and she fired off on the first pull. I did a final adjustment and she is running like a champ. Of course the weathermen were wrong again. Suppose to picked up 2-4 inches and presently we have a foot and it's still snowing.
Very clear video, thank you. I have Tecumseh engines on my snowblower and my chipper/shredder. Your video provides a great deal of information, I now feel confident that I can properly adjust the carburetors on my equipment.
Donyboy you speak clearly and slow enough for me to understand how to fix my snowblower while working on it as well. As a female just learning how to fix things myself, I want to thank you for a great training you gave me on the belt tension as well as carburetor.
Thanks so much for posting this video as it gave me the courage to fix my 25 year old snow blower myself. I bought a new carburetor online for $40, the original one was pretty much a goner. Did the carb adjustment using this video and runs like new.
thank you for all of your excellent tutorials! I recently bought an old Ariens with a Tecumseh 7hp engine, and after watching your videos I can totally maintain it myself. Cheers!
Thanks! My first attempt at small engine repair and this, plus another video of yours was all needed to solve the problem. Appreciate the work that went into this teaching aid.
Great video how-to! Enabled me to tune my 18 year old Toro with the old style Tecumseh 10hp engine. The shute had been clogging in the heavy wet snow we've been having. Doesn't clog anymore!
awesome, followed all directions, and had my craftsman 5hp,22", Tecumseh engine running just right. wrote all steps down 1st, then followed... great resource, thank you
My old Simplicity 8hp snowblower was surging at high rpm's. Your advice for adjusting the screw under the bowl was perfect. I did take the carb apart and gave it a good cleaning just so I could feel like I contributed something. Thanks x 10 to the 6th.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! My Tecumseh Snow King decided to run like crap today(during a blizzard)... these adjustments made all the difference!
Just wanted to say thanks it also worked for a Tecumseh powered lawn mower. I had to clean the carb and get it back to running and this vid was an excellent resource.
Great video! Thank you for breaking down all the options to get this carb and engine to run smooth. I was able to pretty well get the carb / engine to purr in 15 mins.
My 88 year old dad just phoned me about his snowblower tecumseh hm100 engine not running right at full throttle. So this video will help us! With another of your video, via land phone, he was able to find the engine model number. Now we can start working remotely together. Thank you. February 2021
My husband bought an old tecumseh snow blower last year. It wasn't running that well this year. After watching your carb cleaning and adjusting videos - it now runs fine. He says 'thanks for the great videos!'
Awesome videos! Can't wait to get this old 87 craftsman snowblower running tomorrow. Gonna clean and readjust the carb according to your advice and should be up and running in no time. Thanks Again!
Thanks Donyboy73 for this video! My Ariens is running like a top now - idles smooth and I feel like I've got some power now when I throttle up to the rabbit!
Thanks a lot.. very clear explanation, I got a new carburetor for my Tecumseh and needed an explanation of the process to go through.. works great now.
I replaced my blown (con rod thru cylinder wall) adjustable jet 1996 Tecumseh 10HP Snow King with a new one that has the black plastic cap over the idle jet screw. As there was no spring on the idle jet screw, I suspected it, had been re-designed as a fixed jet, and after unclogging the jet I snugged it down just slightly more than finger-tight. Fired up, the motor runs great at full and idle. Your video was a great help, and snow is due tonight.
you are so much help for us, i needed your help again today. my machine is close to 40 yrs. old and i've been able to keep it going. big storm tomorrow. thank you.
Man!!!! Thank you so much for your "father's-advice-for-a-young-lonely-women" like me!! You cannot imagine how helpful you are to me!!! You rock!!! lml
This vid right here saved my ass and helped my business. I had this thing Soo outta whack and was holding off on calling the customer. Thank you so much
Dude, this is great. The video is clear, the close ups are clear and the audio is also clear. Really had adjustment settings on my tecumseh powered snow blower. Thanks Keep on the great video.
Donyboy73 - thanks for the instructions. I followed these last fall and my Toro ran better than it has ever run, and ran well through the record setting Boston winter. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Just wanted to let you know that you have earned a subscriber today, from Southwest Minnesota. Your videos are amazing. We just got about 8 inches of snow slushy crap here, we were essentially snowed in, and my snowblower decided she'd had enough. Your videos helped me tear apart, clean and reassemble my carb on the fly, so that I could clear our driveway and my wife could get out to see the doctor. You got me out of a big bind. Thanks!
My snow blower was running a bit rough and I was not sure exactly how to adjust it to run smoother. I came on youtube looking for answers and found your video. Thank you for a well done video that explains everything very easy and clear as it was a great help.
I was having problems with my snowblower when you're the only guy that's explained it easy enough to figure out how to adjust yourself without taking it into the shop and pain arm and leg to get it fixed thank you very much
Thank you so much for this and so man th of your other videos. Very helpful. I have been playing this one over and over as I try to adjust one on my snowblowers after I did a carb overhaul following your Tecumseh overhaul video. Floats checked, not leaking & level adjusted, throttle butterfly valve sitting right so it opens and closes properly. I had to adjust the throttle high adjustment screw out to turn the high speed down to not run too high. the primary needle below and mixture screw adjusted as instructed. the fast speed seems set about right now but I can only barely lower the speed down slightly (lever down about 5mm) before the engine idle goes way low and then the engine dies. It doesn't get near the low idle adjustment screw. The blower seems to have 2 main areas where the lower main jet adjustment screw seems to run best, just below the max adjustment or just above the minimum. In between these 2 areas it goes into really high speed. That's where I started adjusting down the throttle max screw. But there's next to no throttle range. Ive adjusted the minimum idle screw up to all the way in and the blower stalls before it even reaches it when throttling down. very perplexing. Any ideas?
Thank you so much for you kindness, your altruism and your good explanations. You save me a lot of time, you give me the opportunity to learn how to do it instead of being totally dependent of a service, in a place with a shortage of mechanic technicians and where the service is so expensive and slow. You save me too hundreds of dollars and I'll be more safe as a winter storm is ahead. Thank you so much you're a great man !
I rebuilt a Tecumseh 5.5's carb 2 years ago, then put it away for a season only to have it fail to start. Snow wasn't bad enough till now so I took it apart, cleaned it and replaced a washer and cap. I would not have done as well as I did if not for the specific details you gave and video of the spray coming through. You made sure the glare from the light didn't prevent understanding. My machine is running smoother and better than ever. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge. You do good for people.
Ive done this a few times now here in norway and the instructions work very well. But I think i keep it too lean because the exhaust starts glowing red at full throttle. Any tips, screw the screw under the bowl further out?
I had cleaned up the carb, all ports, went down to local shop for new seal, gasket, and needle kit, Mechanic reminded me to check the float for gas slush, tried to start, just sputtered, found Your recommendations, worked like a charm, Thanks again!
This is always a great video to refer back to when adjusting a Tecumseh carb after a rebuild, if you forgot what the pre-sets were. This time I wrote them in my Tecumseh engine service manual, which was to old to cover the hmsk line.
This video probably saved me packing up my snowblower and taking it to the small engine shop. A half turn out on the fuel mixture screw and a little Sea Foam seems to have done the trick. There was no way I was shoveling the wet slop we got in northeast Wisconsin last night. Thanks.
Sooo happy I finally found an old video on my old ariens 1128 carburetor!!! I have been watching a lot of ur more of ur recent videos and now I discovered all ur 10+ yr old videos!!! Keep up with all the great videos, it has taught me and others A LOT!!! :)
- one of the hottest days of summer & I'm looking at this - goes to show you I'm already thinking about the snow and how I've got to get busy fixing the blower before the white stuff begins to fall again - great instructions & vid - thanks muchly!
Just watching your videos are fun and enlightening donyboy. I like to see what makes it tick and you do a tremendous job in explaining it and filming it. Many thanks for your taking the time and trouble to share. God Bless !
Thank you, I just set my cab on my snowblower and if you didn`t show me I would have been lost, I was really worried that I was not going to get it to sound good again. Now that I watch your video it`s working fine. Thank you.
I Just Want to Thank You from Riverside California 92504. You've been so instrumental in my success. I enjoy how your very precise on what you have to say and your videos are very clear and you speak slowly I really wish the best in your career you've been very helpful to my business thank you MJ lawn mower repair.
Very good video. Thank you. Very easy to follow and detailed with-out being over technical. I really think with this video any shade tree mechanic can do this.
